Musang Seattle Reviews from The Last Year
Great place! And our server was awesome knowing the menu
Great place! And our server was awesome knowing the menu inside and out! Actually it was our anniversary dinner....couldn't be happier.
Good things first: The service and ambience were both
Good things first: The service and ambience were both fantastic. Our server and the hostess were both very sweet and efficient and the dining room is super cozy (also small, you will be right up on top of the people around you). Unfortunately the food and value were just not it. Maybe it would be a good place for someone who's brand new to Filipino food to gently dip a toe in but I definitely had expectations based on reviews that it did not live up to. Everything was very expensive but the seasoning and flavors just were not there. Textures were good, presentation was pretty, but everything was so bland. I was surprised and really disappointed. The crackers with the kilawin were pretty but had no flavor and were so huge for the amount of meat they came with. The inaloban na isda was not good, the sauce was too thick and the fish was overcooked, also very little flavor. The sisig was ok but it tasted better reheated the next day when I fried it with more seasonings and added another fried egg. Overall: great service, pretty space, good textures, noooooo flavor, super pricy.
So apparently the reservations go crazy here and you gotta
So apparently the reservations go crazy here and you gotta book a couple weeks ahead (idk bc I'm still a child and all my friends make the plans and all I have to do is show up yes, I'm that friend ) Restaurant is very teeny tiny but they do have additional outside area that's tented and have heat lamps during colder months I'm not the BIGGEST fan of Philippino food, so I don't have it often so not sure if it was authentic but I can say that the food was tasty! Little disappointed with the garlic rice - not very fragrant/ super subtle garlic flavor and was quite wet... the sisig was not my favorite only because I'm not a huge fan of fatty meat, but was definitely very flavorful and I think my friends enjoyed this! The fried chicken was SO crispy, juicy and tender, nicely seasoned and for sure the best dish of the night (must get!!) IG: Spillingthe.beans
I didn't know what to expect when my daughter suggested
I didn't know what to expect when my daughter suggested this place, and wondered even more when I thought I might be mugged trying to get there from where I parked -----but it's a hidden gem of a restaurant that I will probably risk my safety going to again. The food was outstanding and service was impeccable. Our server was able to help us pick out several items since we had never been there before.
Disappointed.
After reading such great reviews maybe I had higher expectations. No reservations but they said they accepted walk ins. Didn't wait too long for a spot and were just grateful they could seat us without a long wait since we didn't have a reservation. We got a spot at the bar. We were also super excited to try the food. The place itself was nice with a great ambience. Albeit a bit loud for a first date/if you actually wanted to catch up. Still a great vibe. Unfortunately it was a while before anyone took our order but it was busy so we understood. By the time the food came we were pretty hungry so we got right to it. Maybe it's because we were only two people so we didn't get a lot to share, but the food was not great. It was adequate but there was nothing special at all to us and honestly the chicken tasted old and reheated. No one ever came to even ask how the food/drinks were/refill water. We may have been 15 minutes into eating but then a server (not the one attending to us) asked us to move over at the bar mid meal). I understand they wanted to accommodate more people but the couple next to us was all done and would've left in another few minutes. We also were also almost done considering we were hungry and not loving the service. My partner and I were actually both surprised at the request but we moved over. More shocked that no one even asked how the meal was or noticed that our drinks were untouched. We also were just not enjoying our food and then asked for the check. Appalled at the 22% automatic gratuity at the end but I guess you have to require a tip with adequate food and subpar. Maybe it was all just bad luck, but bad enough that I'd never recommend the place.
Modern Filipino Cuisine
Visiting Seattle with the family. This time around had to bring my family to try the modern Filipino food by James Beard nominee chef. Wish I would have brought our friends so we can order more in the menu. Since there are only three of us- we were limited on how much we can order since our flight back to vegas is later in the Evening. For starters, we ordered Lumpiang Shanghai and daing na talaba. My son enjoyed the eggroll. The oyster dish was delicious and flavorful. For our main entree I had to get the short rib Kare Kare and sisig. Both were so good. The Kare Kare didn't need extra bagoong (shrimp paste)- perfect with the garlic rice. Both dishes were so big that we had leftovers we brought in the plane and able to finish off for breakfast. We made room to try the tkocolate pandan cake. It was moist and flavorful. Can't wait to try the chefs collaboration with Filipino chefs this coming February in Vegas. Supporting Filipino chefs with their endeavors and pushing Filipino to American dining scene. Yes it's not your grandmother's cooking but modernizing it is great.

If I could sum up my experience in one word it would be: sayang. The good: Service was impeccable. Very attentive without hovering. Presentation was on point. As they say you eat woth your eyes first and each dish was a feast for the eyeballs. The ambiance. The space is great and has an elevated old Manila feel. They bar had quite the selection Dessert - the corn bibinka was on point. Haven't had one this good in years. The ginataang veggies were delicious and they used winter veggies which was a nice twist to the dish. The not so good: Value - Filipino food is about family and is typically served family style (silog's being an obvious exception to the rule as a function of their origin) . The sisig was certainly large enough to be served family style but the other dishes were smaller single serving size. And for the price paid fell short. The fried chicken was dry, making the gravy a requirement. Sinigang sourness level is always a personal preference. This singiang was good and I think at a level that is approachable for the masses and uninitiated (ang mga puti). Vegetables were not as much as I would of hoped especially with as much protein was given. I appreciate all the ribs though! The portion size and flavors just left us wondering where our hard earned money went.

After coming here for casually for almost 2 years, I was disappointed in our most recent trip there. The short rib has increased in price to $52 and was no longer tender like it used to be. For that price I would expect a lot more flavor and tenderness. It was hard to chew and the flavors weren't as announced as before. We had brought friends with us to try for the first time and was very let down by the experience. The sinigang was good and was still a reasonable price, so would recommend that. If the kare kare which is a staple is starting to go up in price and down in quality, I'm hesitant to come back.
A young Asian female making a splash in the culinary scene
A young Asian female making a splash in the culinary scene in Seattle. I'm all for it. It makes me so happy. Food was absolutely delicious and I've been here a few times just to try something new on the menu. Wonderful service! One time they were phasing out a dessert on the menu so they gave us one on the house. "I want to make sure you give this a try before we phase it out". Ughhh my heart!!!! Bonus point for being an easy spot for folks relying on public transit. It's quite close to the beacon hill link station. Finding street parking can be tough. Following their Instagram was helpful for me to know when they release reservation dates. You do have to plan ahead because this place is very popular. It deserve the popularity. I will recommend anyone visiting or living in Seattle to try this place at least once. (I intentionally didn't want to talk about the food in detail, because I don't want to spoil the experience for ya.)

I finally snagged reservations for Musang at a decent hour
I finally snagged reservations for Musang at a decent hour for dining with friends on a weeknight after work (plan ahead folks!). I was super excited to try this "elevated" Filipino food, as my experience of Filipino food has been more limited and more casual. The interior was inviting and warm, design that has been considered but isn't fussy or pretentious. The waitstaff were friendly and informative, able to answer our questions about ingredients and portions to share everything family style. I started with an Ube Lemon Soda. Wow, don't miss this delicate, refreshing vanilla lemon drink! I knew I definitely wanted the lumpiang and pancit, my go-to Filipino choices. My dining companions had little to no exposure to Filipino food and one person doesn't eat anything with seafood, so family style eating limited what i would normally choose just a bit. I am not a huge beef fan, but l love short ribs and the wait person recommended them, so that was our main. We rounded out dinner with a Brussels sprouts dish and garlic rice. Lumpiang and pancit are definitely done deliciously here. We were all scraping the pancit sauce onto our rice (definitely get the garlic rice!). The lumpiang probably has one of the best wrappers I have ever tasted, and the filling was a perfect blend of minced pork and shrimp, with an excellent vinegar based dipping sauce (sawsawan). The major disappointment of the evening was the short rib Kare Kare. Impressively sized and beautifully presented with a pool of peanut sauce and perfectly cooked veg tucked to the side, our meat was tough, chewy and difficult to get off the bone. The sauce/meat combo was flat and one dimensional. I have read other reviews of this dish where the meat was clearly prepared better, and described as "fall off the bone." Sadly we did not get that version of the dish. At $52 this was a dish no one wanted to finish or eat much of. The most delicious sounding dessert on the menu (a spiced apple ice cream dish) was not available, so we tried the corn bibinka. This was like a chewy rice flour cornbread with warm honey butter. Tasty, but not something I would order again, especially for dessert. Every seat was full during our 7PM visit and we were notified ahead of arriving dining time would be limited to 1 hour 45 minutes for a party of 3 due to turnover, as well as 22% service charge (they are very good about letting you know you don't have to add gratuity, but you are prompted when paying to choose a percentage or "no tip". Eater Reader, I can't choose no tip.) I don't have a problem with any of this for an experience, but it's not a structure I am going to generally choose for my average dining out. If someone wanted to go to Musang and invited me, I would definitely say yes, but I don't think it will be on my list of go-to suggestions unless I am looking for a special occasion restaurant in that part of town due to price, turnover pressure (which they aren't overt about), and difficulty in getting a reservation. However, it is definitely worth having the experience, whether you already love Filipino food or need an introduction. P.S. No pics because this was a night for enjoying company with friends who don't photograph their food.
Far from downtown, but well worth the cab fare
My wife and I stayed downtown, and despite the long cab ride, we decided to check it out. It was well worth the trip. The short rib kare kare was incredible and was a very generous portion. The corn bibingka for dessert was a pleasant surprise as well. The texture was extraordinary, and the salt and honey made it very moreish.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
