Cuchullin Restaurant Portree Reviews
Ok food, very poor service here. We would not eat here again.
We stayed at the hotel for three nights and planned to eat here all three nights and once was enough. Menu is fine, service was very poor. Must have a bad manager. Simply put they just forget about you. Drinks, appetizer, etc. just didn’t
Delicious Local Seafood
Delicious local cuisine and seafood! Local whiskey and beer to complement the well prepared food. Fresh local ingredients in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!

This was fine.
Not fantastic. Kid menu super limited. It was pricey and Very cost prohibitive to order a main without a starter. Service was incredible. And the ambiance comfortable. Felt a bit rushed.
Gem of a restaurant
Located on the square in the middle of Portree this is a lovely seafood restaurant We went for lunch and all had a fantastic meal. The Cullen Skink lived up to the waiters exuberant sales pitch, the haddock and mussels were perfect. There are no lun
Could do better!
Good fish and chips, some of the staff where a bit sullen. I cannot understand why there were no low alcohol/alcohol free drinks available. Many people do have to drive to their accommodation, so the choice of having a low alcohol beer, or wine, shou
Surprise Gem
We arrived in Portree to find that most finer restaurants required reservations and we hadn’t made one. Cuchullin doesn’t take reservations and we were pleased to get a table. The staff was friendly and attentive and the menu had a nice variety o
Nr 1 on Skye
The best restaurant experience in Scotland so far. You can eat mussels everywhere, but the mussels here ( starter) by far the highest quality. As main menu, choose the steamed scallops. Almost melts on your tongue. We shared cheese platter. What to
Delicious quick lunch
We had lunch this week on the recommendation from a local driver during our short 90-minute visit to Portree. We had fish and chips and cauliflower soup (best I’ve ever had) - all was delicious. The chips were especially good - more of a Belgian st
Yes please! What a perfect team, excellent fresh food and authentic setting, don’t look further
Honestly my first impression on Portree was quite disappointing. Visited for 25 years plus for the last time. Harbour site could use a renovation. So we looked further for a good food experience. It was quite an experience when our effort paid off. W
Wonderful food and friendly service. But you will need to queue!
Excellent food, friendly service. Only downside was that you cannot book a table so there is always a queue to get in at busy times. But do wait. It is worth it. Excellent sea food - we both had Moules followed by Scallops. Wonderful. Best meal we ha
Lucky Find - Great Local fish and Chips
We got lucky with this place. We arrived in town at around 6:30pm and checked into our Hotel so we didn't have time to go grab something to eat until around 8pm. Every other restaurant was booked and wouldn't even consider seating us. When
Worthwhile visit
Visited this restaurant this evening. Nice place, great staff and service and above all, great food. Mid range for price, but I recommend it.
Delicious food and great service
We stood in line and it was worth it!!!! The seafood platter was spectacular!! As was the sticky toffee pudding, the soup and the tart!!! The servers were so sweet and accommodating!! Highly recommend!!!
We were able to book a day ahead, after reading reviews.
Four of us went with the 3 course menu and everything was excellently prepared and presented. Pan seared scallops were delicious. With cocktails, wine, side dish it was a bit of a splurge, but well worth it!

This was the best restaurant I went to in Portree.
The pan seared scallops were really delicious and the butternut squash puree underneath was truly the perfect complement. The sticky toffee pudding was slightly on the sweet side, but still very enjoyable. You have to order either 2 or 3 courses and
The seafood was INCREDIBLE.
The mussels and scallops were so tender and sweet and the fish and chips were excellent as well. The manager did a great job handling a pissy customer at the table next to us.
Absolutely fabulous! Our best meal since arriving in
Absolutely fabulous! Our best meal since arriving in Scotland 3 days ago!! It's an upscale restaurant with outstanding & friendly staff. Our 3 course meal lived out its reputation (tour guide highly recommended). Beautiful food presentation,
Best dinner in Portree
Outstanding!! Worth the wait! 5 from our tour ran in and had the best dinner! We opted for the 3 corse $38.50. 1st corse--We had: mussels and leeks and gruyere tart--incredible! 2nd corse: sea trout and chicken! So delicious. We argued which was b
Great place
Great place for any type of food. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It is well worth the money. They don’t take reservations
Would not recommend
We were tired but super excited about eating here after the reviews. Our family eats Mussels everywhere we travel to but we’re disappointed with how bland theirs was. The Fish and Chips were extremely bland and disappointing as well. Would not reco
Dinner at Portree in raining day
Walk-in at 6pm as just 4-5 tables left. Ordered th set, one starter is mussels and one is salad. The mussels is excellent! Main is fish and forgot the other. The fish is good as crispy. Service is good and the price is reasonable.
Tasty fish and chips
The restaurant was quite busy, but there was still a table available for us. I ordered fish and chips. It was good, but I had to wait a long time for the tartar sauce. The dessert, toffee pudding, was also delicious. However, it was a bit pricey.
Great Portree Restaurant !
This is a great restaurant . The trout, scallops , fish and chips and the chicken was all unbelievable . They do not take reservations and the queue starts about 10-15 before they open. Highly recommend this restaurant .
Super Scallops
The best and freshest seafood platter, particularly the scallops - best I’ve ever had, Lovely service from a welcoming team
Awesome restaurant
Excellent little restaurant. Great food and quick friendly service. We ate there twice. It was me of my most delicious meals in our whole trip to Scotland. I got the seafood platter.
Nice walk in restaurant
This is a very nice (mostly) fish restaurant. You can’t book, so have to queue. Because most restaurants were fully booked we went twice, first time we queued for about 30 minutes (there was some form of festival in the town), the second time abou

We were able to get a table really quickly here which was great because all of the other restaurants were booked. You have the option of two or three courses and if you pick two, you can choose appetizer and entree or entree and dessert. Appetizers
It was fine, not fantastic, equally not bad.
It's a place to eat in order to get out of the rain. Fish and chips, hard to mess up, not the best not the worst. It was food. Service was fine, would have liked 1 or 2 more walk bys asking "how are you doing" "do we need anything&quo

An extraordinary find Great service team, good wine and creative and local fish menu! Opens at 5:30 sharp when the line is already forming No reservations
We had a lovely lunch here while on a recent visit.
The restaurant is very attractive, with lots of natural light by the large windows and comfortable seating. The menu is brief and devoted almost entirely to fish and seafood; the seafood stew seems to be a house specialty, and is offered singly or fo
Not crazy about the selection, food was adequate
I don't remember seeing an a la carte menu; we only had the choice of a 2 course or 3 course meal, or seafood platters. That made it difficult, as we had young children and were worried about picky eaters; if we would over or under order food; and o
Fish cooked well
I watched the restaurant being renovated and was excited to try this. The food is ok and the fish well cooked but would have been fine with some lemon and nog so many additions. Menu confusing: two and three course prices but hard to workout what in
This place does not need my stars.
The service and the food speaks for itself. I walked right in with no reservation but I was there during the low tourist season. I heard that the line wraps around the corner at the peak of summer so reservation will be highly recommended. I thorough

An awesome small gem in Portree, Isle of Skye.
Our first night in town (a Wednesday) we went to go after seeing it on our walk around town but they had an hour and a half wait. We were really intrigued about that so decided to put a reservation in for the following evening. We both got the scallo

Great food, mediocre service
Had lunch here, we had the seafood platter that was loaded with fresh mussels, scallops, and salmon. A squeeze of lemon was all that was needed! Most excellent, even though they did not have any langoustines that day. Drinks were mediocre and service
Seafood platter lunch
Portree has limited restaurants open in the wintertime. Really slim pickings for food at this island. The menu had a handful of selection. I had the seafood platter (as pictured for $38) with loads of mussels, a portion of salmon, and 4 delicio
