Water's Edge Lytham St Annes Reviews from The Last Year
Enjoyable lunch
Food on the whole was of a good quality and well prepared. The carvery meat was generous in portion and of outstanding quality. The vegetables were however a little hard (green beans) in some instances. The grilled gammon steak was overcooked and a little tough, although a generous portion with excellent accompaniments. The apple and almond tart was delicious as also was the mini blueberry Eaton mess that accompanied the white chocolate and lemon cheesecake.
Poor service
Have been before and food was excellent. Went last night for a birthday celebration with the family and it was not as good, there were 11 adults snd 2 children and all the food was ordered together.. 2 starters came out of the kitchen 20 mins before the rest of the starters. When the main courses came out, we had to go and ask 3 times for 2 of the meals after beng told they were on the way. When we finally received them, there were no apologies from the staff or managers about the delay. One of the meals we asked for was off the children's menu, they'd ordered carrot batons but got limp overcooked carrot slices from the carvery and another of the mains was lukewarm and not once did anyone ask how the meals were. There seemed to be 2 people taking orders at the bar. So if you wanted just drinks you had to wait until the people in front had ordered their food and drinks. 2 more large parties walked in before and after ours so I think the kitchen were overwhelmed but we did see food sitting under the heat lamps for 10 mins before being taken out to customers. It did put a dampener on the celebrations for us all, won't be rushing back any time soon.
First and last time, poor quality food
Are here for the first time over bank holiday weekend. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and showed to a table. It’s nice inside lots of room and the garden area outside looks nice as well. I chose the Moroccan style chicken kebab, and stupidly I assumed it would be chicken breast but it was thigh and absolutely disgusting. It was watery and fatty! I left the entire meal. My daughter had the steak and ale pie and it was like slop inside the pie no pieces of meat to be found. My husband did enjoy his gammon steak but the portions were very small for the price. The waiter who cleared our table didn’t even bother to ask if everything was ok, in-fact nobody checked on us once! My daughter wanted a slice of the beuno chocolate cake, which we order to take away but for some reason it didn’t come with any of the decoration on the top what was on show in the cabinet! If it’s not included don’t show it!!! Will not return! Cheap, nasty food.
Awful food
Awful overpriced food. Avoid at all costs and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. I had the cheese and onion pie which was tasteless served with luke warm chips.
Easter event at a lovely restaurant
Went to the Easter event - The Little Zoo. Very good, well attended and the lady presenting the animals was very informative and great with the children. We found the whole event entertaining and fun and our small grandchildren loved it. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and the Little Zoo event.
Sadly, gone downhill in recent months. Food now poor, where once it was really good
This was once our favourite place for an evening meal, and we went many times in 2023. Sadly, the quality of the food has gone down a great deal in 2024. We went in January, and fish and chips was dreadful--a shame, since it used to be lovely. We gave it a couple of months, and went back last night. This time we chose the gammon, which has been excellent before. Sadly, this was also poor. The gammon was greasy, and the chips were lukewarm. The mushrooms were cool, and had an odd taste. The peas were dry and old--inedible. A real pity, since my Mum and I really enjoyed many good meals here, but we won't be going back.
Dinner
Came here for a meal with my partner got greeted by the lovely host who I assumed to be a manager got our drinks and ordered a carvery got myself a small since I wasn’t too hungry and my partner got the Wexford chicken carvery chef was beyond polite and even made me gluten free Yorkshire puddings my partner loved his meal that came shortly after we ordered staff were very attentive and made sure to ask us how our food was absolutely delicious will be coming again staff and management clearly know what they are doing!
Amazing service
Went for a visit with my family for my daughters birthday A family of 12 ( I didn’t book) We were seated very quickly .. the food was absolutely amazing and the service was outstanding. We will most definitely be back Thanks again
Great environment
Amazing atmosphere. Great service. Outstanding food. Will definitely go back, the staff was very friendly and fast service
How standard can drop, unfortunately
Having visited many many times, before and after the re-furb , we are somewhat disappointed all of a sudden to see such a drop in service, especially. Curry night last Thursday was an utter shambles. 5.30pm, relatively busy, we saw four, yes four, couples walk-out, so disappointed with the "queues" at the till, ONE till, 12 people in a long queue, waiting to request either food orders or just for drinks. Four couples stopped by our table by the door and said, "never again", "this is horrendous", "one till open for service". We noticed one man by the dessert till wait for 15 minutes before a young waiter asked could he help, only to be told, sorry you can't order here, you will have to go to the next till, 4 yards away, and the ONLY ONE open, with ONE PERSON, doing it all, and a long queue!!!!! Actually stretching back to the door entrance. I counted 12 persons in total, my partner being one of them!!!!The man in question actually left, absolutely disgusted and we felt so sorry for him. The curry was OK, I can turn out better from a jar to be honest, we had two different ones and both tasted the same, strange! The rice was so so watery, not drained at all, the whole meal, not quite warm enough, but simply OK, BUT would NOT go for it again, sadly. Please, please get your act together on staffing levels especially, and up the game, back to what was normal over the years, as regular customers. The decor is good after the expensive upgrade, unnecessary in my opinion, but the management need a shake up obviously as the staff are lovely, not enough of them but not their fault. Management have become complacent in our opinion. Just saying!
lovely lunch and nice staff
Went with my son and grandson for my birthday lunch and it was a lovely experience- good food, very clean and the staff were delightful especially the young lad with dark hair and dark rimmed spectacles- he was a bit like Harry Potter- he was so pleasant to us and helpful. Made it a nice occasion. Excellent service. Well done.
Pleasant Place
Nice clean comfortable pub/eatery Pleasant staff Good menu and carvery Only negative was the meals off the menu (not the carvery) could of been warmer
Disappointist visit after refurb.
Early lunch -12.00 noon - expecting few people inside. Table 64 was dirty so I mentioned it to lady behind bar, saying it needed wiping clean. Expected an apology and for her to follow with a cloth and spray .... she handed me a dirty J-cloth ! Ordered drinks including a half pint of cider (only recognisable drink at the pumps) and the barmaid tried to charge for a full pint. Had dirty chips with meal at £5.25 - on a small plate the size of a saucer, and cold to boot. Once I'd removed all the green stuff from my beef flatbread there wasn't much left - what was was overpowered by red chilis. I presume they've spent a fortune on their refurbishment - I think the staff may need the same. Blossoms Pub and restaurant here I come ...
Not very good
Went here for lunch ....it was awful .........as they had only just opened you would think it would be fresh .....err no ....sprouts were like rubber and bland ..carrot n turnip watery ......roast potatoes were like they were reheated from yesterday ....gravy was ok .......
