As Peranakans, we were curious about the restaurant and so took the MRT all the way to Beauty World to try the food. We tried the set for 2. The assam fish was the highlight - it was fresh, the assam flavor was just right, and there was more than enough meat for 2. However, the rest of the dishes were disappointing. The chap chye consisted mainly of cabbage, with little embellishment. It was also on the sweet side. If you look at the picture of chap chye on the restaurant's web site, the chap chye has many ingredients, including fungus, tanghoon and prawn. I must say this is rather misleading. The buah keluah chicken was also on the sweet side (the chef must have a sweet tooth :)) and considering it was a set for 2, I thought it was not very nice that only one buah keluah nut was served. The bakwan kepiting was so so. The food was OK, for the price, but we will not travel again so far just to eat the food. If the restaurant's argument is that we had the set - quality should not be compromised just because it's a set.
