Sardi's New York Reviews from The Last Year
Sardi's lives up to its reputation
Sardi's lives up to its reputation as a classic before-theater dinner spot. We were seated upstairs, and the restaurant was full. We were asked twice what our theater times were, and we appreciated the concern. Cocktails were perfectly made, and our lasagna dinners (one bolognese and one spinach ricotta) were huge and delicious. Great service from a friendly staff.
An After Broadway Show Tradition
This place is so iconic, we had to go after seeing a Broadway show literally across the street. The food was good, not great, but the atmosphere and history of the place make up for that. Service was good, too.

SARDI'S IS AMAZING!!!!! The service was GREAT, we were very taken care of, and the food was super yummy. The portions were perfect to split, and I would love to come back:)
Great Spot in Theater District
The caricatures of stars shine in this iconic restaurant near Times Square and theater district. So historic! Great food and service
Good
The ambiance was great. Iconic Sardis with the caricatures. Service was good. Food was also good, nothing great but good and good sized portions. Worth going just to see the caricatures.

How do they do it? While preserving the "legend," they keep up with the changing market and ensure that everyone feels comfortable. The servers are professionals, and the facility is iconic. We prefer to go after the theater, but many (including families) come beforehand. If you pay attention to the menu, prices can be quite reasonable. While many other, once-similar establishments have folded, Sardi's continues to flourish, earning their great reputation for food, friendliness, service, and great cocktails!
I'm a native New Yorker yet I've never been to Sardi's?!?
I'm a native New Yorker yet I've never been to Sardi's?!? So I went. We did lunch before a Wednesday matinee. I love OLD NYC, so this was right up my alley. I had reservations and was sat right away. My one complaint was we waited 20 minutes before anyone came over. We were given two our drinks comped so thank you for making it up to us. My drinks were delish. I ordered the turkey club ( it was really yummy and fresh) and Hubbs got the burger and it was cooked just right. I loved people watching and seeing all the pics on the wall. Upstairs was cool too, and I spotted Kermit. LOL. I love MERCH so I bought a T-shirt. I don't know what everyone is complaining about, it's ICONIC. I'll be back!
A true Classic!
The meat cannelloni was superb! The cheesecake and cappuccino made an excellent end to the meal. The service was good. The caricatures are iconic of course.
A one time stop!
Great for a memory!! Atmosphere was bustling and service rushedβ¦ Sauce was βa la Raguββ¦shame on you! BUT my granddaughter thought the waiter was adorable so it was worth the βvery otherwise mundaneβ experience.

Conveniently located for my date with Corey Stoll next to the Hayes Theatre. First time at Sardis, we hit the upstairs bar with some friends Michael and Loften who are old pro's at this. Big strong Martinis made by experienced and solid bartenders who can do this blindfolded. A caprese and a shrimp cocktail with the Martini tided us over through the play next door. Average appy was $26 so not cheap, we easily dropped a hundred before Corey took a deep breath next door. All part of the theatre experience darlings.

A few too many tables for the space with a stodgy/fairly ordinary menu- but it is worth the experience as the service is very good and their food preparation is enjoyable - we like it very much for pre theatre and the historic environment.
It's old time theatre district dining.
I have been there with family or friends at least a dozen times. Service is excellent. Food is basic and traditional. Atmosphere is appropriate. Pricing is fair. My only complaint is that they added tables therefore at times uncomfortable.
We had such a lovely meal at Sardi's.
I've wanted to go for years but they were closed for renovation. Our server was delightful and knew exactly what to order. I had the spinach cannelloni combo one with beef. Piping hot and delicious. The bar is gorgeous as is the dining room. And of course all the drawings of celebrities. They stay open late for the after theatre crowd.

went to sardi's yesterday was with a large group and we knew to break down into tables of 6 and 4 which wasn't a problem. ordered the hamburger and asked for medium well. food finally came and wasn't cooked and dripping raw juices all over the plate and my fries. called waiter and showed definitely not med well. he took my food as well as my friend s who ordered exactly the same. took over ten mins for return and was given back my same burger but now was overdone they took all my toppings off and gave new bun. fries we now cold. extremely disappointed as years ago used to be good. sad to say nothing extra was given and not even people checking to see if enjoying
Food was brought out the way we all ordered it.
My friend had the Caesar Salad. I had the shrimp salad and my other friend the turkey club. My salad was very fresh and honored my request for ice berg lettuce. There was 4 shrimp, chilled and cooked correctly. Everyone else's food was exactly the way they wanted it. Service was a little bumpy when we first got there because it was 45 people. But once things calmed down, service was very attentive. My friend wanted to take the rest of her salad home. The waiter by mistake, threw it out. They gave my friend a complete new salad to take home. All in all, everything was fine. The walls were decorated with caricatures of all the Mayor's of NYC, along with famous singers and actors. This restaurant is a true iconic dining establishment dating back to the late 40s. True nostalgia
Disappointing.
Sardiβs came highly recommended for a pre-theatre meal but unfortunately did not live up to expectations. The service was good but there were several bored waiters who hovered around our table watching us, which was rather off-putting. The food was mediocre at best and very expensive. We had far better meals for half the price at upmarket restaurants elsewhere in NY.

This place is an iconic Broadway stop! Great atmosphere and fun pictures hang on the wall. The food is good and the service is great. A fun place to go when you want to get dressed up and hit the theatre! We enjoy it every time.
An old school, classy, iconic, New York restaurant!
If youβre going to NYC and youβll be in the theater / Times Square area, do yourself a favor and make a reservation to have dinner at Sardis. Itβs exactly what we were hoping for. Itβs like taking a step back in time. The white linen topped tables, waiters in uniforms and an ambiance that will leave a lasting mark in your memories. The iconic caricatures of famous stars from the stage and silver screen cover all of the walls on both floors and in the bar. The food was very good (I had the salmon and my wife had the filet medallions). They asked if we were seeing a show after our dinner to make sure we would be done in time to make the show. They even volunteered to hold our leftovers in the refrigerator so we could come back after the show and take them home. We didnβt take them up on this offer because we were staying in a hotel, but it was a really nice service to offer. Sardiβs should definitely be on your agenda the next time youβre in NYC!
Did not meet expectations
I finally visited, and I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the food The atmosphere is great. The proximity to Broadway is great, and the nostalgia is great, but the quality of food for the price you pay is a disappointment. I just expected a while factor with my food and I felt my Italian dish Iβve had better Also, the night I went there was a couple having a large fight screaming at each other, and the staff did nothing except just walked right by them, which was very odd
Classic New York
A classic place, with excellent service. The food was fine, and the service exemplary. Other than the prices, which were not horrible, the place has probably not changed in 50 years. In a good way!
