Salty's on the Columbia River Portland Reviews from The Last Year
Our party of nine ate at Salty's last night.
The food was amazing. I had the salmon special and we ordered oysters, crab cakes, and the fingerling potatoes as appetizers. Service was outstanding, (thank you, Andrew), and I would highly recommend. We were traveling from AZ and when we are back in the area, we won't miss this gem!
Had the greatest dinner at Salty's.
Nancy was so knowledgeable and attentive. The crab and scallops were fabulous! Thank you Nancy for a great meal.
$110 per person for a buffet.
We went on Mother's Day and were unpleasantly surprised by the $110 per person fee. Kids were $55 per so we left there spending over $350 for a family of four. It's hard to eat $110 worth of food. I would rather pay $50 for a nice meal and spend $60 on drinks. The food was good, but it was a buffet so it wasn't top tier. Service was excellent and accommodating.
Went there for Mother's Day brunch yesterday for the first
Went there for Mother's Day brunch yesterday for the first time. I was shocked of how pleasant of an experience I had. I'm from nyc so I'm very picky with food and service. Not only the restaurant delivered a great variety of fresh, delicious food, but also great service. The two servers I met, Jessica was so beautiful, attentive, friendly and provided fast service. Aaron was very helpful to customers but also very kind to his own colleagues. The level of planning, management of the event was spot on, no delays, adequate staffing to handle the volume of customers. And the view of Columbia river was phenomenal! And to put the cherry on top, valet parking attendant was just equally awesome :)
Having lived in No Po for 10 years I finally made it to
Having lived in No Po for 10 years I finally made it to Saltys. My expectations were mid for some reason. I ended up being low key blown away. For an older place, the condition and cleanliness was immaculate. The service was terrific. Our server, Aaron had the perfect vibe and great timing for our leisurely lunch. Cocktails were great. We did a range of fresh seafood dishes and everything was really good. The setting is a huge plus. Highly recommended. Eager to return.
Wow all the way around.
Food, service, and view. The drinks, apps, dinner, and desserts were all amazing. The service was outstanding and would eat here again next time in Portland in a heart beat. Make reservations and enjoy the fine seafood dining experience.

Awesome Experience
If I said that the meal I had at this restaurant is the best I had since 2009, I wouldnt be lying. The staff were very welcoming, the hostess, the waitress Nancy, the waiter who was nice enough to offer to take my pic when I was struggling with a selfie. The CHEF, I wanna thank him big time. I asked the waitress to deliver my message for him. I had the best Orange roughy dish I have ever had. The restaurant was very busy but nothing was late. The view is great. I highly recommend it. Only plz do have a reservation before you go.
Great Easter buffet brunch! Very glad they brought it back.
The seafood was the best part by far.

The buffet is pricey but so worth it! The seafood was amazing and I had my share of crab legs. Will return without a doubt!
A classic favorite
Always a great spot. The fish and chips is always amazing. Service is great. Really glad they got new furniture. It’s a huge difference.
Exceptional food, friendly service
Exceptional food, service and environment. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable of the menu and the food. She made some great recommendations and went the extra mile to make sure we were enjoying our experience. I had a wonderful seafood bucatini meal along with an Old Fashioned, and some seafood artichoke dip for an appetizer.
Out of this world customer service to resolve an issue + excellent food bonus!
My wife and I were exceptionally happy with the quantity and quality of our appetizers and entrées (Seafood chowder, focaccia bread, garlic prawns-scallops and mahi mahi). It had been many years since we last visited for dinner and both surprised and very satisfied at the wonderful tableside service and tastiness of food. What REALLY needs to be called out and commended was Ryan, the assistant General Manager who exemplified a "gold standard" of customer service and how to handle a negative issue not attributable to the Portland office's operation(s). My wife has simply raved about his actions, interactions, professionalism and ultimately how he resolved our issue. Another in our party outright wanted to hire him away from Saltys! Such great actions and behavior are just so hard to find these days (coming from a long-time senior manager and senior sales associate in different industries).
Disappointing
After a disappointing meal at Salty's on the Columbia I emailed the Assitant to the GM directly (the contact I was given when I asked how to get in touch with a manager). This is what I emailed, and since I have not received a response, not even a "Thank you for your feedback, as this is our busiest time of year, we will respond in detail as soon as possible" kind of thing, I am posting my email here. "I had lunch yesterday at Salty's as part of a group of around 14 women. I have heard about the restaurant and was looking forward to eating there as I love seafood (I'm a pescatarian). Unfortunately, while your staff were uniformly polite and attentive, the service was not great and the food itself was not good. I was immediately disappointed because our group was seated with a view of the parking lot and the road, not the river, which I had been hoping for, and since the restaurant wasn't busy, it seems could have been accommodated. In terms of my actual meal, I asked the waiter why there was an asterisk next to the fish tacos, since, as you know, the menu explains this as "Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs increases your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions." I was surprised by this since I have often had fish tacos, whether from street vendors, or beachfront restaurants in Mexico, or at starred restaurants in Europe, but I have never had them served "rare," for want of a better word. This didn't sound appetizing to me so I confirmed with the waiter that the cod would be fully cooked. In fact it wasn't, and in retrospect I now understand the asterix, but it seems the waiter didn't know the menu correctly. So I guess I got what I ordered, but I didn't enjoy it, and the taco shells themselves were a terrible texture - were they soft? were they crispy? - and impossible to pick up, which is really how tacos should be eaten. Since I was reduced to eating them with a knife and fork, I then found myself trying to cut into a soggy taco in an attempt to get a bite that didn't also include the wet paper they were inexplicably served on. The accompanying salsa tasted of nothing but jalapeno. I did enjoy aioli on the tacos, although it looks unfortunately like 100 Island Dressing, and the chips were good, but that's about it."
Beautiful View Fantastic Food
Beautiful Columbia River view. It was a Saturday breakfast. Team members were super nice. We ordered Coffee, Pineapple Mimosa, Calamari, bowl of Seafood Chowder, Crab Cake Benedict with fresh fruit, Paella and a basket of pastry. Fantastic food and came with a surprise slice of super tasty White Chocolate Mousse cake.
Excellent Seafood and Views
Sally’s is out of the way, hidden along the Columbia River behind the airport, and worth the trip. Excellent seafood dishes, great selection of wines with a Oregon heavy list and nice desserts.
Our dinner at Salty's in Portland Oregon
The food was spectacular as was the view. We were celebrating my college graduation and a free dessert and card came with the meal. I hope to go again
Best Chowder I ever had
Outstanding seafood and service Salty"s is on of the two best restrauants I have eaten; their chowder is the best I ever tasted plenty of sea food and the sauce was very very good.
Delicious meal and service
Stepping outside of the box and trying something that we don’t have available to us back home I ordered the blackened steelhead and my husband the black cod . Both were excellent. We sat outside overlooking the river which was beautiful. The occasional jet overhead didn’t bother us as the service and food was fabulous.
