McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Me and my friends went to lunch and they told my friend
Me and my friends went to lunch and they told my friend with a life threatening nut allergy that her food had no nuts and returned twenty minutes later (after she had already eaten it) that there were in fact nuts in the entire dish.... They could not tell us what exact nuts were in the food and were less than helpful. The service was very slow and everything took a very long time. I will under no circumstances go back.

By the end of dinner we had realized why many of the tables were empty at peak dinner time. On entry, we were seated rapidly but it took Harold nearly 10 minutes to make his way to our table despite the sparse patronage. Ordering our drinks, it took another 10+ minutes for them to arrive. The kitchen was almost as quick with appetizers as the bar was with drinks. Ordering dinner when the appetizers arrived, this was the last we saw our waiter until just before the main course arrived. It would have been nice had he shown up 5-10 mins earlier to see if maybe we would like a glass of wine with dinner. When he showed with the food we asked him to put a rush on the wine as we kinda sorta wanted the wine before the food was cold. 5+ minutes later I go to the bar to find that they're finally teeing up our wine. 5 minutes later our waiter finally delivers it to the table. The restaurant is still less than half full. He had the courtesy to offer a comp dessert to our out of town guest whose birthday we were trying to celebrate. The food was warm but not steaming hot. Quality ok. All in all very disappointing.

This has always been one of my favorite goto spots in the city. I had a larger group on this particular outing to attend their happy hour and as usual it didn't disappoint. It's an upscale environment simple but clean cut decor with a long bar extending from the entrance to the back of the restaurant with the larger dining room on the opposite side of the space. Happy hour runs from 4-7pm as the menu offers items such as truffle fries, Asian calamari, lettuce wraps, and shrimp cocktail as prices range from $6-$12 depending on the item. As far as drinks they offer several different cocktails for $7-$9, wines by the glass ranging from about $7-$9, spirits from $6-$8 and a few different beer options around $6. I ordered the crispy Baja fish tacos and a couple glasses of wine. Service was a bit slower than usual in regards to receiving food but to be expected given the volume of customers at that time. All in all really good tacos, the fish was evenly fried crispy but not overdone. Always a pleasant experience at this particular location.

I was in DC on business and had dinner with associates at McCormick & Schmick's. The food and service was excellent. I accidentally lost an item while in DC but didn't realize it until I was back home on the West Coast. I called to see if I had left it in the restaurant and they had found it. I was fortunate enough to speak with Sophia Kiflu and she was gracious enough to ship the item to me. She provided tremendous service, over and above what we normally see in today's world. Shout out to Sophia! Thank you!!

Even as a family visiting the area, it was a very intimate and inviting environment! Professional and friendly staff! The selection of food, wine, cocktails, and dessert was fantastic! Big shout out to Eirene and Marshall for the phenomenal service and VIP attention they gave us. The food was fast, fresh and super tasty! A triple threat kind of place. We will definitely be back the next time in DC!

Very nice dinner -- the food was very good, and the service, from Sophia, was outstanding.
On a not busy night, service was s-l-o-w.
Had to send back one of two entrees, which took too long to come out, back as both the fish and the sides were lukewarm at best Similar when asked for water refills and a glass of wine. Server was very personable but ineffective.

I have grave concerns about this place, although it is packed w people like me who are longtime patrons. I've been there dozens of times, both for Happy Hour (excellent) and also for regular dining and holiday dining. Food is mostly fresh, although we have complained in the past about the wilted lettuce that usually shows up on your plate. Last night I found plastic netting in my entree, and a shrimp was not cleaned. I asked for it to be replaced; it is like they don't understand the issue. (I do not eat shrimp vein and it should not be plated.) The bar is long and always filled to capacity, although only half was running and staffed. Hector nobly did what he could to work the bar, but drinks were slow in coming. Other bar staff seems somewhat lost. Staff was bunched up at the front end of the bar. I am posting photos of my uncleaned shrimp and plastic debris. This place needs tightening and training.
Ambiance at this location was very nice.
Service was excellent and food selections were awesome
Worst experience and meal.
The place is empty yet it took 1 1/2 hours to get 2 steaks and two fish dishes. Steak was heavily salted.
