Kamonegi Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

Kamonegi is not messing around with their soba! If you're not looking to eat soba or tempura then you should probably eat else where because that's all that they offer, but they do it exquisitely. This place offers an authentic soba experience with a little zest and flare. I had the Kamonegi Seiro soba and the broth was on another level. Delicate duck breast, with a salty broth with hints of citric from the Yuzu. I'm not kidding when I say I licked the bowl clean. It's a tiny little establishment but the vibe is chill and service was fast and our server was really good at answering questions and giving us recommendations. Definitely already planning another trip here as I saw like 5 other things on this menu I wanted to try.
This may be one of the best meals I've had in years.
Very small place in a residential area, so just go and park anywhere and walk, as there are not many spots. We managed to get a 4:30 reservation, and were delighted to snag it as they are full almost every night. We stared with the Foie Gras tofu (yes, it's real liver), $14 and my dad and I almost blacked out, it was so good! Very rich, but the wasabi and dashi balances to perfection. I will dream about this. Firefly (small squid) deviled eggs were good $12, but maybe wouldn't get again, as there is so many other amazing items, but the pickled fiddleheads...I probably messed that name up, sell me a jar for $100, please. For tempura, we got the eggplant $12, and maybe the second best after the Foie Gras, I've had in years, coating shattered like glass, and the dashi, radish and mushrooms just added so much umami and texture. Also got 4 orders of the prawns, $11 each, cause, why not! For soba, had to go with the classic Ten Zaru (cold noodles, cold broth, tempura veggies), noodles are handmade by the chef each day, and probably equal or the closet you can get to being in Japan. Chewy, flavor is fragrant and such a large portion $24. Also got the cream of morel mushroom, also dipping style, so velvety and rich $25-couldn't eat that every day. Service was excellent and matches any fine dinning establishment, gentlemen who helped us was patient, funny and kind, thank you! The women who checked us out, instead of brining a check (I dislike when places do that when you're still eating or drinking), kindly asked if there was anything else they can do for us, and then asked if we were ready, I thought that little difference was awesome! Note, they do an auto 20% service fee and 18% of that goes directly to both front and kitchen--nice! And anything extra goes just to your server, which for this experience, a no brainer. The prices here are in my opinion low for such high quality!
Kamonegi's reputation is well deserved.
Fantastic, fresh food, fun ambience and excellent service. I've been here a few times now and have sampled a good portion of the menu, and nothing I've had has been anything less than excellent. The wait staff are attentive and friendly, and very good with recommendations for sake, even if you're not an afficionado. My wife and I have already booked our next dinner here, highly recommended.

A small quaint space with dim lighting, perfect for a casual night out with your person. Was able to score walk-in seating within less than 30 minutes on a Saturday night around 8:30 pm, which we spent at the Japanese sake bar next door. Shared a special appetizer (devil's club tempura with wasabi salt) and cream of morel mushroom dipping style soba. The broth was so savory and noodles so fresh! Not a sip of broth was left behind. Then we ordered TWO rounds of tempura oreos for dessert, with a side of pomelo & ginger sorbet along with a salted yuzu lemonade. Honestly one of the greatest meals I've ever had, everything was divine.
Place is small.
Limited seating. Very quaint and charming. I recommend you get here early if you want seats. With small real estate, flow of tables and seating is little funky. Staff is great. I wouldn't say they are the warmest people at first but they warm up. I had the staff pick for me so I don't know what I got. It was fresh and tasty. I got a small app, medium app and soba entree. Food was fresh, taste subtle but not too over powering. I had plenary to eat l. It's in the pricy side but well worth it. It was like 80% Japanese customers speaking Japanese.
Great date night spot! Very high quality soba dishes and I
Great date night spot! Very high quality soba dishes and I love the appetizers. Our waiter recommended the fried shiso leaf with uni & caviar. We were hesitant at first since it's a little $$$ but wow we were blown away. You can tell the soba was freshly handmade and it was very flavorful. The place is quite small though, so go early. The staff is very nice and friendly. Definitely ask them for their recommendations.
Service was amazing! They were attentive but not
Service was amazing! They were attentive but not overbearing at all and very kind. The location was small but it gave a cozy ambiance and didn't feel packed together. Going into this I didn't know what to expect as I met friends here but enjoyed everything from the tofu foie gras to the kabocha wings tempura. Everything had amazing flavor and texture. Left extremely satisfied.
Everything here was really good.
I don't know that many places that does authentic soba noodles dipping styles except for when I went to Japan so I really enjoyed this. We ordered the Salmon tartare and wings for appetizers and it was really good. For drinks we ordered the Habanero Umeshu sake and I really liked this. Highly recommend. This place is quite small so if you go in a big group you might need to be seated separately but very worth it because the service and staff is amazing. We sat in front of a chef his name was Dylan and he was really great to chat with. Lastly this place is right next to a really good sake bar so I also really liked that.
4.75 stars/5 stars. Bf and I were recommended this place
4.75 stars/5 stars. Bf and I were recommended this place by one of the staff members at Han Oak in Portland. We were so excited to try based on her hype alone. We were not disappointed. FYI: Reservations are recommended. We tried to reserve for a few weeks but were waitlisted. I kept checking and was able to snag a reservation for 2 for a Friday evening. The menu alone is GOLD! The flavors are intriguing and not your basic Asian stateside fare. Chrysanthemum tempura? SOLD. This was our fave for the night. Service was impeccable. Food came out quickly. Bf said Kamonegi's chanwamushi is in his top 3. It was flavorful and silky. We loved the deep smoky umami from the dashi broth. And all the yummy surprise bits of shrimp, mushroom, etc at the bottom. The staff was attentive and added to the chill vibes. Our second fave was the cold dipping noodles. So refreshing. I can't wait to get this again when the weather warms up. We also enjoyed the richness of my bf's choice - the mushroom dipping noodles. It was a tad sweet for our tastes, but nonetheless still tasty. The soba noodles for both dishes (made in-house!) were the perfect texture. We ordered the black sesame rocky road and daifuku tempura to round out our meal. This was also good but again, a little too sweet for us. I think the addition of the kuromitsu syrup wasn't needed, since the ice cream, marshmallows, and red bean were sweet enough. Overall, we really enjoyed Kamonegi and are planning more visits. This is a solid date night spot (it's a small and intimate setting in the residential area of Fremont).
An amaziiiiiing spot in Fremont!! They handmake the noodles
An amaziiiiiing spot in Fremont!! They handmake the noodles and come up with unique, delicious flavors. We started off with a cute little watermelon bite, and it was delicious. I got cold noodles, perfect in the summer heat, with cold tofu skin, a slight kick of spice, and a bit of sweetness and sourness. The flavors were excellent and refreshing, and I loved every bite. We also had dessert, made with a unique green pea paste (similar to how red bean paste is made). It's definitely a bit on the pricey side. They have great veggie options though and vibrant flavors. I'd recommend going at least once! A good date spot or evening with a friend. The waiters are really friendly and helpful, and the service is excellent. It's a small spot, and either get there at 4 PM or make a reservation, especially for a big party. Going with 2 is ideal, but more than 4 might be tough.
Great soba!
After the rather restrictive set of rules on what to do and not to do when coming to Kamonegi, I was happy to see that – when they are not too busy – you actually can get seconds! Staff were super friendly and attentive. Both soba and tempura were delicious, the pickles could have used a little more acid. Overall pretty good soba. Compared to some fancy soba places in Japan, I would give it 3/5. But, alas, we are in Seattle and so one has to remain realistic. Note: During winter the space gets quite cold. I like that Kamonegi sends you an SMS reminding you to dress warm. But geez was it cold inside.
Equal parts fun and delicious
I've had this little soba joint on my list for a while, and finally ventured across the lake. The dinner was very enjoyable: from the tsukemono to tempura eel seasoned with curry salt to nanban (it was way too cold outside, so a perfect evening for some hot broth). The handmade soba was absolutely delicious, and the broth outstanding and full of flavor. The staff are attentive without being too hovering. The only nuance was that it was pretty chilly inside - but that is the function of a tiny and relatively old building and a Seattle freeze (literal this time, not figurative). Dress accordingly. PSA: As you book this spot on Tock, Kamonegi comes across as a bit "strict", as they state a list of dietary restrictions they can't accommodate, no seconds and such, but let that not discourage you. The team is actually the friendliest, and they do their best to accommodate your wishes. The initial impression is more due to the fact that it takes quite some time and effort to make soba noodles by hand, and it's a small "production". Unfortunately, I was too full for dessert. Oh well, all the more reasons to come back some time.
Kamonegi is a gem
Came here with my sons who are big ramen and soba fans. We had a delicious dinner with shrimp tempura, uni, and fantastic soba noodles. Best I have had. Our waitress was great and very knowledgeable. If I am ever back in Seattle I’ll be back to Kamonegi.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!

Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
