I was skeptical about staying here after reading the reviews but decided to give it a shot given the great price and that were weren't planning to spend much time here other than sleep. The location is fantastic - close to the subway and central in manhattan making it easy to go north or south. However, everything I had read about in the other reviews were validated - slow elevators, poor check in experience, poor customer service, tiny rooms, etc. Our room also had exposed metal between the carpet and hardware making it painful to walk on bare foot. Overall, I don't regret staying here but wish I would've paid a little bit more for a comfortable stay especially long days of walking and sightseeing!

This is a very busy hotel but the front representatives that worked with me were very nice. They took time with each customer before me as they did with me to make sure my needs were met. My room was very nice, clean, and quiet. The only I missed and wished for was the small fridge for my food that got wasted.

I had to travel to NYC for work and chose to stay at this hotel because of the location and the proximity to the Javits Center however, I would not recommend this hotel. I noticed horrible communication and service when it came between the front desk, valet and the bar/restaurant. the front desk would provide me with a complimentary drink ticket to use at the bar since my room wasn't ready when I checked in (well after check in time). I had to wait over an hour for my room to be ready. then when I was checking out, the valet told me to call the front desk an hour in advance before I would need to get my car, which I did. the front desk never relayed my message to the valet service and I ended up having to wait an additional hour and a half to receive my car. this is extremely frustrating and the communication and leadership at this hotel needs to change immediately. I will not be returning to this hotel in the future. - edit it has taken over 2 hours to receive my car from valet. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel.
Be the first to ReplyThe room is clean and the bed comfortable but the place
The room is clean and the bed comfortable but the place needs a little more work to be up to Hilton standards. The minimalist cool is a little too clever to be actually functional. The bathroom sink is just that, a sink, no place to put anything! Women need a place for our makeup bag, curling iron, deodorant, etc. The ice machine didn't work on the 10th floor (had to go to the 18th) only ice on even floors so I guess the 12, 14 and 16th floor were also out. The charging station by the bedside didn't work - but I did like the large nightstands. No fridge or microwave in the room so don't bring your overpriced dinner back for eating leftovers later. Finally, the only restaurant on site is not good. Only about 10 options with mostly all the same ingredients (and not very cozy for dining.) Hilton, as an Honors member, I'd expect better. Your standards are slipping...

Okay. I don't really give bad reviews unless I feel they're warranted. I stay in a lot of hotels and this one is probably the worst. The good:The staff was really nice and the beds were incredibly comfortable. It was close enough to walk from Grand Central. The bad:Four elevators, 36 floors (not including the roof), and at least one elevator was constantly broken. When we arrived, two were broken and it took us 30 minutes to get to our room. We were exhausted and the last thing we wanted to do was stand around in the lobby. The staff was clearly overworked. When we arrived, it was super busy and the woman behind the counter was a little snippy to me, but it wasn't her fault. They were packed and nobody could get to their rooms. No water in the room. Every hotel I've stayed at not including gross motels would give guests complimentary water, because it's water. When I asked for water, they told me to buy a bottle at the bar. Five bucks for a 20oz water. Luckily two ladies at the bar told me the tap water was delicious, so I just filled up from the sink. They were right! The TV remotes barely worked. This annoying menu popped up every time the TV came on and you couldn't navigate it or get rid of it. The channel guide didn't work because the TV was set for 5:30am and nobody knew how to fix it. I brought a Roku to stream and the internet was so bad, I unhooked it. I've gotten basic internet at every other hotel I've stayed at and it was good enough to stream, but not here. All I heard about was these amazing cookies, but it was never offered and I forgot to ask. I don't think anyone got one.I was excited to check out the rooftop bar. After waiting 15 minutes for the elevator, I arrived only to find out it was completely closed for a rooftop party. That would've been nice to know. The elevators were cramped and slow. It took the TV guy over an hour to get to us and I know it wasn't his fault, it was waiting for those crappy elevators. We ordered food and I had to make sure I left 15 minutes earlier than normal to get it in the lobby because I knew that's how long the elevator would take. The rooms were small, which is expected. The carpet was disgusting and everything looked shabby like it hadn't been updated in decades.I requested the top 3 floors. I know the requests aren't guaranteed, so I wasn't mad at all when we got on the 33rd floor. I figured I wouldn't be charged. When I got my receipt, it said I WAS charged. I asked the lady at the front desk why, and she said because I got within the top 3 floors. I had to count on my fingers to show her that the 33rd floor was 4th from the top. I wouldn't care about this so much except the charge was like $30. Fortunately they took it off.Normally I wouldn't care too much about most of this stuff, but it was a pretty expensive room. I've stayed in worse hotels with much better accommodations.I think the most frustrating thing, the thing that made me want to write this review, is these are things people have been complaining about for years and it doesn't look like the hotel has done a thing to fix any of it. They have an auto-response to bad reviews but nothing has changed.Spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer. I think I'm done with Hilton in general.

PLEASE READ!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! Arrived here after a long trip getting to NYC, me and my wife wanted to check in and get a shower in and go get something to eat. NO HOT WATER! I notified the front desk who sent someone after waiting almost an HOUR WAIT. The engineer already knew about the problem and told me to let the water run for about 20 minutes so the water could heat up? We tried this to no avail and was told the issue would be fixed shortly. We had to leave to make the reservation. When we returned thinking we'd be able to finally shower to be able to go out again not feeling or smelling horrible. Again no hot water after running it for almost 30mins. Again, the front desk was advised, and was told the problem was currently being worked on and assured us that this problem would definitely be fixed. Wanting not to lose out on the day, we quickly gave ourselves towel baths using face towels and warming up water in the coffee maker. Came back at the end of the night and of course, still no hot or even warm water for that matter, again speaking with the front desk, the rep told us that the floor was never going to be fixed and was an in going issue actually on our floor, which some on should of told if this before and moved us. They still had no info of when the issue would be fixed, so now at midnight we were given the option to move to another floor, having to pack up and move in the middle of the night. No suggestion was offered to help move, and had to move to a lesser room on a lower floor without a view. We were told we had to come down stairs first to swap keys and the go back up to new room. No one offered to help move us or even meet us at new room. So in the middle of the night we had to came down with all our luggage, pick up the new key, and do back up again to the new room. This was not the end of our horrific night. I proceeds to open the door to walk into the room at around 1am at this point, when someone lets out a horrible scream. Yes, we were given a room that was already occupied. A wonder scare as a cherry on top to cap off my night. Also, im sure the occupants loved being terrified in the middle of the night as some stranger walks in their room. So, again, I'm left to then take all my luggage down to the front desk, which if it wasn't for my planned week I would of just left, I then got a new key and finally got my downgraded unoccupied room that faced the lovely port authority parking lot. Doesn't stop there crazy enough, apparently we were next to what ever pipes were needed to be worked on for the water issue, so we were so wonderfully awoken to banging pipes in the morning. I kid you not it doesn't stop there, my wife left her curling iron in the previous room, which we called the front desk and request if she could access room to retreat it, they advised they'd have someone to bring it to our room. Which the man who retrieved it decided he didn't need to knock and just walked into the room. Luckily my wife was still in the shower and not out and changing. If you read through all of the horrific reviews that this hotel has, and I'm sorry I did not read them sooner, the unfortunate training of staff and managers, along with maintenance issues is the reason this Hilton branded hotel is one of the worst in NYC. Please don't get lured to the low price that this location offers, it's not worth it, there's a reason they're ratings are low, pay a little extra for a Marriott branded hotel. This is coming from a Hilton gold member, which all they offered me is an email apology and $50 off my 4 night stay. STAY AWAY!

We had a negative experience at this hotel, starting with check in. Arriving to JFK at 6am, we decided to start our reservation the day prior so that we could have somewhere to nap on arrival. When we landed, we were surprised with the app indicating that our stay was canceled and that an email notification was sent. No email! Apparently they auto cancel PRE PAID reservations as no-shows if you don't check in on time! Reservations says this is their policy, but that was not made clear anywhere, and has never been an issue booking with Hilton properties in the past.We were able to reinstate our reservation and arrived to the hotel, where a tweaker was blocking the entrance. Finally, in our final night, the fire alarm went off at midnight and we evacuated to the lobby where we waited in line at the front desk to be told it was a false alarm. The alarm continued to chirp for close to 45 minutes. People in their sleeping clothes jammed the stairwells to get back to their rooms. This hotel is a clusterF!

My party of 3 stayed in the standard double and had a comfortable stay! Pricing was very reasonable for a budget stay in the Times Square area, and the place felt safe and there was always staff in the lobby when I was there (whether at 11pm or 6:30 am). They had some construction going on at the entrance so it took a minute to find the right entrance, but once we were inside, we were greeted by a staff member who helped us to the check in area. Check in/out process was smooth. The elevators are quick, and the wifi was good. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the blankets were surprisingly quite warm. The shower water pressure was good, and plenty of towels were provided. However the counter space in the bathroom was extremely limited and couldn't fit more than one person's toothbrush and toothpaste. There also wasn't a microwave in the room, but they were able to bring a 2nd small fridge up for us when our things couldn't fit in the existing one. We didn't use the tv so I don't know how that was. Although the hotel is located fairly close to busy areas, everyone slept well and it was not too noisy.
Be the first to ReplyI wouldn't stay here again, this place is a sh*t hole.
Bad customer service, Paola the manager is completely useless and is rude she is incredibly disrespectful and had poor customer service. We booked the room for 5 guests, when we got here they had put us in a room with two full size beds. Cause they couldn't accommodate for all of us even though that's what we booked, months ago. We asked for a cot but they didn't have that either, so one of us had to sleep on the nasty floor. The room was disgusting, hair in the sink, jiz on the walls, chips all over the floor and triple x written in the bathroom... After we demanded a new room we were told no and that they would come clean our room, hours later they still didn't come clean. Finally after many phone calls we got a new room, we asked for a fridge because we had lots of food we brought in and the new room didn't have a fridge, hours later they brought us the most disgusting fridge that reeked of fishy orders and still had food in it. The elevators take an hour at a time. I wish I was making this up. I understand that this is NYC but I won't be staying here again, and you probably shouldn't either.
