aRoqa New York Reviews from The Last Year
This was honestly one of the best meals I've had recently.
We sat at the bar and Ninad took amazing care of us. Upon his recommendation we got the kataifi mushroom, bhatti murgh chop, and chicken tikka masala. We were initially hesitant because my friend doesn't like mushrooms and I typically don't go for tikka masala when dining out, but honestly every dish was ON POINT. We also really enjoyed the cocktails and the aesthetic was lovely. This place is a gem, would definitely recommend!
Kind of disappointed in this place.
I wanted some Indian food and this place came recommended as a great modern Indian spot but ultimately didn't live up to expectations. It's definitely got that modern vibe with a contemporary decor and a nice bar. We were seated pretty immediately which was good given it was a Thursday night. We started with the Paratwala Paneer and Corn Paddu to start. Both were very good and had a playful presentation to them. A lot of different flavors going on and it was pretty good. Then we got the chicken Tikka masala and the butternut squash ke kofte. The Tikka masala was very sweet and almost inedible because of how sweet it was. Almost ruined the entire meal for me. The kofte was nutty and flavorful and thankfully although it had some sweetness it was much better balanced. I think as far as Indian restaurants go, you could do much better.
Really good, modern Indian food.
There are almost zero Indian restaurants in Chelsea so aRoqa is an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

We were seeing a show and needed dinner in a fun and delicious spot. ARoqa really delivered. Modern fun delicious Indian food presented in super unique ways. They are know for their mushroom appetizer which we ordered. It wasn't our favorite but what do we know? We ordered a bunch of other apps each came with a fun sauce. The corn fritters were fun and good to share. The chicken tikka masala and chicken Biryani were my favorites. The service was helpful and polite. Of course we ordered dessert - the fried balls of heaven in a rice pudding. Perfect way to end the meal.
I brought my wife here this evening for a Valentine's Day
I brought my wife here this evening for a Valentine's Day dinner. Made reservations days ahead of time and looked forward to having a delicious dinner. Honestly, nearly everything about this place was pretty wonderful. Our server was thoughtful and attentive. She made great recommendations from the menu. The food was delicious. We ordered three rounds of drinks. The evening was pricey (about $250 in total) but we felt it was totally worth it. Until... We had been there about an hour and fifteen minutes and had paid the bill quickly after eating, leaving a 25% tip for our server. We only had to still finish our drinks. About a third of a glass for each of us. So we were surprised when just a few minutes after paying, one of the hostesses walked up to our table, and within earshot of other people, pushed us to finish our drinks since there is "another reservation for your table scheduled to arrive in 10 minutes." We did not know how to respond at that moment. There were plenty of empty tables (seriously, so many empty tables) and there were several customers still at their tables who had arrived at a similar time as we did. The only difference is that we had finished eating before they had. So take from this review what you will. We had a great time at aRoqa this evening until that hostess unnecessarily walked up to our table and said what she said. Left a bitter taste. Everyone was great, except for her.
Indian brunch with bottomless mimosas was the perfect plan
Indian brunch with bottomless mimosas was the perfect plan for this Saturday morning with the girls. Though our group of 5 got seated in the way back by the bathroom and kitchen, we made the most of our experience. We all opted for the $45 unlimited champagne with entree (except for our preggo friend who enjoyed a passion fruit mocktail). I was really disappointed they couldn't do the chicken and masala waffles so I got the Frankie roll. This was yummy with a little kick to it - but sort of a small portion. Luckily my table mates let me taste their paneer macaroni and cheese tikka masala - the winning dish of the table. So flavorful, creamy, and cheesy! Someone got the cheese toast for their entree which was a disappointing portion but exactly what you'd expect: just some cheese on toast. Our server was attentive and always made sure we had what we needed- including full glasses! Cheers!
ABSOLUTELY one of the best Indian restaurant food I've ever
ABSOLUTELY one of the best Indian restaurant food I've ever had. I do not understand the poor reviews. We ordered Habenero Chicken for our apps - simply put, it was the best chicken ever. It was incredibly tender and flavorful. For our mains, we ordered the Chicken Biryani and the Palak Paneer, which were both outstanding. All the food were served in really nice porcelain bowls and plates. The staff were polite and accommodating. This would be the type of food I'd visit NYC for. Btw, I'm Indian and regularly cook a lot of the dishes they serve. Never have come close to it :)
I was very disappointed with this place.
. Biryani was served cold and our takeaway container was also misplaced since our dessert arrived when we were still eating ..We packed our food but one container was missing when we reached home ..It was very rushed service and didn't feel like a Michelin-star restaurant!!! We called the restaurant and they were not even sorry about this ..Dont waste your money here
My friends and I are honestly confused at the Michelin Star
My friends and I are honestly confused at the Michelin Star rating of this restaurant. We ordered two appetizers which were outrageously overpriced for the quality. The fish tikka appetizer was $21 for 3 pieces of fish that did not have any masala flavor whatsoever and 1 piece of asparagus; guess you have to fight amongst your friends who will get the lone piece of asparagus. Now onto the kurkuri bhel appetizier: this dish is easily replicable for much less than what we paid here ($16). The bhel albeit was simple and met the minimum requirements; however, for a Michelin star restaurant, we were expecting to be wowed. To the chef, please consult the advice of local Indian aunties. Michelin... please get your star back. Why this rating is 2 stars instead of 1: Service and drinks were 10/10

Possibly one of the tastiest Indian meals we've had (and I have a tri-state favorite in my own town). Wonderful slightly contemporary spins on classic Indian flavors. GF is clearly marked, and lots of amazing options (fried cauliflower is delish, and fritters are similarly amazing). Friendly staff and nice drinks menu.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
