This was honestly one of the best meals I've had recently.
We sat at the bar and Ninad took amazing care of us. Upon his recommendation we got the kataifi mushroom, bhatti murgh chop, and chicken tikka masala. We were initially hesitant because my friend doesn't like mushrooms and I typically don't go for tikka masala when dining out, but honestly every dish was ON POINT. We also really enjoyed the cocktails and the aesthetic was lovely. This place is a gem, would definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyKind of disappointed in this place.
I wanted some Indian food and this place came recommended as a great modern Indian spot but ultimately didn't live up to expectations. It's definitely got that modern vibe with a contemporary decor and a nice bar. We were seated pretty immediately which was good given it was a Thursday night. We started with the Paratwala Paneer and Corn Paddu to start. Both were very good and had a playful presentation to them. A lot of different flavors going on and it was pretty good. Then we got the chicken Tikka masala and the butternut squash ke kofte. The Tikka masala was very sweet and almost inedible because of how sweet it was. Almost ruined the entire meal for me. The kofte was nutty and flavorful and thankfully although it had some sweetness it was much better balanced. I think as far as Indian restaurants go, you could do much better.
Be the first to ReplyReally good, modern Indian food.
There are almost zero Indian restaurants in Chelsea so aRoqa is an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

We were seeing a show and needed dinner in a fun and delicious spot. ARoqa really delivered. Modern fun delicious Indian food presented in super unique ways. They are know for their mushroom appetizer which we ordered. It wasn't our favorite but what do we know? We ordered a bunch of other apps each came with a fun sauce. The corn fritters were fun and good to share. The chicken tikka masala and chicken Biryani were my favorites. The service was helpful and polite. Of course we ordered dessert - the fried balls of heaven in a rice pudding. Perfect way to end the meal.

I brought my wife here this evening for a Valentine's Day dinner. Made reservations days ahead of time and looked forward to having a delicious dinner. Honestly, nearly everything about this place was pretty wonderful. Our server was thoughtful and attentive. She made great recommendations from the menu. The food was delicious. We ordered three rounds of drinks. The evening was pricey (about $250 in total) but we felt it was totally worth it. Until... We had been there about an hour and fifteen minutes and had paid the bill quickly after eating, leaving a 25% tip for our server. We only had to still finish our drinks. About a third of a glass for each of us. So we were surprised when just a few minutes after paying, one of the hostesses walked up to our table, and within earshot of other people, pushed us to finish our drinks since there is "another reservation for your table scheduled to arrive in 10 minutes." We did not know how to respond at that moment. There were plenty of empty tables (seriously, so many empty tables) and there were several customers still at their tables who had arrived at a similar time as we did. The only difference is that we had finished eating before they had. So take from this review what you will. We had a great time at aRoqa this evening until that hostess unnecessarily walked up to our table and said what she said. Left a bitter taste. Everyone was great, except for her.
Be the first to ReplyIndian brunch with bottomless mimosas was the perfect plan
Indian brunch with bottomless mimosas was the perfect plan for this Saturday morning with the girls. Though our group of 5 got seated in the way back by the bathroom and kitchen, we made the most of our experience. We all opted for the $45 unlimited champagne with entree (except for our preggo friend who enjoyed a passion fruit mocktail). I was really disappointed they couldn't do the chicken and masala waffles so I got the Frankie roll. This was yummy with a little kick to it - but sort of a small portion. Luckily my table mates let me taste their paneer macaroni and cheese tikka masala - the winning dish of the table. So flavorful, creamy, and cheesy! Someone got the cheese toast for their entree which was a disappointing portion but exactly what you'd expect: just some cheese on toast. Our server was attentive and always made sure we had what we needed- including full glasses! Cheers!
Be the first to ReplyABSOLUTELY one of the best Indian restaurant food I've ever
ABSOLUTELY one of the best Indian restaurant food I've ever had. I do not understand the poor reviews. We ordered Habenero Chicken for our apps - simply put, it was the best chicken ever. It was incredibly tender and flavorful. For our mains, we ordered the Chicken Biryani and the Palak Paneer, which were both outstanding. All the food were served in really nice porcelain bowls and plates. The staff were polite and accommodating. This would be the type of food I'd visit NYC for. Btw, I'm Indian and regularly cook a lot of the dishes they serve. Never have come close to it :)
Be the first to ReplyI was very disappointed with this place.
. Biryani was served cold and our takeaway container was also misplaced since our dessert arrived when we were still eating ..We packed our food but one container was missing when we reached home ..It was very rushed service and didn't feel like a Michelin-star restaurant!!! We called the restaurant and they were not even sorry about this ..Dont waste your money here
Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I are honestly confused at the Michelin Star
My friends and I are honestly confused at the Michelin Star rating of this restaurant. We ordered two appetizers which were outrageously overpriced for the quality. The fish tikka appetizer was $21 for 3 pieces of fish that did not have any masala flavor whatsoever and 1 piece of asparagus; guess you have to fight amongst your friends who will get the lone piece of asparagus. Now onto the kurkuri bhel appetizier: this dish is easily replicable for much less than what we paid here ($16). The bhel albeit was simple and met the minimum requirements; however, for a Michelin star restaurant, we were expecting to be wowed. To the chef, please consult the advice of local Indian aunties. Michelin... please get your star back. Why this rating is 2 stars instead of 1: Service and drinks were 10/10

Possibly one of the tastiest Indian meals we've had (and I have a tri-state favorite in my own town). Wonderful slightly contemporary spins on classic Indian flavors. GF is clearly marked, and lots of amazing options (fried cauliflower is delish, and fritters are similarly amazing). Friendly staff and nice drinks menu.
Be the first to ReplyI found aRoqa in the Michelin Guide and decided to give it
I found aRoqa in the Michelin Guide and decided to give it a try as it's so close to my office. I went for a weekday dinner with my mom and husband. To start, we shared the Kurkuri Bhel which had really nice textures from the rice puffs and lotus stem chips, but it had quite the kick! I probably would not order this again to start off my meal as it was rather spicy. We all shared the following Main Plates: Goan Shrimp Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Fenugreek Murgh. The shrimp curry was very smooth and rich, mild in flavor with four shrimps. My favorite was probably the Tikka Masala, the creamy sauce was so scrumptious. I doused everything in it. Everything came with rice, and we ordered Plain Naan on the side which comes with 4-5 pieces of bread. The service was very nice and attentive. I would come back here again for an intimate and sophisticated Indian meal.

My order also. Missed one item. Don't recommend this place

Really nice vibes there and the food is really good
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Indian restaurants in NYC! I love the tapas
One of the best Indian restaurants in NYC! I love the tapas idea so I can try more dishes all at once! Monica was just a wonderful host. She truly care if her customers enjoy the food and if not why! It is hard to find a busy business owner listen to their customers! I will definitely go back and try more of the secret recipe from Monica's mom
Be the first to ReplyThe food was absolutely amazing.
Girlfriend loved the cocktail (third eye) as well. And also just wanted to add that Carlos was an amazing server and looks like zayn Malik, so for any one directioners, this is the place to find your man.
Be the first to ReplyWe came on a Sunday to celebrate my parents anniversary.
We really enjoyed their brunch menu, which for 42/person comes with bottomless mimosas or champagne. What I liked was, unlike other restaurants, not every single person has to do the bottomless if they don't want. You can also order off of their regular menu if you'd like. We all did the brunch food, and ordered some apps. I got the Frankie rolls which were super good. Marinated well and packaged neatly in foil. My husband got the keema pav which was so so good. I tried to l trade dishes but he was enjoying it way too much to swap. The keema (ground lamb in this case) was seasoned to perfection and had some raw onion chopped on top for crunch and flavor. The keema comes with 2 pav (aka buns) and you can make some DIY sandwiches. We ordered the murgh chop and WOW , seasoned and grilled excellently. It was tender and flavorful and they flambé it tableside. The service was very attentive, I don't think I had an empty glass of water or mimosa at any time during our brunch!
Be the first to ReplyAs a loyal frequent customer, I really hate leaving this
As a loyal frequent customer, I really hate leaving this review but I feel as though I've been left with no other option. Went last Friday for dinner and was quite shocked with how we were treated and eventually told "our time is up and we have to leave". I didn't even know a maximum table time existed especially if your continuing to order and spend money as between my guest and I, our bill already reached about $400 in 1.5 hour and we were still going until we were rudely interrupted and told there is someone else who is reserved for our table. Our server didn't really care at all with our requests as we were ordering from the bar every few minutes and kept asking the server to bring all food dishes out one at a time and that we would like to take a break between apps and main course as once again we were trying out all the cocktails on the menu as well but of course he brought everything all out at once and didn't care that we barely have any room on our table as well since we barely even finished the previous dish! Half our food was eventually wasted and thrown out and most importantly our entire night was ruined as we ended up going to another place for desert and more drinksNote: since the owner herself is very obnoxious as you all can see from her response...why don't I also post a copy of my receipt on here to show what my total was and I still had the heart to leave a gratuity to my server who did not care about a single request of mine. As a fellow multiple business owner, there's a saying "customer is always right" and instead of responding with long paragraphs to defend your staff and restauraunt, it would have been much easier to reach out to me directly as since you have done your research of when I was there, how about you also go research the number of times I've also been there in last 90 days with and without reservations and never have I been rushed out and nor will I be rushed out ever again. Obviously you don't believe in customer loyalty as you just lost a very good customer for good. Yes I was enjoying my drinks and night until your restauraunt and staff ruined it. Glad you admit that you don't care about your customers eating/drinking as we could happily moved over to the bar but to be told straight up "our time is up and we have to go" does not ever occur even in the top restaurants in all of nyc! Thank you very much!
Be the first to ReplyI had a small celebration get together.
The front of the restaurant was reserved for us.The owner, Monica, and I discussed a pre-fixe menu ahead of time. It was different... not the typical Indian menu. Aroqa's specialty is small tapas styles plates. And that's what the focus was. We had 8-9 different tapas style appetizers. Each appetizer was delectable and presented beautifully. After the apps, we had assorted breads and biryani. We ended with desserts. Overall, everyone really enjoyed the entire meal but the highlights were definitely the appetizers. Our main server was Sebastian. He was very attentive and very polite .. made sure that we had everything we needed. Service was great! The entire party came away feeling pleased with an afternoon well spent with good friends, great food and drinks and made wonderful memories!Well done Aroqa!
Be the first to ReplyCarlos is a great bartender.
It was only his fifth day. But he was very warm and friendly so I have the coast chicken. Maybe I just have a super spicy palette. I didn't think it was that spicy but it was very tasty. It's dry though. No gravy the garlic naan was good, but we needed a sauce to dip it in the bhel puri was excellent. Love the tomato and cucumber Raita.

Went to Aroqa in person earlier this year and was underwhelmed by the food and ambience but figured I'd give it another shot. Ordered the kofta for take out. It's decent (nothing great but not bad either) but for the price ($23 for 3 pieces of small kofta) there are tonnes of better Indian restaurants. Before going here please compare the prices to Indian accent / junoon/tribeca tamarind/baar baar/dhamaka and so many more. They're all a tier above this in ambience and food.

Great service and amazing food! Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

I have simply never dealt with worse customer service in my life, from front of house, to our server, to the owner/manager/whoever responds to emails at this place. And this is coming from someone who worked in the restaurant industry for 6+ years and can overlook most issues. The complete lack of empathy and understanding from the staff here is just sad. Take a look at every other less than stellar review and you will see a snarky response blaming the customer. Not a way to run a business in my opinion, but wishing you all the best anyways.

We had the pleasure of dining at aRoqa this past Sunday night. Our experience was absolutely amazing. We tried pretty much everything on the menu. The food is well prepared, beautifully presented with an explosion of flavours. Not one dish tasted alike. This was truly a unique dining experience. Be sure to try one of their signature cocktails. All handcrafted, well balanced, beautifully presented and seriously delicious. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We are not surprised that this restaurant was recognized by the Michelin Guide. We will definitely be back!Well done Monica and team!Juriaan Snellen

Went to this place on January 2, 2022 with my friends for dinner. We were 2 Indian couples who are foody. As soon as we enter, I am like wow Perfect place for a double date, dim lighting, amazing seating, just wow and the ambience was amazing. We went there because it was rated as Michelin 2021. We had a reservation so when reached, we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks, and appetizers fairly quickly. We ordered Bhatti Murgh Chop- a nice taste, Basil Fish Tikka- an ok dish, not very impressive and the last dish we ordered in appetizer was Ghost Chili Chicken Kebab- as stated in the menu with 3 red chillies trust me when I am saying that is was dam spicy. My friend and I managed to eat but our wives just couldn't.We had few more drinks and then it was Time to order entree and we ordered Paneer Tikka Masala- creamy sauce on tomato base, did not like it; Chicken Tikka Masala, pathetic, Lamb Curry was ok. How can an Indian Michelin Restaurant not make a good Chicken Tikka Masala, it ruined our dinner. Michelin rated and the presentation of the food wasn't good also. For Desserts we ordered Aroqa Daulat ki Chaat, that was pretty good. I am rating this restaurant as 3 stars just for ambience, decent appetizers, fine drinks, and good desert. For me the main deciding factor is always the entree.

Wow. Best Indian food I've had in New York. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. Because it's tapas style, the portion sizes are small and the bill can add up quickly. Our bill came out to $300 including tip for 3 people. However I still would recommend trying a bunch of different stuff as the food is just too good.
