Super value meal
Came to find this gem in Holland Village. Came here during lunch time and not crowded. Closed the $120 Omakase and is really blowing my mind. Enjoy the quality of the fresh sashimi, fantastic sushi and freshness of the food served. Total of 14 dishes including the soup were quite a value. Friendly service and we are actually by ourselves the whole of afternoon. Will come to visit again for dinner!

Have always enjoyed dining at Yuzu and decided to put up a long-owed review. A small and cozy restaurant, located less than 5mins from Holland Village mrt. The omakase never fails to impress with a great variety and fresh ingredients served. Food portion is reasonable for the price and goes well with the choice of sake available. Good location for small group gathering.

Loved their uni omakase! Ingredients were super fresh and the set was value for money given the number of courses (appetisers, various sashimi, 6 nigiri, rice bowl, dessert and a whole lot of uni) and quality of ingredients.
Service from both chefs was good, although slightly lacking from their other ground staff.
Will be back to try their standard omakase dinner!
Excellent dinner
Well I’m fussy for my sushi having lived in Japan and that was excellent. In for a penny, in for a pound go for the top menu which is Uni overload. Excellent attention to detail and will be back

I always like to have small menu restaurant, clean and cosy environment, although is a little hard to climb up the staircase, hard to locate because the entrance is too small.it is worth the effort because the food is good.

When I want to treat myself, I will make a trip to Yuzu as I'm sure I'll be well taken care of by Tokyo-born Chef Takahashi Tadashi, who keeps an eagle eye on the sous chefs preparation along the counter. The sushi and sashimi are always so fresh and respectfully prepared. Chef won't hesitate to tell his staff to re-prepare if he's not satisfied with the presentation. Whilst I feel sorry for his staff but as a customer, I know standards are always maintained. If you can get a slot for lunch, that's recommended for the lower omakase price.

We order their lunch Omakase which is $120/pax. Very fresh Sashimi, sushi, especially love their Yuzu ice cream dessert. So just sit back and let the friendly chef serves you the best!
I will suggest to call for reservations.
Very mixed feeling. Rather comical if you can see the funny side of it.
Went there for lunch on a Sunday and chose to seat at the bar counter bar expecting to see the master chef preparing the highly rated sushi. The 2 of us ordered the omakase menu ($120 per person + tax) and what follows was a very mixed experience.
There were 3 people preparing the food. The chef was at the far end of the counter entertaining some regulars and spend quite a bit of time talking to his Japanese customers which was ok I guess. The middle of three was more experienced and kind of kept an eye on the young apprentice who happened to be right in front of where we were seated.
The initial dishes like sashimi and the fried items was prepared by his apprentice and even that we have no issue with.
What was rather unprofessional was when food were put together in front of the guests they made all kind of mistake - 2 mixed platters being served but with items missing from each plate. They were brought to us and then upon being spotted took back and re-arranged. Poor chap was then given a scolding too. Then the sashimi which came without the wasabi and again have to be taken back to the counter and have it put back. The mini chirashi was meant to come out pyramid shaped but in the process kept collapsing and attempts made to put back up. He eventually gave up and just squashed the whole thing and flattened it. There were so many more unfortunate moments exposed in front of us.
When it comes to the sushi, they were indeed prepared by the main chef working at the opposite end of the counter. He was still busy drinking sake and beer with a larger group but managed to bring over 2 pieces of sushi at a time to us and quickly introduce the name of the fish in japanese before retreating back to his end of the counter.
So what did we think of this mid market Sushi place?
The price is not exactly mid market (for $120 you can order something decent at Shinji during lunch time) but to be fair the food here especially the sushi is of high standard.
It felt like seating in an episode of Gordon Ramsay's hell kitchen minus the swear words. We felt embarrassed by the amount of mistake on full display in front of paying guests.
I think it is mostly the fault of the oversight chef, to place someone who is clearly out of his depth to work in the front facing role. And the chef was too pre-occupied with the regulars and more or less ignored us during our 90 mins visit. Unlikely to go back again.
Best Japanese restaurant in Singapore !Unbeatable !
Have been to Yuzu more than 10 times . Everytime the quality is consistant and food so fresh prepared! Chef Taka san really put his passion in the food! From the detail of decoration to choose the best fresh ingredients ...
most people thinks Shinji is the best Japanese restaurant in town. But Shinji charges top price also! And be honest I feel the food still not comparable to Yuzu!
The quality and the price you pay in Yuzu is probably 1/3 or 1/2 of what you pay in Shinji.
I actually don’t want to share this review because I want to keep this secret gem place for myself but I think I would like to let more people know this place where you really see the heart of chef —-he loves his job and takes it seriously!
