Sadly Nothing Special
We were here with my husband and oldest child to grab a VERY early dinner before a first concert experience at Red Hat. Most of the clientele were happily day drinking and we were ordering a full-on meal. We had the chef's board, which was pretty standard, but nothing special. I had the beet salad, which was sadly underwhelming. I wanted more flavor. And I have no idea what my husband had. It was hot as blazes, so we didn't want anything heavy. We were happy to fill our bellies, but this was nothing special, sadly.

Found via trip advisor, just a few minutes walk from the convention center and hotel. First as you walk in the wide open space had a great feel. Second there are walls of whiskey (should you be in the mood), we were greeted and seated at once out waitress Cece was great, I got the fried chicken sandwich (with cheese, pickles, sauce) and a side salad. We got fries to share (large enough for a group of 4 or 5. All tasted wonderful. My coworker got the steak sandwich off the daily specials menu. Just a great way to wrap up a successful trade show.
Be the first to ReplyI might come back for the crispy broccoli
Met some family here on our way through. Stopped for drinks and dinner. Despite the place being empty, the service was extremely slow, I believe we had a broccoli appetizer that was delicious. We were very pleased with our meals I think we took a lot to go. Seemed a bit pricey overall.

Staying close to downtown. Googled restaurants with good bar scene. Found Whiskey Kitchen. So glad we did. Arrived early. The place was already buzzing with most tables outside already taken and a good crowd indoors as well. We were offered inside or outside seating but opted to go to the bar. Had a front row seat to watch the magic the bartenders were performing by crafting what seemed like 100's of different cocktails. Danny served us. Great guy. We engaged him in a short conversation about our interests in Raleigh and he didn't hesitate giving us all kinds of suggestions for enjoying our short stay here. We tried a couple of Danny's suggested cocktails which were delicious. Started out with the Chef's Board which was a generous array of cured meats, cheeses and crisps. The only thing disappointing was the white bread. Too airy. Needs a chewier, toothsome bread. We had the Shrimp & Grits which were great. The tomato bourbon sauce was very flavorful and had a not-too-spicy but bit of a kick to it. We also had the BBQ Pork Sandwich. OMG good! Our choice of side was French Fries and they were so perfectly prepared and seasoned. For dessert we tried the Shoo Fly Pie. Never having had this dessert before, it was too sweet for my taste, but probably is representative of the classic. We will definitely be back, if not on this trip, our next for sure. Thanks Danny. You and the rest of your crew are top notch.

We love Whiskey Kitchen, but dang it was so hot in there. Please close the door to the patio (easy)?! My wine was even hot. We had reservations for dinner, but left after the app, too hot and flies were attacking. Always great service and severs/bartenders, but management should be using common sense when it’s 100 outside.
Be the first to ReplyTennessee Whiskey has nothing on Whiskey Kitchen in Raleigh
I had gotten reservations online yesterday morning for Whiskey Kitchen at 6 pm because I had the Peter Frampton concert at 8 pm at Red Hat. When my friend and I arrived at 6 pm, the place was jammed packed with folks so I was super happy that I thought ahead of time. Guess what?!?! They did not have my reservation because it was for a Whiskey Kitchen in Tennessee. Yes But, Chris Stapleton has Tennessee Whiskey. But, Jeff saved our evening and got us a table because this mistake apparently has happened before! Who would believe it, right!?!?!? Anyway, this was my second time at Whiskey Kitchen and I absolutely love their professionalism and their attention to their customers. The shrimp and grits is a crazy good dish; followed with the lemon cake which is warm and perfect sets the evening off to a fantastic start. Thank you Jeff. You saved our night and we cannot say enough about your restaurant. Your wait staff was spot on and so very nice in the hustle bustle of all your clientele. We had a perfect experience...as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.

Came here randomly Saturday evening—luckily we found a few seats at the bar. Love the ambiance here! They have a HUGE bar selection, tons of whiskey and bourbons. Food was okay—we got the Lamb Burger, BBQ Sandwich, Banger & Boxty and Crispy Broccoli. Service was great and food came out relatively fast!

A frequent visitor of Raleigh, this is the second time that I have been to whiskey kitchen. It’s a cool place, a little loud inside as it has a big open dining area, but it also has a very nice patio in downtown Raleigh. The food was good and our server was very knowledgeable about the beers, and the different types of whiskeys. I highly recommend this place for a night out with friends or just a nice dinner and drinks.

Visited 3 times on a business trip to the US. I'm a huge Scotch fan and wanted to try some American single malts. The staff were very welcoming and the knowledge of the bar staff was superb, special shout to to Jonny who went the extra mile. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
