My family brought my parents here for their anniversary and
My family brought my parents here for their anniversary and everyone had a great time. We requested for a table with a view when we made the reservation and we had a window table with a great view of the bridge and their interior aquarium tanks. They were also very sweet in preparing a card for my parents to wish them a happy anniversary. I didn't get many pictures since I was dining with my family but food and service were great. Food - - acme sourdough 5/5 - good bread with a pillowy center but good crust. Served with butter, as a SF native, I can never say no to sourdough! Note that is listed on the menu as a side. - clam chowder 4/5 - a thinner, non-New England style chowder with bacon bits giving it a smoky and salty flavor. Mom wished there were more clams though as her bowl didn't have much. - ahi tataki 3.5/5 - an order comes with three but our server helped place our order so we had one bite per person - very helpful! The dish comes with a seared piece of ahi tuna served over a crispy rice ball (almost nigiri style) with some cucumber, furikake, and spicy mayo. A bit messy to eat and the rice was too hard. - Dungeness crab cocktail 3/5 - tasty crab meat but the crab was very broken. Served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and Tabasco (plus an extra side of drawn butter, courtesy of our server!), I prefer lump crab meat, especially during this season where we just had an abundance of great Dungeness crab. I would skip this next time. - seared black cod 5/5 - with a crispy crust on the flaky, fatty black cod, this dish was an absolute winner. I really enjoyed the salsa and Chile relleno which helped add acidity and brightness to help cut and complement the fattiness of the fish. - coffee crusted ora king salmon 4/5 - this also was cooked just right with a nice sear. I enjoyed the mushrooms and hazelnuts with this dish but it was less dazzling than the other entrees. - oak roasted shellfish platter 5/5 - family favorite! Well cooked Cajun risotto with Dungeness crab, tiger prawns, mussels, and clams. One note is the menu listed andouille sausages but there none. Nevertheless, a great dish to order and share family style. - French fries, fingerling potatoes, and cauliflower rounded up our meal. I really liked the yogurt and bacon-red onion jam combo that the cauliflower was served with. - coconut rice pudding 3.5/5 - coconut flavor with fresh fruit but nothing to write home about. I'd skip and try something else. We also received a complimentary dessert of small chocolate bites for my parents' anniversary. Good ambiance. Good food. Good service - special thanks to Jameson for making my parents very happy with his good humor and service.

The ambiance is wonderful, service good, and our drinks were good, however, thats all I can say that's positive. Our meals were mediocre at best and the seafood bisque was downright awful - it was lukewarm, consistency of wallpaper paste, tasted like a butternut squash soup. We may be spoiled because we live on the east coast and have wonderful chowders and bisques, but this was really unpleasant, three of us had this soup and no one could finish it. We also ordered the Chicken dumpling appetizer, nothing special at all, the dough was tough, another dish no one cared for. One person had the lamb and took several bites, fatty, tasted "off" and that was it, couldn't eat it, no one else cared for it. Two people had the trout, that was fine, nothing special. Ordered the cheese plate for dessert - two pieces of cheese and some sliced baguette - wow. It was honestly one of the worst meals I've had in San Francisco, and the prices for the quality of the food we received was not worth it, not even close. I would have said something to the waitstaff, but we were guests of another couple and I didn't want to be rude or embarrass them because they chose the place. If you want a pretty place to have a cocktail, fine, but be very careful what you order. We were so disappointed.

Amazing experience here :) I came on Saturday at around 2:30pm. They have HH from 2:30-5 pm everyday and it's such a good deal. They bar seating is self seating. Oysters are $1.55 and they are fresh and delicious. HH beer is $5, wine is $8 and select cocktails is $10. I suggest finding a spot at the bar and enjoying the view of the bay bridge and beautiful day.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a dinner on the outside patio.
Interior bar and outside space was a bit cozy. Good for small groups. Patio had an amazing view of the SF/Oakland bay bridge. Seeing sunset and bridge lights turn on was a highlight of the meal. Great views. Food was 4/5. I had the blackened cod. Perfectly cooked, but portion was a bit on the smaller side. Menu was priced a bit on the higher side. Place to visit occasionally for an anniversary or date.

Definitely a must try place in Embarcadero during Happy Hour. They change up their oysters everyday and HH prices are only 1.55/piece! We tried their salad too. The service and the views of the bridge are as good as they get. The servers are nice and the place is split up into two sections, a sit down and a more casual walk in kinda section. Street parking is available on main and spear st! HH doesn't take any reservations but regular dinners require a reservations. The dinner menu has a lot of seafood options but is limited to seafood only and not many vegetarian options. I have tried their Brussels sprouts and cauliflower as a side but other than that they do a great job with their seafood options.

Waterbar is a perfect place for work lunches, dinners, and other celebratory meals, and that is exactly what we did. My team and I went here for lunch, and we had such a great time. Their food was incredibly delicious! I ordered the vegetarian ravioli, and it was very tasty. I believe the filling was some sort of squash(?), but whatever it was, it was very creamy. The creamy texture of the ravioli was a perfect pairing with the crunchy texture of the seeds. It was a great mix of crunch and silkiness in every bite, which made me want more. I also ordered the Petrale Sole, which was also a star on their menu. At first glance, it seemed underwhelming, but the flavor brought out its stardom. I am never a fan of carrots, but every bite of the carrot was dreamy. The fish itself was very well-seasoned and paired well with the vadouvan and Greek yogurt. On top of the delicious food, the customer service was fantastic! Before going here, we were reviewing the online menu and were each looking forward to specific dishes - mainly the rockfish and chips and baked oysters. However, the online menu is out of date, and the restaurant changes what they serve on a daily basis. The waitstaff and the chefs were able to accommodate our needs and decided to make the baked oysters and rockfish and chips that day. Ultimately, everyone was satisfied with their meals, and I am very glad that we visited this restaurant for our work celebratory lunch.

Overall, my experience was satisfactory. The highlight undoubtedly lies in the spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge, for which one pays a premium. However, my order of baked oysters left much to be desired. The oysters were notably small, overshadowed by an excess of toppings. While the flavor was commendable, the portion size was disappointing, leading me to reconsider ordering them in the future. On a positive note, the drinks were of decent quality, and the bartenders provided attentive service. Perhaps exploring the regular menu would offer a more fulfilling dining experience.

We tasted like 4 different oysters all were very tiny and salty. Having the same flavor to me. Also the baked oysters had no flavor. The added ingredients over took the actually oysters that's just how tiny they were. The Margarita was decent. Oh and the chicken dumplings was a NO too again so very Tiny! It was 4 of them for $16 with a broth type if sauce. Very nice views though down by the water. The stars are for the cocktail and views.

Date of Visit: 3/4/2024 Waterbar was regarded as one of the San Francisco's foremost seafood restaurant, insisted in high standard of seafoods and vegetables. Located on the waterfront of Embarcadero, just south of the Cupid Span sculpture and next to the Bay Bridge, featuring panoramic views of the bay! We were sat at the main dining area near one of the two fish tanks. With bay bridge view on one side. It was highly recommended to make a reservation even only 1 hour before, since the restaurant was packed during Monday dinner hours. The Queen Bee $17 I got the Queen Bee cocktail with Barr Hill Gin, St Germain, and Lillet as the base. Added the chamomile honey, Prosecco, and lemon, which made it as a crispy and light cocktail. Forbidden Sour $18 Husband got the Forbidden Sour made with Bourbon, figs, vermouth. And on top there were egg whites and pink peppercorn. Dungeness Crab Cocktail $28 The Dungeness crab was sourced from Oregon coastal area, Coos Bay. Peeled crab with lemon and cocktail sauce was an amazing appetizer. Oak Grilled Whole Dorade Royale $49 I got the whole dorade as my entree. On the bottom of the whole fish there were Farro Verde, carrott vadouvan mousse, and caraway seed vinaigrette. Coffee Crusted Ora King Salmon $38 Husband got the Ora king salmon that was raised off shore in New Zealand. Salmon was cooked with coffee crusted skin to medium rare. Beneath were braised leeks, mushrooms, pickled salsify, oak foam, and hazelnuts. Crisp Brussels Sprouts $13 Crispy Brussels sprouts with Yuzu Remoulade, toasted hazelnut, and chervil was a great side that went well with seafood! Waterbar Proprietary Old Fashioned $22 Ordered a bourbon based old fashioned cocktail. Blood Orange Sorbet and Amaretto Ice Cream $12 For dessert, we had two different flavors of ice cream and sorbet. Both of them were amazing! Highly recommended!

Came here for a little date night, and it was such a wonderful experience. The view here is almost unbeatable with the water and the bridge. The food here is quite pricey, but they do it justice. We started with the Ahi Tuna Tataki and the Rapini & Brussels Sprouts Salad. The Ahi was such a good bite, though I was expecting the rice to be crispier. The salad was refreshing and light, and I loved the balance of sweet and savory in this. For mains, I got the Ora King Salmon, and my boyfriend got the special of evening, which was a Steak with a Seafood Risotto. The salmon was hands down one of the best I've ever had. It was soft and perfectly cooked but had a crispy top to it, and the sauce really pulled it together. The steak special was also very good -- I personally really liked the risotto in this one. We also got a bottle of wine, and ended the night with their Apple Crumble dessert. This was divine. We also got some complimentary brownie bites with our dessert, which was so nice of the staff here. Our server was the sweetest and the ambience here is immaculate. Definitely a solid spot for a date or a more refined gathering :-).

The service here was phenomenal, however the oysters was rather disappointing. The oysters were small and had a fishy taste.I would not come back for their oysters, however I would come back for a nice date/ night out. The venue offers an amazing view of the bridge. It is also a short walk from the ferry building. We came here for a quick snack, and they surprised me with a complimentary treat for my birthday!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Great service. Great ambiance. Highly recommend especially for romantic dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGood deal on chef's choice oysters.
(Others are priced very high.) Food's a hit or miss. Ambiance is kinda old school. Of course the old school view is cool.

I was craving some oysters last weekend and was looking for some restaurants that offered oyster happy hour in San Francisco. The staff here is professional specially considering the receptionist and the waiter who was assigned to me. The other staff on foot also seemed professional.I was offered to sit on the bar but I got a table and enjoyed having my lunch here. The Oysters were tasty, the taste of this oysters was fresh and I enjoyed them thoroughly. The trout that was offered wasn't as satisfying as I expected. I would definitely not order it again if I ever visit the place. The water from the tomatoes and trout mixed up and created a puddle in my dish which seemed similar to the puddle caused by the rain in san Francisco.Though I would definitely prefer to come here for the oyster happy hour again. which was definitely worth visiting.

Accommodated seating preference with beautiful views of the bay bridge, sunset, and aquariums. 10/10 would recommend to friends and will be coming back (Reposting review from original account)

Went there for happy hour aiming at !! we chose to sit at bar so we did not have to order entrees since those would make us too full. We got there too early so we ordered halibut tartare and tiger prawns to share while waiting for 2.30 to order oysters Halibut tartare was served with chip and way better than I expected while tiger prawn was huge and the sauce was so flavorful. We also ordered Riesling and our bartender was so friendly and professional. We got to taste it first...2:30 Time fore oysters !! We started with 2 dozens( because that was the limit per round) then another 2 dozens with Prosecco....Such a nice late lunch in a nice place and nice service. Can't wait to come back in the summertime to sit outside enjoying the view as well.FYI happy hours are 2.30-5 and oyster is $1.55each selected beer wine and cocktail are also offered during that time. Parking is horribly hard to find so taking Uber is a better choice.

*Was gifted a 75$ Gift Certificate because of my last review*I coincidentally was sat in the same section as last time with the same waiter. Did not catch his name this time but our experience was much better. I would like to give an honorable mention to Alexi(?) he was not our waiter but we did over hear him interact with his customers and he was just so delightful to listen to because he was so kind. We had also asked for lemons from him and he was just so chipper and our little interaction was so nice. Food: - Oysters: they were shucked better than last time but they were not throughly cleaned 7.5/10 - Old Fashion: I personally did not drink this but I was told it was just okay 7/10 - Rock fish: was so good! I thought the gigante beans were okay but the sauce and rock fish was made very well 9/10 - Smoked Salmon Pastrami Sandwich: Really good, the salmon was very very salty so having the bread and mascarpone with it helped neutralize the intense flavor 8/10 - Toffee pudding: this was the star of the show imo, it was well balanced and amazing. 10/10 - Ube pana cotta: we were gifted this and it was a new dessert item but this was also very delicious, the freshly made boba had great chew and my partner really enjoyed this 10/10Overall, this experience was definitely better than our last one and my partner enjoyed his whole experience. I also was pleasantly surprised with how the food came out this time and how the service was definitely more attentive.

Caught up with a friend after work on a busy weekday evening, got seated immediately at the bar (tables need reservations). We got the soft shell crab, uni soba, and egg drop soup. Service was slow to receive the food but servers let us know they were busy and coming. ***Soft shell crab : the batter was light & airy and crab was juicy! Definitely appreciated the tart avocado sauce and cucumbers that were in contrast***Uni soba: perfectly light & refreshing. Just wish they had more uni (;**Egg drop miso soup: best surprise was the fresh sweet corn that was a pop of flavor to an otherwise typical miso broth. It came with small shrimp too, a bit salty but it paired well with the soba.Appreciated the change in plates/utensils after the soft shell crab. Overall would come back to try their HH menu.

This was the worst restaurant for the money - and for the reputation - I have every eaten at. My wife and I had lunch there today with a couple we have known for 48 years. Three of us had the grilled Salmon with noodles and it was terrible. It was under cooked and sour and the noodles were cold, dark and filled with tasteless nuts. Still it cost $29.00. They charged for a small hump of bread that was tasteless. The service was also very slow. The views of the San Francisco Bay and the Bay bridge which has been extolled were very limited from the outdoor courtyard. The parking at 25 Folsom across the street was very had to access and exit by car and on foot. I will never even consider going to the Waterbar again.

We went there for a special event, and it was the perfect setting. The food was good, the drinks were good. The view is spectacular. If you go try to get an outside table.
Be the first to ReplyOur server, Theodore, was wonderful.
However.. We came to celebrate my cousin's birthday. When she sat down, one of the chair legs broke and she fell.. embarrassed in front of everyone. To get this straight, she's not overweight. What was supposed to be a fun and celebratory dinner soon turned into, "Should we leave, everyone keeps staring and laughing.." And look, I get it. You're trying to run a business. But we were also trying to celebrate a milestone in someone's life and what was supposed to just be a nice dinner turned into "I'm so embarrassed". We're not looking for a free ride, but when the experience starts like that.. and nothing was offered to amend it?... just poor ethics and hospitality. Again, the service was great. I just can't believe that there was zero accommodation for the udder embarrassment that transposed this evening. We were also told that this had happened before.. as if that would make the situation better? It makes it worse to me. Sit at your own risk. Lol (we know it's funny, but c'mon Waterbar- show some compassion).
