I had stumbled upon Wakuda after looking up unique places to dine in Las Vegas. My husband and I appreciate places where you can go and have an experience - with high-quality service and ingredients. We love Japanese cuisine and WAKUDA looked like the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised and their impeccable attention to detail and 5-star service. Our reservation was for 18:00 but given our time zone difference we were already hungry. Luckily the restaurant opens at 17:00 and we were able to be seated earlier than planned. The hosts at the front desk were friendly and approachable and automatically commended us on our anniversary celebration, seating us with a smile while once we were shown to our booth. We had Travis taking care of us, who, also offered a congratulations to us and asked us if we'd been here before and what some of the most unique options were on the menu. We like to try items we cannot typically order at home so we opted for a nice selection of the Aburi New Zealand King Salmon sushi, Japanese A5 Wagyu sushi, the night's specialty sushi which was a black perch, makimono Tuna roll, miso soup - traditional red miso rather than typical white miso was quite tasty, and the grilled octopus. I also wanted to sample Sake and opted for the flight of three to see which style we preferred. This was a nice way to taste the varieties and see the difference in the tones when we were enjoying the flavours of the meal. Having decided on one, Travis offered a glass of one of their premium selection Sakes, KIMINOI - Emperor's Well - which was served in a wine glass for optimal aromatics and tasting. This Sake was delicious! Having finished our miso soups ( a la fin) we were given the recommendation of their miso and coconut ice cream for our dessert - to carry through the miso tastes we had just enjoyed. It was topped with gold leaf foil and presented to us with Happy Anniversary written along the plate. We had a wonderful experience at WAKUDA. Perhaps we'll have the opportunity to try the sister restaurant in Singapore. Highly recommend this place from the ambiance to the service.
