Great atmosphere and beautiful place to enjoy amazing food but VERY strict 90 minute limit on the weekend. We were told we could take time ordering and add more dishes throughout but it didn't really play out like that. We were given the check before our last dish arrived and we weren't allowed to order more food, drinks, or dessert which was a disappointment. Luckily there's lots of great places nearby to finish the night. Would probably be fine for a date but not enough time for a group.

I save 5-stars for truly special restaurants and Wabi on Rose certainly earns it. Amazing sushi, great location and attentive staff.Sat outside in great horseshoe booths and let the chef select a sushi tray to share. Must have was the fresh Uni!Worth the trip!

Food still great as well as drinks, unfortunately service almost non existent. Server only popped up once to take out order and I don't think I saw her again. We Ordered sushi platter and they just dropped it without explanation. For price tag I expect better attention to details and more service. I understand it's more Binet low key spot but some thing just needs to be done. Hope to see better service next time. Meanwhile giving it 3.5 starts

Wabi entails a cute bar-lounge ambience that just happens to emphasize a Japanese menu. This is not really what I'd call an authentic sushi place, and that's okay, but you'll want to know that because you'll be paying a similar high price for pretty but not amazing sushi. Most of the indoor seating is around the bartender's bar, with a separate small sushi bar area off to the side (probably because it's not meant as the focus), a few tables scattered around, and an insane amount of outdoor seating on the sidewalk with very limited heating options. Even with a reservation, they tried to sit us at a table outside during LA's cold spell - no, thank you. Then they said the bar was walk-in only, so we walked right up and sat at the bar. I came for dinner, and our food wasn't entered in properly so we ended up waiting ~40 minutes while asking for updates - only to find out that they made our food as a takeout order instead and had to send it back. Then another 15 minutes to wait for everything to be prepared again. For the price, just know you're here to have a good time and catch up with friends - but not to have a serious, amazing meal.
Be the first to ReplyLoved this super cute restaurant on Rose.
Came in on a Saturday for lunch and it was not busy at all we got a table super easy. The menu had a nice range of items to appeal to children and adults. As it was our first time the server took time to tell us about some of their more popular items and they did not disappoint. Our server was very nice and attentive making sure we had what we needed.

My bf and I had such a great time here tonight! I'm vegetarian and the Greenie roll was delicious as well as the miso soup and the garlic edamame. My boyfriend got the midnight rain which he loved as well. Wes made sure we had everything we needed - we couldn't ask for a better server! Would recommend 10/10
Be the first to ReplyCool spot, decent food , trash service.
I would go somewhere else. Server will disappear, like literally. I hope he's ok. We never saw him again after we placed order.
Be the first to ReplySuper fun ambiance and aesthetic.
Good time here with friends and is very much an LA vibe. I was impressed with their California roll with real crab instead of imitation crab, really delicious. At the price we paid, I expected a bit better quality of raw fish for nigiri. Specialty rolls are better and more worth it than the raw fish nigiri.

The perfect place for a date night or celebration! Wabi on Rose is a go to for higher end sushi. With additions to their rolls like truffle oil and gold flakes, you know it's going to be good. The ambience is fun and the restaurant is amazingly decorated. Also don't skip the drinks-wabi is one of my favorite places to get a good cocktail!

Wow, went back for my bday dinner and had a great experience. Food was amazing! I'd recommend !!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Japanese / Asian Fusion restaurant in Venice.
It is definitely a scene, it is loud (sit in one of the booths outside!), but the food is good and service is nice (although seems short staffed on a busy night...). Yes it is overpriced but you pay for its cool vibe and beautiful plates!
Be the first to ReplyFun location, good drinks, decent food.
Wabi is located on Rose, which is a super vibrant street. Came here on a weekday and the restaurant were all packed. Wabi is a cute colorful Japanese spot- here's what we got:_Chili garlic edamame - it's good but also what you would expect :-)_Crispy rice - again pretty good but what you'd expect _Rick James roll - PASS. There's a lot going on._Midnight rain roll - GET THIS. _Wabi spicy rita - It's a spicy margarita lol_Uggs in summer - vodka and watermelon. I'd recommend the spicy rita instead. _Sorbet dessert. PASS. I would come back with friends or coworkers.
Be the first to ReplyI LOVED the sushi here.
I've had a lot of sushi in New York, LA, Israel, Cape Cod, Florida, and Maine. The Sushi was great, but none of it even compares to this restaurant. The quality of the food was phenomenal, the flavor was delicious, the service was quick and I loved our waiter. We ordered a ton of food, so I was impressed that they remembered everything and by how quickly everything came out because they were also PACKED with customers lining out the door, filling up tables, the bar, and their booths. The restaurant was beautiful including the bathrooms. We ordered the Tiger King Roll and The Rick James Roll. We also ordered the scallops, the baked crab roll, the shishito peppers, and other delicious items. We also had people in our party with food allergies that they were able to accommodate. Most of the menu was adjustable to fit the needs of someone who is gluten-free, which is rare in Asian cuisine. The floral wallpaper combined with the neon lights and the gold mirrors and fixtures on the wall really brought out the beauty and elegance of the restaurant's ambiance. I was impressed by how classy everything was, and it was easy to find a parking space. The only thing that I would like to mention was that they added an extra item accidentally on our bill at the end of the night, but they took it off without any issue. I will gladly come here again and if you're in LA you would be crazy not to come here.

3.5 ratingAmbiance is great! Great scene beautiful patio and plants. Nice server. Solid spot for a girls night. The food is not worth the price, at all. If you like real fresh sashimi, and quality ingredients, don't go here. You can eat much better for the same price across the street. Wabi is more about the colorful, saucy rolls presented in a Fun way. Some of their rolls incorporate cooked fish and all use a sticky, doughy rice. Our king crab roll was maybe a little bit of king crab mixed with mayonnaise and something else that basically was a creamy gel inside gooey rice wrapped in seaweed. AVOID THIS if you are going for fresh crab meat. LolThere are several other places that offer much tastier cocktails for the same price. It's more about the fun scene and less about the food. Tip* avoid the street seats bc you get ambulances and homeless people passing by every 5-10 min and the smell of gasoline doesn't really go well with the food.

Good drinks, good service but the food, although quite fresh was off flavor wise for my preference. The spicy edamame tasted like they just tossed it in sriracha, which was a shame because the means themselves were great quality and super fresh. The buffalo karaage chicken was way too overpowering with vinegar. Also that wasn't a traditional karaage style fry but whatever who cares the flavor wasn't right.I got the midnight rain roll and the flavors were good but you'd think that with all the fancy ingredients it'd have some more nuance. I couldn't taste the black truffle through all the stuff in it which was a bummer. Maybe I have covid? LOL
Be the first to ReplyHad dinner with 4 other friends here a month or so back
Had dinner with 4 other friends here a month or so back while they were visiting LA. We ALL ended up getting FOOD POISONING. The food was decent in the moment, but CRAZY expensive. And the food poisoning really sucked. They also rushed us out even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded. I called them to tell them about the food poisoning (talked to Brent). Told them how it forced two of our friends to cancel travel plans to Mexico that week at a major expense to them. Brent apologized, said he would see if there was something they could do and get back to me. He took my number, but even a month or so later I still haven't heard anything back, even after calling them a second time. Basically, if you want to waste a lot of money and time and then puke it all out later, this is the place for you!

So lovely! I tried this place on my solo trip to Cali for work and felt very comfortable here. The food was excellent. I had the sushi lunch combo and the rice appetizer. Also tried the rose ice cream for dessert.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best place ever.
Highly recommend. Tea serving is amazing. The food is like gastronomic orgasm. Thank you guys.

LOVE all of the food here! I haven't had anything here I don't like. It's a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Food is amazing.

Trendy vibe is perfect if you care more about your IG post than what your sushi tastes like. Do not confuse for a high quality sushi restaurant, it's primarily here to capitalize on basic Venice night crowd. Maybe I had unfair expectations for a well crafted meal and service -- you will have a passable dinner here -- but there are too many places in LA earning your business to ever return or recommend.Food:Ordered a mix of sashimi, sushi rolls, etc. Edamame to start. Nothing was coursed out, so our starter edamame arrived after yellowtail special (did not taste particularly fresh, mediocre flavor), and spicy blue fin tuna. Minor but indicative of the poor food commitment here. Rick James roll that is highly touted was overly sauced, and a few of the rolls were poorly constructed to the point of falling apart. More than that, flavor was lacking. Not sure how it could taste so uninspired with everything they throw on and in that roll. Can agree with previous reviewer that the crispy rice seemed stale. Felt myself wishing we had gone to our neighborhood joint with a "Lexus" roll on the menu, which is probably a good indication of how pathetic the sushi was here.In general, nothing was particularly fresh tasting, I'm not a sushi expert but it was clear that only a passing grade of fish is used here. Guest treatment from the beginning made it clear that this place is surviving on trendy location on Rose and Instagram stories that gloss up mediocre dishes. I'm told it could have been an off night from folks who have been recently, but what kind of restaurant can't bring it on Saturday night?Experience:Had an 8pm reservation Saturday night, made at least a week an advance. Arrive, and after the host person brusquely rushes past, are checked in, brought back outside the restaurant toward a side walk table. Cold, windy night so we kindly ask if we can wait a few minutes for something inside or in the garden. We're told that's 45 more minutes, and that we should have put that request in the notes of our reservation. PROCEEDS TO SHOW US ON THE IPAD HOW TO ADD A NOTE TO A RESERVATION, because we haven't used a smart phone before, and clearly should have known you have to ask the place you're about to pay $200 to not sit next to a fire hydrant and an alley.Got a drink at American Beauty down the street while we waited (considered just dining there, should have), 10 minutes in we're notified our table is ready. If host person recognized they are in hospitality industry, could have informed us it was unlikely it would actually take 45 minutes. Poor form.Returned, given decent high top table inside the garden. Nice ambiance, music bumping, very lively. Cocktail menu extremely limited in scope and spirits, but full bar available. Cocktails themselves are sufficient, but not noteworthy.Waiter fine, nice enough.

Had an amazing time here on a Saturday evening visiting friends. This would be great place to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. The vibe is very hip and cool. The music can be a little loud but a fun ambiance. We were seated outside so got a little more space and we would inside. Service was very fast and friendly despite how busy it was. The food was bomb!! A little pricey but worth it. The cocktails had a Mexican twist. The fish was fresh and the presentation was creative. My sushi had gold flakes which was fun. The dessert was good too. We shared the special marshmallow meringue with rose ice cream center. Very good!
Be the first to ReplyVery cool people working here and I love the set up.
Very cool space to meet with friends and have drinks. The food on the other hand, not so amazing.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is beautiful and great for people watching.
Service was very good and drinks were good. The food unfortunately is mediocre at best. The Spanish Octopus was burnt, dry and very salty. Sushi was just ok. Vodka-based cocktails quite tasty. So come here for the vibe but not for the food.
