San Fran highlight
Exceeded all expectations. Beautiful atmosphere, great service and most importantly delicious & innovative dishes. We had the wine pairing and enjoyed very tasty salads, main courses and super sweet desserts. The baked Alaska was a real highlight!

Tried everything. Everything was amazing! The huevos rancheros are sooo good. The waffle is delicious.
Be the first to ReplyAn Elegant, Affordable Dining Choice
Nestled in the Proper Hotel, Villon offers an exquisite selection of finely prepared food underscored by superb service. For an excellent lunch or dinner out, give this a try. My wife and I recently had a lovely meal here as an early anniversary celebration and look forward to a return visit soon.
Be the first to ReplyToo expensive. Never again.
Dinner tonight at Villon. The district is very unsafe. Nice dining room in Proper Hotel. Unpleasant welcome from the girl at entrance. Unable to give an advice for parking. No Smile. Nice cocktail list, expensive wine. Good food but too expensive. We select the Chef’s menu at 95USD. Good food but duck is cold. Wine is never served. We have to do it by ourselves. At the end the bill is at 470 USD plus service. Really too much. And last surprise: the parking with Valet is at 56 USD for 2 hours, just a joke. Never again.

Highly recommend. Service with Terry? (I am so sorry - mask was on so I may be wrong) was amazing and super friendly and accommodating. Our daughter eats cereal for breakfast so we travel with our own - he was super accommodating and we even joked over the cereal - as I felt it was kinda odd to bring cereal to an upscale place. Drinks are delicious too and the food is just phenomenal. The proper breakfast was my go to for the time that we stayed there.

Great place for foodies! Ambience exotic, very urban but chill. I enjoyed tasting menu which the chef complimented additional courses. Wine list awesome! I’ll return!
Be the first to ReplyMy high expectations were met. Great evening
Fantastic selection on non-alcoholic drinks in addition to the extensive selection of alcoholic drinks. The chef’s menu was amazing. Every dish was outstanding. Professional and informative staff. Ideal for a luxury pre-theatre dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea Fit For A Queen........
This was my first tea experience in America, and it was awesome; prior to this, I had only had tea in London and France so as you can see the expectations were set pretty high. First off, the hotel that Villon is located is gorgeous. Loved the vintage décor, the bar was really nice and the hotel itself was centrally located. The tea experience itself was wonderful. They have it from 2-5pm just outside the restaurant. The tea sandwiches and pastries were delish and of good quality, tea selection was nice and the ambiance a delight, however I would say the only thing that took away from the tea ‘experience’ is that they mixed it with other patrons having just a drink and/or lunch. I would’ve much preferred have all those doing tea in one area bc it just takes away from the ‘tea’ ambiance. Other than that, everything was great. Oh, service was also awesome; everyone was attentive to our needs.

Stopped in for craft cocktails, our drinks were amazing and the service was excellent! The bartender was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyNot your average hotel restaurant!
While staying at the Proper, we ate at Villon four times (three for breakfast, once for drinks). The menu is perfectly varied and has something for everyone. The service is impeccable -- we absolutely loved our server, Ricardo, who we had three mornings in a row! Overall, a fantastic dining experience!

Ate here with five people. Not a single complaint. Lots of items to choose from including pasta and seafood dishes. Service was good too.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding!!!
As we were headed to see "Hamilton" down the street, our son recommended Villon. Wow wow wow!!!
First, it's gorgeous, very tasteful and interesting furnishings. The service was outstanding. The food was amazing. Between the 4 of us (one of whom is vegan), we had the gnocchi, chicken, sablefish, brussels sprouts and grain porridge. Each dish was terrific - not huge portions, but just fine - and interesting.
An excellent wine list, but we had brought our own ($25 corkage). Prices aren't low, but then this is a high-end restaurant in San Francisco, isn't it.
2 enthusiastic thumbs up!!!
Pricy and Upscale. We stopped
Pricy and Upscale. We stopped by and grabbed the last two seats at the bar at 5:30 before our 7:00 Hamilton performance. We spent $100 on two crab appetizers, one shared entree and a glass of wine.
The crab appetizer was interesting and worth trying, but tiny.... not the “shareable salad” it was described as. My husband had a large piece of crab shell in his. The fish entree was very well prepared. The chef is creative.
The bartender was entertaining and knowledgeable in his craft... stop by for that is you’re into it.
We left hungry.
Good looking food, tasty too
The food was tasty and quite instagrammable. Service was friendly and the space superb. Overall a nice evening. Just nice, nothing special or memorable, except for the high prices.
Be the first to ReplyGreat taste, friendly staff, 2 blocks from Orpheus theater (Hamilton)
The food is superb. The portions are adequate but not abundant, so if you feel hungry enough to get appetizer and first course and main course, go for it.
We had the chicken liver pate and the mushrooms for appetizer, skipped first course, and had sablefish and roasted chicken for dinner, with Brussels sprouts on the side. Every bit was divine.
Make a reservation if you want to sit in the dining room, but they offer the same menu at the little tables in the lobby.
Great way to end a perfect evening!
We stopped in for a drink after a performance at the Orpheum and ended up having 3 drinks each and an appetizer. What kept us there so long was the bartender, Andrew. What a great person! He made our evening! The ambiance is also quite nice but a constructive suggestion to management would be to replace the current uniform (totally don't get it!) with something that makes sense :)

I flew in from NYC for a getaway weekend. I was staying with friends in the afternoon and decided to stop for lunch before getting to my friends place. I had one suit case with me and was told no one could hold the case for me while I have a meal. . I didnt want my suit case next to me while eating so I left. Not a great level of service.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced
My partner and I visited here for brunch on a Saturday a week back. Decor aside—which is a beautiful Art Deco style in a soothing blue tone—the food and pricing left me wanting more. San Francisco is expensive I know, but the food didn’t really hit the mark for me, and it wasn’t for lack of trying.
The avacado toast was decent, and as expected. The Villon breakfast had a variety of options on the plate, and all were half decent, but it was an overwhelming buffet of random things that appeared to be warming out back for some time. Cocktails were a no go based on price. Service was ok.
On pricing, it ain’t cheap. Also, the website appears to constantly list incorrect prices to the actual menu. As at 9/28, everything listed online was $1-2 more in store than online. I now see $28 listed for the Villon breakfast, whereas it was $20 the day I was there. It DEFINITELY isn’t worth $28–save your money folks.
