Amazing, and thank you!
Our experience at the Sagamore was nothing short of exceptional! This marked our tenth consecutive year of making cherished memories with friends and family. Nestled amidst breathtaking scenery on Lake George, the resort offers picturesque views that never fail to captivate us. The staff’s warmth and hospitality ensures every moment of our stay is met with genuine care and attention. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, and luxurious. The food and drinks are always amazing! The rec center is second to none, with a wiffle ball field, basketball courts, miniature golf, and way too much more to list! The Sagamore is an unforgettable blend of beauty, comfort, and unparalleled hospitality- a true testament to why we keep coming back year after year. Finally, a most sincere thank you to the amazing staff- you are all appreciated more than you will know!

Our annual stay at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing was nothing less than spectacular! We are always so impressed by the beautiful grounds, oversized suite with fireplace and welcoming staff. We indulged in top notch cocktails and delicious meals on site, and all the waitstaff were so friendly and accommodating. Our children absolutely loved the variety of options in the recreation center, indoor pool and outdoor warming pool - they were entertained for hours! We will definitely be back!

Amazing Resort in an amazing location. The views are stunning and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious. We enjoyed all the activities and amenities the hotel had to offer but it was the staff that made our stay wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend you check out the spa. Looking forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyAnnual friends group trip to the Sagamore, Bolton Landing, NY
We recently stayed at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY with a group of families and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The service and food was exceptional, along with the rooms and facilities. This is our tenth year visiting and look forward to returning next year.

Great Getaway for the Family. It can be tough traveling with small children (a three year old and a six month old) but thanks to the wonderful staff and accommodations at the Sagamore we had such an amazing time. The resort also has the best breakfast and a wonderful rec room for the kids. We will be back again soon.

Another fantastic stay at the Sagamore! Our annual neighbors trip to the Sagamore resulted in 7 families making the trip to beautiful Bolton Landing. Adults and children all enjoyed the amenities at the resort from the pool to the recreation center. The lodge rooms were comfortable as always and the updates in the main hotel did not go unnoticed. The wait staff at all the restaurants were extremely accommodating and friendly as always. And whatever the dressing is on the salads at Caldwell’s ….. kept me coming back for more! I need that recipe. I look forward to my time at the Sagamore each year and this year certainly did not disappoint. .
Be the first to ReplyLoved the Sagamore!!
As a child, I had vacationed in Lake George many years and had always enjoyed the beautiful and pristine lake, boating experiences, lake activities, etc. While boating on the lake, I was always extremely impressed by the grandeur of The Sagamore Resort, it was stunning. Recently, my husband and I were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity for our first stay at the resort, and it far exceeded our expectations. The resort was gorgeous and extremely well maintained. The staff was courteous, friendly, responsive and accommodating. The rooms were nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the view of the lake was exquisite and breathtaking. We loved the activities at the resort and found that we really didn't need to leave the resort/island. Activities we enjoyed included the talk about the history of the resort, the cooking demonstration, the gym, trivia night, the singer at the firepit, lounging in the outdoor heated pool, to name a few. The food was amazing and delicious, and there are several great options to choose from! I'm thrilled that we are planning to return to the Sagamore for our summer vacation with adult children in a few months.
Be the first to ReplyThe Sagamore is a fantastic hotel to stay at! We have been here 5 times!!!
I wanted to say that I had a blast at The Sagamore hotel. The lady Shellie at the front desk was so nice & accommodating & the waitress at the pool bar & lunch named Eugenia was very sweet and attentive to our needs. She brought the hood out quickly and checked up on us the whole time we were at the pool.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid The Sagamore
The Sagamore was a disappointment. Our accommodations were sufficient but everyday was a chore to get cleaning service. There was a front desk associate that boldly accused me of not notifying the resort of my upcoming stay with my dog. I assured her that I had email communications with a Sagamore associate regarding this matter. I provided his medical records, age, breed, size, name and his therapy certification paperwork. I was told he was not allowed in the main building despite the fact that their policy does allow therapy pets in their main building. The associate assisting me with this matter was Monique White. She was adamant that I intentionally deceived them to avoid the $100.00 /day pet fee. I retrieved my email correspondence and was pleasantly surprised that it was Monique who had received and responded to my email sent early in December. I was directed to the Shift Manager, Connor B., who was very polite and understanding. He graciously offered me a bottle of wine. I declined. He then proceeded to offer me the typical corporate resolution of money.....a whopping $100.00. I paid over $600.00/day to stay there and I will NEVER go back. I will advise my clients traveling with their pets to avoid The Sagamore.
Be the first to ReplyOur first and only time staying here
We had such high hopes for staying at this resort for the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, but it fell so far short. We booked a lodge room with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Our main, issues with the resort came down to cleanliness and general service issues. Prior to arriving it was hard to get in touch with anyone to make a dinner reservation, ask about onsite services or to book babysitting. Once we arrived, in our room we found piles of trash on our deck, including half eaten sandwiches and trash bags, something metal protruding from an outlet, a sink drain not working, spiderwebs in the corners of rooms and standing water in our dishwasher. On top of that, housekeeping never vacuumed our room. I could tell because the crumbs that were dropped were never cleaned up and I had to pick them up each day because it grossed me out. I should have brought my dustbuster!!! One day, around 5:45pm I called asking whether housekeeping was going to come, and I was told they work 9-5 and I must have missed them (we did not) and that if I needed anything I was supposed to call for it. I was asking for fresh towels, more paper towels and the trash to be taken out so it was a preposterous response. One night there was a debacle when we ordered room service that we were going to pick up, and they sent it out with the delivery person whereupon it was lost on the property for 30 min before we went to pickup spot and were able to find our dinners. To add insult to injury, they were all missing half the contents of the dinners so the kids were very disappointed and hungry. The only positives were the rec center, pool, and the superb babysitters that were arranged for us.
Be the first to ReplyAnother fantastic time …. For the 8th year in a row
We had Another fabulous experience this past weekend at the Sagamore. This is our 8th year in a row staying at The Sagamore. We visit this fantastic resort every year with a minimum of five other families. This is an ideal location for groups of friends or a family reunion. The accommodations are wonderful, all of the staff were extremely attentive and the food at the restaurants was delicious. The breakfast buffet is top notch and the spectacular view from the main dinning room compliments the food perfectly. view. There are numerous activities on the grounds and the rec center kept the children and adults entertained for hours. The children ranged in age from 2 - 15 years of age and all of them had a fantastic time. The addition of the outdoor heated pool and igloos this year was particularly enjoyable. We look forward to our visit to The Sagamore every year and we hope to contort his tradition for years to come. I have not had the pleasure of visiting other Opal properties but I will most certainly consider them for future vacations as this resort never disappoints.

This is our 10th time going to the Sagamore Hotel with our friends for a weekend getaway. This place only gets better with each passing year. From the impeccable service and attentiveness of the staff, to the beautiful elegance of this historic hotel, it offers everything you could want. Not only is there an amazing full service spa and gym, both an indoor and outdoor heated pool with heated igloos. It also offers a full recreation center for the children equipped with an indoor baseball, basketball, mini golf and rock climbing wall that provides hours of entertainment. The facility also offers a beautiful full service bar that overlooks the lake and provides beautiful scenery to all. There is a restaurant (opened all year) with a wide menu of Italian inspired dishes. The hotel also offers a breakfast buffet that is outstanding-pancake, waffle and omelet station, seasonal fruit, delicious pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs Benedict to name a few. You will not be disappointed! Book your trip today!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Weekend Getaway with the Family
Anyone with toddlers knows, traveling with them is never easy or relaxing. The staff at the Sagamore however made our weekend getaway with our 2 year old feel like a dream. We actually felt relaxed afterwards (and that NEVER happens when traveling with kids). We go every year and the service is always great but this year they’ve gone above and beyond by adding some additional touches. The rec room, which was amazing to begin with, had additional activities (such as build a bear and movie nights) for the little ones. They also opened up a heated pool outside. I can’t begin to describe how magical it was to be nice and warm in a pool with snow around us, while overlooking the gorgeous lake. This was an unexpected surprise that truly elevated our experience. Our room had some additional upgrades as well, new and improved mattresses and even bigger TVs. For food options, the restaurant serves a breakfast buffet that I look forward to all year long. It is not to be missed. And dinner there is always a great option as well. If you want to venture out a little bit the Sagamore will even provide a shuttle to take you and pick you up from Fredericks. Amenities aside, I can tell you it’s the kindness and helpfulness of the staff that really puts the Sagamore above anywhere else we’ve stayed (and we’ve traveled to many many different places). Thank you to the beautiful Sagamore and the wonderful staff for truly making this a magical experience for our family. If you want a relaxing family getaway, look no further, this place is perfect.
Be the first to ReplyBreathtaking Property & Impeccable Service
Each year we visit The Sagamore with friends. The accommodations are always incredible and everyone is entertained- adults and kids ranging from ages 2-17. The property is breathtaking, the staff and service is impeccable. The kids love the pools (indoor and outdoor) and the REC Room provides hours of entertainment. The restaurant and bar are outstanding. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve ever had. We can’t wait to go back next year!
Be the first to ReplyWinter break
The Sagamore never disappoints. We always have the best time and it’s priced appropriately for what you get. We went for winter break and brought our two young children. The rec center was perfect and our six year old loved the inside mini golf course, the rock climbing wall, the baseball field… the crafting room. We all enjoyed the pools. Room was perfect as always. Nothing out of place. We called for a high chair and it was brought immediately. The valet brought all my luggage to the lodge suite we were in, put my stroller in the back of my car, parked it for me and brought my keys down to me. Mr. browns pub was a crowd pleaser three nights in a row and the servers were great with our kids. Food was delicious. We truly enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back! See you this summer.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Getaway!
My wife and I went for a weekend (for her birthday)…. The room, staff, food and overall experience was top-notch. We took advantage of the pool (indoor and outdoor), ice bar, indoor bar, on sight activities, fire pits and restaurant there. You literally don’t have to leave premises. We did go snowshoeing and was given great guidance from staff / where exactly to go. Everyone there is genuinely friendly with a focus on excellence. I sincerely recommend the Sagamore for a weekend getaway. While we were there as a couple, there were many family’s with children having the same fun. Our favorite part of visit is just getting a glass of wine and sitting in front of lobby fireplace.
Be the first to ReplyFamily friendly winter holiday
Lodges suites are spacious with beautiful winter views of the lake. Large bathrooms, compared to small bathrooms in main hotel. Water pressure good. Sound proofing not so good. Dinner in pub was fine, atmosphere better. Breakfast buffet was spectacular with beautiful setting. Nice convention facilities and exercise room full of equipment.
Be the first to ReplyAll show, no go! Form over Substance!
Just OK, no value here! Depends on what you want out of an extremely expensive vacation. If you want to enjoy beautiful scenery, good food and sit around doing poor to mediocre activities if any at all then this is your place. The food is very good but limited selection and EXTREMELY expensive. The drinks are the same EXTREMELY expensive. Th e rooms, bedding, towels, common areas are exceptional. But that's where it ends, don't expect anything else. Family of six checks in, only two bottles of water in the room. Only 4 towels, two robes which do not fit larger guests....See what I'm getting at, complete disregard for the details. Personally, I want a smile with meaning behind it. I don't want the entertainment staff on their phones or watching shows on the computer in the rec center. They couldn't careless about the guests and the games/activities they organize. Bingo on laminated paper with cut out pieces of paper to cover the board, only one game played three times in a row (Ridiculous), Free throw contest only one round and done in 20 minutes. Whiffle ball bat is broken and taped with duct tape. Balls disappear and are not replaced. Vending machines broken so you can't get a drink except from a water fountain. The REC center as a whole is there for you to do all the things you could do at home, NOTHING special about it. By far the worst display of an entertainment staff I have ever seen. The ghost tour, maybe 30 minutes of your lucky. Sounded as if it was thrown together that morning. Didn't even tour the main areas where the activity was. POOR effort. Indoor pool was nice except for the window being open to control humidity so you were freezing cold a minute after exiting the pool from the cool air. No activities, no balls to throw around, no drink service, NADA, poor effort. Outdoor hot pool, couldn't be used unless you risked walking over ice covered paths in 20 degree weather. Front desk staff is surly and just BLAH, not rude or anything like that but they enjoy spending their days hiding in the back room. They made us make reservations for the restaurant but it turned out to be 90% empty, seriously, know your numbers. Props to a couple of people who salvaged the trip: The older gentlemen driving the shuttle was very nice. The young guy at Valet from Cortland was very helpful and nice. The maintenance guy who came to fix our TV was a nice guy and gets what customer service is meant to be. Thank goodness it wasn't busy. I can't imagine waiting in line for anything at this place when they are busy. This place is stuck in the last century and needs a major, personality and staff adjustment. For as beautiful as it is what is going on there is a travesty. Hospitality is dead when you reach into your pocket every hour!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Weekend
We take the kids a couple of times a winter and they love the indoor pool. It is beautiful. This weekend they told us the hot tub was being repaired but the outdoor warming pool was 93 degrees. They also had heated igloos you could use beside the pool. We have been coming here for years and this was the first time we saw the pool heated and open in the winter. Amazing being out on the lake in a heated pool. Incredible views. The staff, as always, was great.
Be the first to ReplyChristmas Memories
We were most fortunate to stay here Christmas for two days, following 3 days at their sister property, the Lake Placid Lodge. The grounds and main buildings were professionally and tastefully decorated for the holidays. We especially enjoyed the white themed lobby. The views walking down from the terraces to the lake were breathtaking, even with a slight breeze in the air. This was our second time visiting during the holiday, this time we chose a comfortable lower lodge, ideal for our dog’s access outside, full kitchen, and spacious living area with full kitchen. We dined in Caldwell's for lunch, La Bella Vita for Christmas dinner and Mr. Browns for dinner our last evening. The food and service were all on point, just like our last trip. Special thanks to the La Bella Vita Dining Room Manager, who shared he has been there 18 years, I mentioned his dad took great care of us at the Lake Placid Lodge. The Emporium shop is located just off Caldwells and offers a variety of logoed apparel and local items. All four of us had new Spa hydro therapy facials which were simply the best ever! Elizabeth the provider and Johanna at reception both provided memorable service. Our kids used the extensive Fitness Center and pool, both very clean and well maintained. The Rec Center was huge, offering something for everyone. The historic charm of this legendary resort could be felt watching other families smiling during our stay. Sagamore Resort will continue to be at the very top of our go to holiday escape, with passionate service and friendly, attentive service.
Be the first to ReplyThis used to be very high end but has went downhill.
Booked a romantic 3 days at a place I remembered for outstanding views, service and accommodations. The only thing remaining is the beautiful views. It’s hit or miss on whatever person you encounter for service. The food was not impressive for dinner. I would recommend leaving the resort and trying a local restaurant. Breakfast and lunch are fine at the resort. Rooms are beautiful but the resort seems overpriced. Sorry to say I can’t recommend the place. There are a lot of other places to stay that are less expensive with the same amazing views. The Sagamore overpriced historic resort trying to survive on its laurels.
Be the first to ReplyStill love this place
This is our 3rd or 4th trip and we still love it - resort is well run, service is great and everyone is friendly. Plenty of amenities for kids no matter their age. Lots of nice free touches that make the resort fee seem worth it. The rooms are starting to feel a bit dated, and for the price, you would certainly expect a bit more of a newer feeling. But it’s clean and well kept and remains a special destination in this area.
Be the first to ReplyService poor - overall everything else great
Randy the history guy is the friendliest staff on the resort! Worth hearing his talk. Hotel is in impeccable condition. The 10 am boat trip (free) is a must do. Breakfast buffet had lots of fruit and fairly priced. But the valets, front desk staff, maitre ‘d etc. are curt and unwelcoming. First impressions matter a lot!
Be the first to ReplyDisney World of the North
This is a beautiful old hotel with spectacular views and grounds. The rooms are nice, comfortable and well appointed but not really worth the $1000+ a night price tag. The food is wonderful and the staff is excellent. friendly and very helpful. It would be a "romantic destination" if it weren't for the seemingly one thousand kids running around everywhere! My husband and I are currently staying here and are on a quest for a quiet corner or nook other than our room to relax and/or read. Last night's dinner at la Bella Vita was such a cacophony of noise with large groups and families on either side of us that it took an hour of quiet in our room to unwind from the stress. We haven't been at a resort with so many families with so many children since we took our daughter to Disney World 30 years ago. There should be some designated spaces where people without children or who have already raised their children can go, enjoy drinks, dinner and/or just some space to themselves without hiding in their rooms.

There is so much to love about The Sagamore - beautiful hotel, friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and lots of amenities. We stayed in the historic hotel and the room was absolutely lovely. Admittedly, I booked this trip only a few weeks in advance and paid top dollar. It did not live up to the price paid. It is a big resort with lots of guests so do not expect to find a quiet corner. My primary disappointment was with the dining options - they are very limited. Yes there are 4-5 places, but the menu is nearly identical at each location and very limited. The food was average and typical for a chain family restaurant. Despite paying for this expensive resort, we found ourselves frequently leaving the grounds for food. While we had a overall nice time and this is the nicest place on Lake George, there are equally as nice places to stay in the Adirondacks for a fraction of the price.
