We waited in a very long line to have a seat in the famous Raffles Bar and have a Singapore Sling. A waste of time and the biggest rip-off ever. About $35 for a tall glass of ice with roughly three sips of the actual drink. We wanted to go into actual hotel and check out the historic lobby but the security guard stopped us because we were not registered guests. (And never will be with that kind of attitude). Since when is a hotel lobby not open to the public? Snobbiest place I have ever encountered.
Be the first to ReplyService at raffles is amazing.
But I guess it should be considering how much it cost per night. It does come with free breakfast for 2 each room.their breakfast at mireo is the better one for sure. Quality is amazing compared to the buffet breakfast at the higher floor of the hotel which is shared with Fairmont. Their room which are suite styles are spacious and clean. Only thing I wish is they were in bgc instead. Makati is kind of dirty and polluted outside. But aside from that, there isn't much you can find about this hotel to nitpick on. Definitely highly recommend if you can afford it.
Be the first to ReplyYou have to have a Singapore Sling in Singapore.
They may fine* you if you don't. The Singapore Sling was created for the ladies, an underserved clientele at the famous Raffles Hotel way back in the day. Today at $32 (Singapore) it may be the most expensive drink you ever tasted ordered but who said bragging rights come cheap? The peanuts are free, though. Eat up! *"Singapore is fine city," seems to the big joke of n the souvenir shops.

The absolute most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in! I was fortunate to stay at Raffles Singapore- truly one of the best hotels in the world. I arrived in Singapore at 7 am and the hotel was very generous and let me check in at 10 am. I'm so lucky! The suite was exquisitely decorated in colonial style, high ceilings, white marble bathroom. The room had all of the features on an iPad, I can summon the butler, order room service, turn off the lights, television, open the curtains - absolutely the best. I was so impressed with the staff. Take the hotel tour with Leslie, the historian who has been with the hotel for 52 years. The afternoon tea was great, the breakfast also had Chinese dim sum and Indonesian food. As a hotel guest, I received the blue fabric slippers, the nicest pair I've ever taken from a hotel. My stay at Raffles was so memorable and magical, and I cannot wait to return. I recommend splurging at Raffles - you will never want to leave!

We went for the afternoon High Tea and it was beautiful, delicious and filling! They also had a Vegan set which was delicious. Sage and Bernard were two staff members who made our experience so lovely, as they were friendly and offered up additional recommendations of things to do and see in SG. We ordered the Rogue Opera and Casablanca teas and both were delicious and delicate, so they went well with the food. The sandwiches and cakes were all delicious, but I LOVED the scones - plain, raisin, and bacon & cheddar - and the cream and rose jam were perfect. We also got a glass of champagne and it was a nice touch. Definitely something I will do next time I am back!
Be the first to ReplyThere are many fine hotels to stay in while in Singapore
There are many fine hotels to stay in while in Singapore and I chose Raffles because of its history as well as an enjoyable stay in the past.Raffles doesn't have the generic cookie cutter feel of many of the larger new(er) hotels and that is also part of its charm. The architecture is beautiful, the location is good and the staff is welcoming and really - the greeting from the doorman while pulling up from the taxi never gets old.Perhaps because I am a hotel guest I was able to make last minute dinner reservations without a problem.I booked a fairly large room and though the room's balcony doesn't have much of a view, I still like the quiet and peace it provides. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and recently remodeled.Raffles is a great hotel choice while in Singapore.
Be the first to ReplyIt was very pristine and beautiful.
It was a very elegant hotel and we were able to walk around but not enter we were not guests. There is shopping and food around so it was nice to explore.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place for ambiance and hospitality.
It's one of more expensive places I've been to but it does stand uniquely in Singapore's history. Go to the Long Bar (on the second floor) to have a Singapore Sling, created here. Also pricey drink but worth it
Be the first to ReplyAloha from Honolulu and this review has been a long time
Aloha from Honolulu and this review has been a long time coming. I am writing this for Liana at the Raffles Hotel Gift Shop.... She deserves high kudos and thanks from a grateful shopper! Liana had the most professional demeanor and helped me acquire almost 15 polo shirts and T shirts and some wonderful Raffles Hotel gifts as well. Her exceptional service was Five Stars and more... and she made wonderful suggestions that made my shopping seamless. Â As a returning overseas Singaporean, living in Honolulu, I obviously overbought but was extremely happy with my purchases and what made this visit extremely gratifying and memorable was the fact that with all my purchases, I had to catch a cab back to my home in Bukit Timah. Â After I left Raffles and was waiting for a cab, minutes went by with no sign of a ride... and somehow, Liana spotted me waiting and she came out of the Raffles Hotel Gift Shop to help me with all my shopping bags and best of all, she kindly offered to help order me a ride via my Gojek app and I felt like an Angel had just helped me. Â She even waited until my ride arrived. Â My experience at the Raffles was awesome thanks to Liana and I really would like Management to highlight what an exceptional employee Liana is. After my mandatory 14 day hotel quarantine in SINGAPORE in mid September, 2021, I was so appreciative of Liana's help with my shopping needs, her sweet demeanor and most of all, her caring attitude. Â Exceptional service! Â Well done, dear Liana. Â With much Alohas, Serene

period. Stunning architecture from the British Raj era, with exemplary service as well. Have dined at 3 of the restaurants on site, and our experiences have been great. The decorations put up during Christmas are also some of the best in Singapore.

A MUST to go when visiting Singapore! Afternoon Tea in the Grand Lobby was great fun, the sandwiches, tea and cakes are delicious. Also, my boyfriend  enjoyed shopping at the Raffles Boutique - not the cheapest, but an awesome place to buy souvenirs! This was my experience couple of years ago and May be in 2022 I would visit again

If you have a World-Wide Pub Crawl Bucket List, you need to add the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel to the list. I'm not a fan of fancy cocktails, so the Singapore Sling was not much more than a passing fancy to try. But, the yard of Tiger Beer I had was FANTASTIC. The long fluted glass with the glass bulb at the end is obviously a sobriety test. A few too many beers and you'll find yourself staring down a golden wave of beer heading straight up your nose or all over your shirt. Do yourself a favor, even if it's just taking advantage of a day or two stopover in Singapore and head to the Long Bar.
Be the first to ReplyMy fiance and I had a 4 hour layover in Singapore.
Last time we were in Singapore in Oct 2018, the Raffles Hotel was unfortunately closed for renovation. So, we had to make it this time to try the LEGENDARY SINGAPORE SLING!!!The Long Bar is where it's famous for, but by reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, the whole process sounded awful. Instead, my fiance and I made a reservation at the bar downstairs, called Raffles Courtyard. This was a beautiful outdoor bar with comfy couches and umbrellas, a nice alternate bar that also serves the Singapore Sling! It was quiet for a Saturday night at around 7pm. Also, I don't even think that we would've needed the reservation. It came out to $25 USD per sling, but it was damn good and worth it in my opinion. Gave us both a good buzz to Changi Airport! Also, they give you a fun card that talks about the history of the Singapore Sling. Basically back in the day, it was not socially acceptable for women to be caught drinking alcohol. The bartenders at Raffles Hotel decided to make a drink that disguised the alcohol, that was fruity and feminine, thus creating the Singapore Sling. If you are curious about the Singapore Sling, you need to come here and get the Singapore Sling!!!!
Be the first to ReplyThe Oldest Hotel in Singapore recently renovated and
The Oldest Hotel in Singapore recently renovated and reopened with a grand event on October 18,2019- which also happened to be our wedding anniversary. Â We got a tour of the suite style rooms, toured the luxury watch shop, had a signature Singapore Sling in the Long Bar, tried some tasty bites at a couple of the restaurants, and checked out the historic images and archives in the gift shop. Â While we didn't stay overnight- it was certainly worth a day trip to explore the many offerings inside the hotel. Â I highly recommend it as part of an historic and iconic look at where Singapore has been in the past and how it's looking to the future.
Be the first to ReplyWhile vacationing in Singapore, our friends wanted to try
While vacationing in Singapore, our friends wanted to try the afternoon tea at The Grand Lobby in the Raffles Hotel. Â This hotel has been closed for a couple of years at least due to the renovation. Â Our son had his wedding there and we had tried their food at a couple of their restaurants. Â They all were very good and I really miss it. Â Well, apparently, they are back in business and I must say, it did not disappoint! Â First, the renovation was extensive, it revived the Raffles Hotel in a bigger scale. Â It kept the beautiful colonial style but with a modern touch. Â Everything is first class, including the afternoon tea! Â Usually, my husband complains about not enough food at all the high tea places we went but this time, he did not complain about being hungry after! Â Their portions are generous. Â We loved their finger sandwiches, scones and their in house strawberry rose jam that they don't sell! Â The top layer was our least favorite but by then, we were stuffed! Â Our server, Gibson (whom by the way is very professional and funny) even asked if we wanted more scones and he gave us more jam. Â The scones were not on the 3 tiers but served separately. Â Everything was just perfect for high tea. Â I tried to have high tea/afternoon tea in all the countries I have visited. Â Raffles by far is the best! Â All of us came hungry but left very satisfied with a full stomach! Â We had a marvelous time and great experience. Â Highly recommend making your reservation way ahead of time though!

Be the first to ReplyOne of the highlights of my trip to Singapore! Everything
One of the highlights of my trip to Singapore! Everything about the hotel is absolutely immaculate and stunning, and the service offered absolutely amazing. My brother and I came here for their afternoon high tea. The interior is amazing, and we were sat immediately for our reservation in the pristine lobby. Service was quick, and we were served our teas and champagne immediately. It was some inaugural event for the hotel, so they had a reserve champagne specifically for this event that we had the pleasure of trying. It was delicious, as were the teas we ordered: the jasmine green and Maori blue. When the food platter came, we were stunned. I've been to many teas, but I've never been to one in which so much food was served. We both immediately regretted having breakfast, but we powered through our sandwiches, scones, and pastries. My plate was an absolute mess as I wanted to try everything but couldn't finish it all, but I have no shame. The food and drinks were impressive, service out of the world, and the location stunning! Highly recommend the tea here as well as a stay!
Be the first to ReplyThe opulent Raffle Hotel with a colonial style finishing is
The opulent Raffle Hotel with a colonial style finishing is one of the original hotels dating back to 1887 that is still standing. Home to The Long Bar, legendary for its iconic drink- - the Singapore Sling, made famous by a Hainanese Chinese bartender. The bar itself was designed in the 1920s inspired by Malaysian plantations. Wicker fans adorns the ceiling with dark woods and comfy seatings scattered throughout making way for a casual atmosphere. Complimentary peanuts are offered and the best seats in the house are at the bar where you can observe the bartenders doing what they do best! For you history buffs- - the drink was originally crafted at a time when it was not socially acceptable for women to consume libation in public thus inspired the inventor to create a drink which cleverly disguises the alcoholic beverage as a fruit juice. And as they say, "The rest is history." While the drink comes with a high price tag and isn't anything fancy or even impressive, it's almost a "rite of passage" when visiting Singapore. It's refreshing with a nice balance of sweet and sour. If you enjoy fruity drinks, this one's for you! This historical site is a must see attraction on your tourist feat. A wait is to be expected but, it's well worth it! A great place to get out of the heat and enjoy the ambiance while sipping on your "Gin & Juice."
