Cozy little speakeasy type bar.
Very nice atmosphere, and a very extensive drink list. Great spot for an after dinner drink if you're in the area.

Nice atmosphere with a great bar.
Be the first to ReplyVery intimate spot, amazing service, excellent selections.
Will definitely go back. I had to wait for a table (very small place) - which I think are first come first serve - but totally worth it.

Tasty gourmet bar bites and drinks, but space is tight and service was not the best when I visited. The doors opened at 5pm on Friday and the place was packed by 5:15. We treated ourselves to the oysters, scallop crudo, pรขtรฉ, and tried a few other small plates. Everything tasted fresh and interesting, but service was a miss that day. We experienced several mishaps, including waiting nearly an hour for one dish and then waiting over an hour for a dish that never came--when we followed up about this one, our server tried hard to convince us that we already received it (we had not). I would prefer to dine upstairs at the Dabney for full service and the roomy, cozy atmosphere.

Came on a Friday night around 5pm and luckily grabbed the last table for 6 people. Pretty dark inside since it's in the basement. Typical service except they forgot one of my dishes. When I asked, the server said we got it and explained what it looked like. Kinda rude about to be honest.LOVED the oysters especially Great Gun. Might be one of the best ones I've had in the city! I got a sparkling wine that was also really good. Got to try some of the biscuits which were also delicious. The pate and scallop crudo were unique and interesting. Also not bad!! Would come back if I feel like treating myself to delicious oysters

..even better service. High end small plates, wonderful wine, and a great atmosphere. What else can you ask for in a neighborhood joint!

All the food and drink here was really good which should be expected given its association. The deviled eggs and crostini made for some nice small bites. It was also cool seeing some German wines on the menu! My girlfriend had a negroni which she enjoyed. The service was also really good and our waitress was super friendly. I just wish they had some additional meats and cheeses on the menu or just a more substantial option. But I suppose they dont want to compete with their restaurant.

This is the perfect little cozy spot for pre-dinner drinks and bites. The bites menu is minimal, but the drinks list is extensive (full bar). As soon as you walk in, you feel the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our waitress was personable and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. I got the negroni cocktail, which was strong. My boyfriend opted for an easy drinking Pinot noir. We snacked on deviled eggs and crostini. I thought the honey drizzled over the crostini and plate might be too sweet, but the people in the kitchen knew what they were doing. The honey balanced out the cheese well, and I actually found myself scooping the remnants off of the plate with my fork. The deviled eggs had a nice crunch to them. I could've eaten ten of those. I'm not sure how crowded this place gets in the evenings, but I'd say play it safe and have a backup bar/lounge in mind if there's no space when you arrive. If you snag a seat, enjoy!

Cleanliness/Service:You almost miss the entrance walking down 8th, it truly is a cellar entrance! The vibe is just right with a few self-seating tables, and a nice sized bar. Nice warm lighting, with brick walls. Our server, Desiree, came over immediately and provided us with water; she also offered wine tastings as we tried to pick a bottle. My friend and I ended up having different tastes tonight. She got the Les Costebelles and I got the Peyrassol. Food:We ordered the violet coves (extremely balanced), and the Chincoteague (extremely Briney, but good). No horseradish though, that killed me. Still good though! The Kentucky ham and cheese plate is amazinggggg! Served with a mustard sweetened with molasses. Great snack to pair with our nice glasses of wine. Could've mistook the ham for prosciutto! Appreciated the staffs knowledge of the menu, and ingredients. Made the experience next level! Pro-tip:Talk to your oyster shucker! Glenn gave us GREAT advice on what oysters matched our palettes. He also gave great tasting notes for our other apps.
