This is a classic coffee shop.
Have been coming here for most of my life. It seems like they've switched things up a bit. This isn't always bad. The Cub sandwich ! A classic! Ham, turkey, bacon lettuce and cheese served on a triple 3(deep) decker of toasted bread and cut into four pieces. The best club sandwich has always been found here. Apparently the new chef prepares the club sandwich like every other sandwich. Non-toasted bread and cut in half between 2 slices of bread. It looked beautiful and fresh but m, it was lacking mayonnaise, and absolutely no taste. Why, why devolve something as classic as a Club? Soup really good. Creamy chicken noodle soup. Glad we only got cups, as it was filling. Rolls were Amazing as usual. it wasn't as clean and tidy as it typically is. You could see food crumbs and paper wrappers underneath many of the empty tables . The service wasn't as professional as I remember, pre-Covid and I know help is difficult to find . They did change the uniforms, so they look like every other restaurant now. I read another review stating that they have a new chef. I think what really blew me away is almost $50 with tip for my daughter and . We actually shared the "Club" sandwich! So 1 standard Sandy, 2 cups soups and 2 ice teas. I'm blown away.. $50.00 bucks and me trying to figure out if it's Dennys or Black Bear that offers a classic Club.
Be the first to ReplyI'd give this a 3.
5. It's good, it is a little over priced, but we like it. My husband got the club sandwhich and it came with fries. The fries were seasoned with an herb which is a nice touch. We were expecting a little more flavor, a little more punch. Considering the location and how nice of a hotel it is and how the prices are a little higher, it should be more unique. The bread should be better for the club sandwhich. The hot cocoa should have some cocoa shavings or cinnamon sprinkled on it, because that's what you'd expect from a place like this. You pay a little more and expect a little more and that's not what happened tonight for what we ordered. You know what I mean? I got the daily special? The chicken pot pie. I ordered a side salad as well. Their ranch dressing is unique but lacking a little bit in flavor. Need more of a tang, but salt and pepper made it better. The chicken pot pie looked super cool. I enjoyed the presentation. I love their mash potatoes, yet I wonder if they are part instant potatoes and part real potatoe? Tasted super good though. On the inside, the chicken pot pie was like your average home made pie. Tasted alright, but I swear they used a bag of frozen veggies and a can of cream of chicken, which who can go wrong that, but still, again, I expected more for the $20 it cost. Lovely venue, has a nice upper class home feel. Very clean. Up to date venue with a classy ambience. Staff is friendly and we like Gustavo, he was polite, and kind. It would have been nice if he showed up a little bit more but we were pleased. We will go again when we come next year. We plan to go back.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service and environment was fantastic.
Kim was kind, responsive, quick, and helped us get out in time for our show. She made the night a great one! She definitely needs a raise and a promotion!

Food is always the highest quality, and the consistency of each dish never disappoints. The breakfast portions are always more than just the usual breakfast size. Coffee is the best in the city and paired with the signature bran muffins, always a winner! Service is always exemplary. The staff from host/hostess to wait staff and bus staff are always professional and helpful. You will be treated as a welcome guest from beginning to end of your dining experience. As one of Salt Lake's oldest hotels the old fashion and contemporary have been blended perfectly in the coffee shop. My favorite part of Little America Coffee Shop is I feel like my grandma will come out of the kitchen any minute to take her place at the table

This is a charming place to have lunch or dinner! The atmosphere makes it feel like it's from a more glamorous age, and the food is delicious, from the open-faced turkey sandwich to the tomato soup to the hot chocolate. It's certainly not the cheapest restaurant around, but the dinner is a fairly good value. I've been with large groups and small and always get wonderful service!

The Coffee Shop is truly a Salt Lake City classic that has remained true to its diner roots while staying current with (some) changing tastes. You can sit at the bar if you are really feeling nostalgic, but I like the booths and tables by the windows the best. We had a group of six and they seated us in a lovely, quiet spot. If you go on a Sunday, please try the cream of chicken soup. It's wonderfully comforting and delicious with chunks of chicken, veggies, and a little pasta. Add a fluffy roll and you'll be so happy you did. The salmon was cooked perfectly and we tried it grilled and blackened. An out-of-towner in our group ordered the full turkey dinner, and it was like Thanksgiving on a Sunday night in the summer. The chicken fried steak is always a favorite, too. Since we all had rolls with our dinner, we didn't have any room for dessert. However, we took some raspberry pie to go, and it was absolutely amazing. This is a true Utah experience, and you will enjoy looking at the vintage photos on the walls, the classic ambience, and the many options. Everyone is friendly and The Coffee Shop is a lovely, welcoming place to enjoy a meal.

I'd been meaning to come now the new executive has had time to make things his own. Not new to the restaurant, but new as executive chef. Plus, it's the only place to get liver and onions you can trust. We ate between 11 and 12 so both the breakfast and dinner menus were available. I had the French dip, and another had the eggs benedict. It was all very good. The eggs were nailed on the eggs benedict. My wife loved the liver. Although, generally our server, who had been around a long time, was very nice, efficient and on top of things. Generally. There was enough times we were ignored, despite seeing her behind the counter not busy, it was somewhat frustrating. Despite that, it was a great meal and experience.

I have been coming to the Coffee Shop at Little America for as long as I can remember. Well over 20 years. It's been a couple of years since I've been back. Things have changed! The food and service have been dulled down to a Denny's level service. The once classy uniforms of the wait staff have been replaced by black pants and a plain blue shirt. I ordered the Turkey because it's usually very moist. It's the only place I will eat Turkey. I have ordered it at least a dozen times in the past. What a dissatisfying meal. No more real mashed potatoes, in fact the instant mashed I got were so runny they were literally dripping through my fork back onto the plate. The Turkey was as dry as a mouth full of sand and bonus, the vegetables that were mixed in a red tomato sauce were just dumped on the plate to mix with my Turkey gravy. I love the taste of marinara and Turkey gravy mixed. Mmmmm. Prices have doubled and for lousy food. Seriously Little America, you're better than that. Step it up!

I was very happy with the quality of food here, both when I ordered take away dinner (BLT) and when I had breakfast at the counter one morning. The blt had tons of crunchy bacon and the fries were decent that came with it (could use more salt). The american breakfast is nice and hearty, with the link sausages being great. The biscuit is a pass- crumbly and not easy to eat with jam or honey. The coffee is a bit overpriced for a "diner" at 5$. Service polite and quick- from ordering breakfast to getting my food, was no more than 10-15 minutes.
Be the first to ReplyA SLC staple.
It's always consistent: good food, good service, fun cafe feel. A bit pricey but that hasn't stopped me from coming back

The prime rib on Saturdays and Sundays is my favorite. Great vibes and great service!

Diner ambiance without worn down/ lackluster feel, this place is a great way to start the weekend off right. Our sever, Tony, was prompt without being pushy and gave an excellent recommendation for the Benedict. My husband has been here before and prepped me that the prices were a little spendy for what you get but I disagree. Not a single person finished their meal and everyone was happy with their selection. The kids loved their waffles decorated with fruit and the Benedict was fabulous. The potatoes were described as pan fried I believe but they were not overly cooked and oily. A breakfast potato that isn't hash browns or home fries is always a fun change up in my book. Enjoy!

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl and it has always been a highlight of any time being in Salt Lake. I was disappointed in my last experience here and was hoping that it was a fluke, but numerous people have told me that the restaurant has changed and not for the better. The food was mediocre, the rolls were not fresh nor warm, and the service was lacking (but still provided with a big smile as usual). I was also frustrated to see the prices were up to three times the last time I came, which was less than a year ago. The server said that the restaurant saw the holiday prices being successful and decided to make the prices be the full time costs. Wow! If the food was as good as before, then that might be acceptable. But, service and quality was going downhill and prices seem to be skyrocketing. I hate to say it, but it will probably be a while before I return.

Thought this might be better than normal hotel dinners with Little Americas history, but this place does not live up to the hotel itself for diner at least. The service was terrible and the food was as bad and bland as any other crappy hotel food. The roll you get at the start of the meal was the one and only highlight that tasted great. Don't be lazy and leave the hotel too many good places to eat in SLC to eat here. Maybe breakfast is better.......

Prices way too high as the quality of food & service have declined very much! Have been a frequent customer for years but probably won't go back!!
Be the first to ReplyIf I could give this restaurant a zero I would.
We were seated for 25 minutes & the waiter never even showed up. After waiting that long we figured they forgot us or didn't know the other staff sat us. Was a lovely environment but awful service. Don't bother going.... They don't want customers if they can't take care of those they seat.

I stayed at Little America so I came downstairs for a quick breakfast and I'm super glad I did. I was greeted immediately and the hostess asked if I wanted to sit at the "bar" and I said yes. It had a very old school diner feeling to it and I really enjoyed that trip down memory lane. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and tended to me right away. I got a water and a vanilla latte while I looked over the menu. I decided on breakfast and she took my order, I can't remember the name of the meal but it had 2 pancakes, eggs, and I went with the bacon. It took maybe 5 minutes before my meal came out and I was shocked when it arrived. There was SO much food! The pancakes were massive and I think I had 6 pieces of bacon with it. My server actually brought me another plate so I could put my pancakes on that and still enjoy my eggs and bacon. There was so much food I couldn't even finish it all, and I can eat a lot of food. Everything was cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed the meal, as well as the service. I HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast and I will for sure be back.

Dined at the Little America Coffee Shop and they had the special Oktoberfest menu. My wife and I each ordered the pork tenderloin and it was delicious. Comes with Homemade apple strudel that didn't disappoint. The nice thing about Little American is that their food is consistently good whether you are at the restaurants of a banquet. Also, the place is clean and the service is excellent.
