Another lovely evening at The Bristol
We've thoroughly enjoyed every seasonal tasting menu thats been offered at The Bristol. The service is top notch, the wine pairings have been well thought out and the food is lovely. Keep up the good work !!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat value in the tasting menu
Great food and even better service. Had the summer tasting menu with wine pairings. Every dish was solid and the pairings worked so well for the most parts. S/o to our main waiter, the guy who lived in Korea for a while. He knew his stuff and explained and answered everything we wanted to know. Great value for the tasting menu.

We had a fantastic dinner at the Bristol last night. Every course of the tasting menu was lovely and the wine pairing was also outstanding.
We used to eat at the Bristol weekly back when it first opened and continued being regulars for several years. However, after the front of house manager Charles left and there were multiple changes of chefs we pretty much stopped going for diner 5 years ago, we were no longer fans of the menu or the service.
That has all changed now, the new chef is great and the front of house staff are all super professional, we will be regulars again!
Highly recommended.
Worthy of Michelin Stars
We were looking for a restaurant with the full package and we found it here at The Bristol. After reading about the team on their website, I was so impressed with the bio of Arnaud Guillemin and the rest of the team here, with such a solid foundation we just knew this would be a winner, and our expectations were exceeded. A quick Uber trip just outside of the city and you will arrive at this stellar establishment. Everything from the moment you are greeted at the door, to professional 5 star service, interesting elixirs, culinary excellence, that is a work of art, with well balanced with flavor and texture, a very eclectic wine list and fabulous Sommelier. We ventured into the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings and are so thrilled we did. If I could give this restaurant 6 stars, I would. A true epicurean delight!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible tasting menu and value at the Bristol
We’re big fans of Chef Larry’s from his old place in Streeterville and have made the trek out to The Bristol a few times. It’s great to see he’s only gotten better.
On last visit we went with the tasting menu. It’s an incredible value at $75. Everything on it was good. Highlights for us were:
- Agnolotti with morels and truffles
- Salmon: cooked so perfectly it practically melted in your mouth
- Short rib: So tender and whatever went in to the “Red Roast” gave it an incredible flavor and nice char on the outside
- Soft Shell Crabs: Not on the tasting menu but we added it. Fried perfectly, not too heavy at all.
- Scallop Ceviche: This was the most surprising dish but in a really good way
- Asparagus Soup: Also something very different but excellent
The Kataifi for dessert was this really interesting take on a typical Greek pastry but without the typical heavy grease and butter of a Greek dessert. Topped with pink peppercorn ice cream. Loved it.
Only dish that wasn’t a standout was the Mustard Salad. Wasn’t bad but everything else was so good it just didn’t stand out.
They have a really nice drink menu. We went with the Paper Cherry Blossom. Really nice subtle drink if you don’t like things too sweet or sour. For wine, the sommelier helped us find a great value bottle of Barolo.
Service was really spot on here too. Friendly, not all over you but always there when you needed something.
Highly recommend the Bristol.
What a let down
After reading the great reviews for the Bristol it's such a shame that this restaurant turned out to be poor experience for us.
2 beers were sent back as they were undrinkable, very unpleasant, to be replaced with 2 glasses of pinot noir, which were stone cold and nowhere close to room temperature.
The menu was underwhelming. 2 of us chose the burger, which was actually very nice, but we were hoping for something a little more inspired than burger n fries.
The staff were lovely and the manager gave us a discount but it didn't make up for a disappointing experience overall.
Very pleasant brunch!
Went here with family for brunch. Very attentive service. Lots of contemporary dishes and some traditional ones with a modern twist. I like the way they refilled water glasses on a regular basis. A great place for lunch with wooden tables and a very contemporary design.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place w/creative menu in Bucktown
We were 3 people for a business dinner in Bucktown and this place came highly recommended. The service and ambiance were fantastic - not stuffy and not too loud or too quiet. Our server was very well informed of the menu and gave us excellent recommendations without being condescending. Everything I look for in an urban eatery.
We followed the recommendations of our waitress and ordered several dishes to share. Everything was very good but the entrees of the waygu skirt and the porchetta were amazing.
Really enjoyed our time here - would gladly return.
What is a snickerdoodle?
There isn't anything that is traditional about The Bristol, which features a snickerdoodle sundae on its menu of North American gastropub cuisine. What is a snickerdoodle? Sometimes referred to as a sugar cookie, a snickerdoodle is a cookie made with butter or eggs or oil, sugar and flour and rolled in cinnamon sugar. So Bristol's snickerdoodle sundae consists of house-made gelato, snickerdoodle, walnuts, vanilla chantilly and chocolate sauce. For my wife and I, it was a delicious topper to a delightful dinner. Located at 2152 North Damen Avenue, at Webster, in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, The Bristol offers a lineup of unique and tasty items. We started with monkey bread with dill butter, cure salmon with miso-mustard and rye and steak tartare with miso egg yolk custard and sesame crackers. For a main course, my wife chose Amish half chicken with mustard and dill spatzle. Adhering to my more fish/less meat diet, I opted for steelhead trout with barbecued zucchini. Then we finished with the snickerdoodle and big smiles on our faces.

We made reservations and arrived a few minutes early to grab a drink. What a great surprise to have an incredible cocktail selection! The food did not compare with the bar, but it was a cozy place.
Be the first to ReplyGood dinner spot
We were a party of seven celebrating a graduation. We were seated on the upper level. Waitress was friendly and helpful with menu. We started with these duck fat fries, monkey bread and onion dip. The double quarter pound hamburger looked good. Wife had the ravioli, came with ricotta cheese.
The only issue was the noise level. Made it a challenge to have a conversation.
