My all time favorite for bak chor mee (minced pork noodles) I've tried many places and while tai Hwa's prices are high, you get your money's worth- so it is fair. $6 sgd for a small, $8 for medium and $10 for large. It is good to the last drop. Many other places will serve this dish with minced pork broth and maybe some meat balls and wonton, here for $8 you get meat balls, pork slices, liver slices, pork dumplings, preserved vegetables and deep fried sole dish. Without the taste of the deep fried sole, it would not be a good minced pork noodles dish. Others will have that taste in the meat balls but at tai hwa you get to see the individual pieces. I ordered the $8 size and that's too much for me. I suggest you order the $6 and add ingredients for an extra $1. It's ole ty if you have the soup version. Besides the noodles, the broth will fill you up. It is so tasty, you will want to slurp the broth up. I've ordered the dry version before and someone told me that to properly gauge the quality of bak chor mee, you need to have mee pok wet. Mee pok is a flat yellow noodles and only a good hawker can cook it right do that it is al dente. Highly recommend this stall but be prepared to wait. If coming for lunch, be here by 1145 for a 15 mins wait. Come by 545pm for dinner. Even at 7pm, there is always a queue.
