The food in Tai Pan is amazing.
The variation of the food that we can choose is also very good. The staff are very polite and very helpful. When we had a problem they helped us straight away. So their service impeccable.

Just stopped by and very pleasantly surprised they serve dim sum (menu, not carts). All of the basics but big variety, can also order from full menu. We ordered a starter from the menu, fried salt and pepper squid, which was quite good. Squid was fresh, not chewy, nice flavor. Among the dim sum, loved the pork buns and rice noodles. Also great Vietnamese spring rolls. Prawn balls had lots of prawn but not too tasty. Only disappointment was mediocre chopped spare ribs in black bean sauce. Nice overall meal.

5 stars, but the food was too good to just give 4 stars. We ate dinner there today (a Sunday) and we got the Vegetarian Banquet for 2 (23 pounds/person). It was a real "feast" and the food was DELICIOUS. Several courses, generous portions and wonderful flavors....we couldn't even finish all of it, so we took the remainder back to our hotel (where we fortunately have a small fridge in the room) and it will make a good breakfast. The restaurant is very large and popular. There were many families and lots of young children. The noise was quite loud, which would normally preclude our desire to eat in that environment - but we hadn't passed any other restaurants and we were glad to find this one. Also; the interior is attractive and spacious, with large windows - and the restrooms were very clean. The service was "a mixed bag", and at times we waited *interminably* (for example, when we'd asked for more water). There were several different servers who attended to our table and we had to continually waylay someone when we needed something (such as water). We overheard one of them mention that they were short-staffed today, and certainly they were all pleasant....anyway; the food was *outstanding*.

One of the regular Chinese restaurants I go to with my parents for Sunday "yum cha". Yum Cha literally translated means drink tea. Its usually means having dim sum. Although we usually have more than just dim sum - ordering a few as well. Whether its a rice dish, noodle dish, maybe some veg too.The quality is always pretty good and the food comes quick. The restaurant has a car park which is handy as well as the large Chinese supermarket on the ground floor.

I love this Chinese restaurant! It is one of the best, if not the best in Liverpool. You can always tell a good Chinese restaurant by the number of Chinese people who eat there and this is a very good restaurant. Staff are efficient but not always friendly. The food is great and you can even order dishes not on the menu. Food is served quickly and is very enjoyable. Below the restaurant is a supermarket, so you can even try to recreate the delicious food yourself!

Very popular amongst the Chinese Community which really says a lot about the quality of this place. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. There is free parking and generally you can get a table during the evening without making any reservations. Sundays however are packed full of Chinese families - for dim sum. It is worth the experience to come on a Sunday because they deliver the food in trolleys. I have deducted a star because we ordered some food on the menu but was that they did not have in stock. I recommend the roast belly pork and duck dish and also the beef chow mein. The environment is also relaxing and there is no rush whatsoever. The service is considerate. This place gets a bonus star because at the end of the meal they provide fresh fruit and heated towels. There is the heritage market down the road on a Sunday and also Costco. It is definitely worth a visit!

Be the first to ReplyTheir food is good even by Chinese standards.
However my main gripe with them is that unlike other good Chinese restaurants that I've been to around the UK, they don't really do much seafood (fish or lobster dishes) which I think they should really, given that they are so often regarded as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Liverpool. I don't often eat there as a result, as seafood is my favourite!
Be the first to ReplyThere is no pretention with a place like Tai pan.
If its busy you can rest assured that the people are there for the food alone. Tai pan is definately popular with the Chinese diners, it seems to be always busy with them which can only be a rubber stamp on the quality of the food. Fresh hot food steams around the restaurant in a trolley which creates a bit of theatre. I wouldn't say the service is overly friendly but they do the job they're supposed to do efficiently enough. The fixed lunch menu of two courses comes at only £5.45 so it is also good value for money. I would highly recommend the cantonese duck which is cooked to perfection. Tai pan is an experience in Chinese dining you must give a try out even if it's for lunch.
