MORE EXPENSIVE THAN LISTED HERE! I spent $80 with tip on food for 1 ordering items under $15. Sure I had 3 drinks but still the bill would have been $50. Most items are over $20. Great food but pricey. Good ambience. More upscale but casual.
Be the first to ReplyTwo words: Down hill.
This restaurant was so great when I first visited a couple years ago; however, the food has really started lacking quality. The vegetables we got with the steak and sea bass were limp and cold. The entrees were bland and oily. They also got rid of the additional shakers for the martinis :(The service is good, but you have several different waiters throughout the night it seems (maybe 3 different ones?) For the price, it is not worth it. For the location..there are better options within walking distance. No bueno.

***Horrible Service***Ok if you are in a restaurant about the size of a Living Room and have many tables and especially a table like ours (Celebrating a Birthday) you should expect the noise level to be very loud!! Why did our server ask us (just us) to keep it down??!! Hello it's loud in the entire restaurant!! I'm sorry but if you want to eat an over priced meal and keep your voice decibel to a -100 level then Tabule it is!! Other than that EAT AND ENJOY A NIGHT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! It seem like this place is allergic to Happy Customers enjoying themselves!!
Be the first to ReplyThe service was excellent, the staff was very attentive.
The chipotle garlic sauce is amazing. We had the duck tacos appetizer - the duck was delicious, but the tacos themselves could have used more fixings (they were just duck meat and tortillas, served with cucumber strips, green onions, and cilantro on the side). The salmon wellington was delicious - cooked perfectly and wonderfully complemented by the 3 cheese wine reduction sauce. The portion size was more then generous - we split the entree between two and both felt full at the end. The music, which another reviewer stated was electronic, is not what you'd expect when you think electronic. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant and intimate. On the pricier side, but you get what you pay for.
Be the first to ReplyI took my family here for my brothers wedding anv dinner.
I loved mannerism of the stuff though they messed up my brothers and his wife's order which was a bummer. It was 7 of us and the tab came for $380. Im not sure its a place to bring your family but you can definitly bring a date to impress her
Be the first to ReplyLook at my reviews and I never give bad ones.
.. If it's REALLY bad, then I always leave it alone cause I'm not a hater.... I previously was a restaurant manager before and I know how it goes, BUT THIS IS ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS!!! REALLY REALLY BAD!!! MAJOR FAIL...So to add to my friend Hoa T. review - I was one of the guests in town San Diego Gaslamp (which I love dearly) from L.A. in a party of 18 and ready to eat and play!If no stars was an option this place would get it cause our party never ate a thing! NADA!!! Instead we drank and waited and were persecuted by other diner's and the manager for having a good time (Being too loud)! I have managed restaurants before and this lady (manager) didn't have a clue in conflict resolution. She just blamed us for loss business and let the restaurant get out of control! MAJOR FAIL!!!!So...... time to put yall on blast!Criss-cross eyed guy from out of town having a family dinner at 930pm in the Gaslamp approaches table and begins to yell at our table for dropping a F-bomb here and there and laughing a bit too loud while having drinks! He insulted my friend sitting next to me, rudely interrupted our time, and was allowed to do this??? What entitled you to approach our table without receiving a knuckle sandwich in return??? I was thinking... "Is this for real management & staff" cause we were like 18 strong, a few pretty ladies and a grip of asian bros. feeling persecuted by this guy that looked like Sloth from The Goonies!!! But I'm not Chunk, got no Baby Ruth, and can't do the truffle shuffle! Cross eyed fella was only seconds from his kids seeing him put down in the street.... but we're all adults here! And we were the better people to get up and leave this NASTY environment! Smart management would have intervened a long time ago and never let the village idiot approach a party who basically could of caused alot of damage if things went even farther!!!Good job losing a 2K+ tab for your waiter who was exceptional and very kind!Nice try attempting to FORCE us to pay a bill for services and food not received...Would of loved to taste the food, but the pizza from my favorite CIRO's hit the spot and we had a great time galavanting anyhow! Nothing can stop our fun, not even your inability to entertain large parties and feed a hungry crowd!I guess there's a first for everything! I used to live in San Diego for 6 years as I served in the U.S. Navy and I never expected to be treated like this upon my return in a very fun, diverse, and accepting community.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE A LARGE GROUP!!!Had a horrible experience here last night. We were entertaining some out of town guests and wanted to take them to a nice seafood dinner. When making our reservations, I advised the hostess we had a large group of 18 and that we were most likely going to be very loud. She told me it wasn't a problem as they have several other large groups dining at the same time and that the atmosphere is lively. We were immediately seated upon arrival and everyone proceeded to order drinks. The drinks came and dinner was ordered. As expected with a large party - we were pretty loud It was mainly the laughing. All of a sudden, a cross-eyed man approaches our table and said he wanted to thank me for teaching his 6 year old daughter the F word. Ohhhh hell noo!!!! First of all, it was 9:30pm in the gaslamp. You don't think your daughter is going to hear a few fucks here and there while walking around?? I told him this was a public establishment and what was he doing bringing a 6 year old here. If y ou want a family friendly environment - stay home. Or go to the fucking old spaghetti factory. A few additional words were exchanged and my brother got out of his seat to talk to this man. When this happened, his wife frantically yelled for him to sit down. I think she was afraid there was going to be a physical confrontation. We decided to leave as we wanted to respect the other customers. Our food had not come out yet and we asked the server to get our check. I double checked the bill and they charged us for the food! I spoke to the manager and she said the food was being prepared and that we had to pay. I told the manager that the situation that just happened shouldn't have happened and that I had advised the hostess about our loud group. She said it was our fault for being so loud and that she had 2 groups that left because of us. I explained that that is EXACTLY why I asked the hostess earlier and that they shouldn't have taken my reservation then. I told her if she didn't remove the food charge, we would not sign the bill and would dispute it. The whole time our server was apologizing. After a while, the food was removed and we paid for our drinks.. which was still over $300!The manager completely mishandled the situation and because of that, lost out about $2000. As for the cross-eyed man, I had several mean things I wanted to say to him. My sister told me I was growing up when I shared this story with her because I didn't hit him where it hurts (which is what I normally would have done). But instead, I had some restraint and walked out without saying anything else. Bottom line is that I will never come back here. Definitely not a good place for groups or anyone who wants to be a little loud and fun.
Be the first to ReplyWe dined as two families (4 adults, 3 children).
Due to traffic in the area, decided to drop off the wives and kids at the restaurant before parking. When I finally arrived, our waitress commented that she already discussed the specials with the rest of the group. She seemed a little upset that two of us weren't there on time, but agreed to go over the highlights with us.Our waitress recommended two dishes: chilean seabass and the raspberry duck. The wives both had the Seabass, I had the duck, and my friend had the ceviche (also chilean seabass). Although they don't have a childrens menu, they said they would make pasta dishes for my daughters (one linguini with butter sauce and another with clams). My friends' kid ordered soup initially. Most of the entries were pretty good. Sea bass ceviche was excellent. The seabass dishes were also pretty good. My duck, however, was not what I expected. There weren't any raspberries there. Instead there was this strawberry jam all over the duck with bits of strawberries. This made it very sweet and gooey which I really didn't like. I commented to the waitress just to let her know that there was a mistake since the menu definitely said "raspberry" duck. She got defensive right away and said well, it's a combination of raspberry and strawberry. Whatever... I didn't taste any raspberries. To be honest, I'm not sure if it would have mattered much. I was mostly upset by her attitude and the false advertisement. Also, the soup that one of the kids ordered was much too salty, so she had to order a plate of pasta instead. The waitress the asked the kids what they wanted for dessert. She didn't bother checking with us parents first. So, of course, each of the kids ordered something. Desserts were ok, nothing spectacular. Then the bill came. It was quite a bit more than what we expected. $440 for two families (we had one bottle of wine for $55 which was probably the least expensive bottle on the wine list). The simple kids dishes, butter pasta, we're billed at $24 per plate. Even though these were simplified versions of adult entrees, they still charged the regular menu price. This was not communicated to us at order time. We argued this point with the restuarant for some time. They said they would adjust the bill, but in the end didn't budge. Also, 20% tip was added since we had a group of 7 (isn't it customary to add 18%?). The tip itself came out to $70. This just seemed like the type of place where they try to gouge you. Sorry, but this was not a 4/5 star dining experience.I wanted to give 1 star due to the frustrated feeling I had leaving the restaurant, but gave it 2 just because the seabass dishes were pretty good. Then again, how can you mess up chilean seabass? I'm definitely not coming back again.

My friend and I were out in the Gaslamp one day and decided to check out this place.Bad choice.Even though it was a Monday afternoon, we were the only people in the place, which should've been the first hint to us that something was wrong. We were first greeted by our obnoxiously attentive waiter as soon as we sat down, which at first I wasn't bothered by.Every time I glanced over, he thought that we were asking for him to come over and take our order; we weren't and after the third time this happened we realized that this was probably a bad decision. We had fifty dollars to spend, so we decided to split a salad, split a pasta, and split a shrimp ceviche. The strawberry salad came out first. Even though it was split in two, the portions were RIDICULOUSLY small. There were conspicuous balled white things in the salad; I decided to try one, and to my dismay it was a balled piece of mozzarella, as if he used a melon baller on a cheese stick.Salad: 4/10.Next was the ceviche. My friend and I were both confused by the appearance of the ceviche; instead of cubes of shrimp, onion, tomato, etc., there were long stringy pieces of onion and some suspicious green vegetable, along with huge strips of shrimp. This makes it really difficult to eat off of the tostadas provided to us. It didn't taste citrusy enough, either.Ceviche: 6/10I honestly have no complaints about the pasta. It was well cooked, The alfredo sauce was impressive. Pasta: 8/10.For real though, the service here is unbelievably irritating. Every time I made a request or ordered something, it was "BEAUTIFUL." "Can I get the...." "BEAUTIFUL"Also, tip conversions on the receipt? Totally uncool. Also, the waiter screaming "THIS IS FIFTY DOLLARS, RIGHT?!" across the restaurant is totally unprofessional. My friend ended up tipping $10 dollars, which I think is about $9 more than deserved.Won't be returning.
Be the first to ReplyGood food.
Nice wine list. Steaks are a little pricey. Mushroom & asparagus starter was really good.
