The finest dining
This is a simple review for me. My wife and I have traveled a fair amount and we truly enjoy good food. I can say without hesitation that I have never had a better meal in my 70 years. Fixed price at an incredibly reasonable rate. No menu. Let the food rain down. Simply amazing start to finish. Thank you Taberna Tipica Quarta-feira.

My husband and I travel extensively and we both agreed our meal rates as one of the top three meals we've ever had! Loved the concept of not knowing what is going to be served but trusting that every dish will be delicious and the chef did not disappoint. In addition to the food, the wine pairings was spot on (generous pours!) and service was exceptional. The restaurant is small with about 10 tables and staff is comprised on the chef and I assume the sous chef. Needless to say, they were extremely busy. However, the chef still took the time to chat with us at various intervals. One rarely gets that level of attention anymore. If you want to dine there, make sure to make a reservation.

We ate here on a recommendation from our hotel and it was fantastic. Every course was explained to us and it was delicious. All local produce and the chef was amazing. We have eaten at many restaurants including fine dining in Lisbon but have to say this beats them all. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble and we were amazed at how tasty every course (and there a lot) was superb. I Will definitely be going back. They have a map on the wall showing where in the world people come from who have eaten there each year and it already has lots of pins in, I was lucky to be the first Welsh person this year to visit so got to stick a pin in Wales.

Drove from Portimao to enjoy lunch with Joao, Manuel and the team. Great food, great wine. Appetizers were delicious and mains original and tasty

I heard about this restaurant from a gentleman in Tavira. He said if you are an adventurous eater, this place is for you. He told me there is no menu - they just keep bringing you Tapa size dishes, all Portuguese and all locally sourced. I reserved early (about two weeks prior to going) and am glad I did. When we were enjoying our meal there, we saw people being turned away. Their loss, for sure! All in all, we think we were served about 25 dishes which included appetizers, mains, and desserts interspersed with palate cleansers. Two of the dishes were mystery things - we only found out what they were after eating them. Four of us attended and we all found this to be the highlight of our time in Evora. The owner and serving staff were all attentive but not obtrusive. The wine selection was not broad but the one we tried was quite good. Don't miss this place. My only advice would be - don't think you have to clean the plate of each selection or you will fill up before dessert!

Had a great dinner near back in 2022 so came back for another go…. glad we did 😁 No menu, just a fantastic host who brings you an array of wonderful food. Highly Recommended - booking essential
Be the first to ReplyAn extraordinary experience - recommended.
An extraordinary and charming family run restaurant with a strong heritage. Its a mixture of a modern tasting menu with traditional and peasant dishes to surprise you. There is no menu, but put yourself in their hands and they will provide a fantastic array of starters, main and desserts. They will even suggest the wine for you which is only available at this restaurant (a little pricey, but good). It really is a very special experience and you won't leave feeling hungry!

The hotel recommended this restaurant which is often booked to capacity. It is a family-owned business, and the food was outstanding. The food presentation was a richly rewarding experience. We knew we were in for an amazing experience when we were greeted by the owner and his son. I highly recommend going here if you have the time. They do a single seating each night and you will enjoy every minute.
Be the first to ReplyTaberna Tipica Quarta - Feira, A Must Try while in Evora
I have read several reviews regarding this restaurant - all good, even started by Lonely Planet, so we just had to try it out. We were unlucky the first try because it was full but we reserved for another day. It was an amazing experience. Jaõa explained that they have a set menu for the meal and we said YES - we are game for that. From the appetizers: mushrooms, shrimp with Panko, cheese pie and gizzard to the soup: Pumpkin Soup, to the mains: Sliders (you have to visit to find out what it is), Ox Tail and pork Neck and it ends with an amazing array of desserts: lime Sorbet as a palate cleanser, Cheese flan, Poached Quince and Sopa Douro- Golden Soup. Great Meal! Thank you Jaõa for an amazing experience and Miguel for the wonderful service. And…. Lonely Planet and all the other reviews - you were all correct. A must try while in Evora

What a find. We were recommended this establishment by a friend who said it was a must visit and it did not disappoint. From my first contact with Joao to our final departure everything was a joy. There is no menu, you arrive promptly at the start of service and are taken on a gastronomic tour in the hands of the excellent kitchen and waiting staff, with Joao always on hand to describe the dishes and help with wine choices. It was a truly unique experience, which in the UK would cost a small fortune but in Evora it was fantastic value for money. Keep up the great work.

We were not able to get into this restaurant for dinner so opted for a late lunch instead and it did not disappoint. Our amazing chef plied us with every kind of dish--meat, pork, lots of interesting sides, all typical Portuguese and delicious. This was an unforgettable experience, from tasting so many different dishes to the quaint and cozy setting and the warm, wonderful people who made it an amazing day. We skipped dinner! Thank you!

What a delightful dinner! Don't worry that there is no menu to select from. Just sit back and let the team bring plates and plates of food to your table. Everything is delicious...even if they won't tell you what it is before you take a bite! Count on an assortment of Alentejo specialties.
And, the owner and team are extremely hospitable and....hilarious!
Be sure to stop in when you visit Évora.
Worth a detour, great gastronomic experience
One single menu that changes every night. If you want to order a la carte this is not the place, but if you love good food, friendly service, a family atmosphere and a fantastic Alentejo gastronomic experience, this is the place ! Definitely worth a detour, the best meal we have had in a long time. We went through lots of tasty tapas type dishes, then got into two main courses and consisted with a delicious dessert, washed down with a bottle of Ponte red from Mouchão. The bill came to 50 euro per head, very good value.
Be sure to book, it’s small and always full 😊
