I try not to be nitpicky, but if your restaurant has a Michelin star and/or you charge a premium price on your product, then you should be judged to a higher standard. After researching Stockholm, Sushi Sho was one of the restaurants I was looking forward to most, and made reservations as soon as possible (over a month or two in advance). I arrived about 15 minutes before it opened. Staff was friendly and offered me drinks beforehand. Eventually I was seated. This was my first and one of my biggest gripes. They have seating at the bar and a very small 4 person table in the corner. I was seated at the bar in front of the table. Sushi Sho is EXTREMELY cramped. Chairs at the bar have almost no space between each other. It's a chore just to take your seat. I spent the whole night (about 1 1/2 hours) tense, having to keep my elbows tucked in to avoid bumping into my neighbors. Even then it didn't matter, I would constantly brush elbows with both my neighbors. Also anytime I slouched just a little bit with the server behind me I'd bump into them. The food quality itself was excellent. I especially loved their egg yolk, tuna, toasted rice dish. It was truly one of the most unique dishes I've ever had. Perfect balance of texture and flavors. Unfortunately portions of everything else were very small, especially for the first half. For example, the abalone was essentially two small quarter-sized pieces. The proportions of rice to fish were also off, with way more rice to fish. Also noticed that rice was brought out in small batches. I don't know how much they cook at a time, but I noticed that my rice was perfect in some parts but mushy in others. The nigiri dishes they offered were pretty basic and nothing special. Another probably pet peeve issue I had was their seemingly preferential treatment to the big spenders next to me. They ordered pretty much every extra possible. And the head chef gave them each a huge spoonful of caviar, and commented how they don't normally do this. Awesome. Wish I could've had a taste too. I guess I should've spent more??? I think Sushi Sho has a lot of potential. They have some truly unique dishes, like the egg yolk or razor clam/onion dish, etc.. I think if they tried to expand on that and fixed their other issues (seating, rice proportion, etc.), this place would be incredible. As of now I can't recommend Sushi Sho, and don't understand how it earned a Michelin star.
