🤮 1/5 - I went to Nakazawa last night and ordered the premiere

I went to Nakazawa last night and ordered the premiere Omakase, with the additional caviar and Uni flight. I originally sat in the dinning room but when the first three dishes were a severe disappointment (because the rice was cold and dry) the server asked me if I wanted to move to the sushi bar. Bad rice can ruin the entire dish. I did take her up on the offer just to be told that they would have to up charge me at the Sushi bar (after I had already moved to the bar). I went with it just hoping that the remaining dishes would be better. The dishes were only slightly better and the rice was still cold and dry. I have been to high-end sushi places in NY, SF, LA, Tokyo, etc. It blows my mind when a restaurant of this caliber can't make sushi rice properly. It needs to be fresh, at room temperature (or slightly warm) and soft. This was cold, dry and undercooked. Even some of the fish was cold as if they just pulled it out of the refrigerator. The couple of items that were torched were decent and I had to order more sake just to try and enjoy the meal. The lack of flavor and creativity was also a disappointment. Needless to say, I still tipped 25% because the server was nice to move me to the sushi bar (yet still up-charged me - LOL). That should tell you something about this place. My recommendation would be to avoid Nakazawa.-DC and save your money for the NY location.
