Terrible service
We reserved a table based on a New York Times review praising this place but left hours later, still hangry. The staff took phone orders and sushi chefs chatted with each other behind the bar instead of making our omakase order. We had 3 pieces of fish in 2 hours. When they finally remembered to serve the rest, it came in one slab, without explanation, and it was only "OK". No apologies for their terrible service. Don't bother going - there are so many better places where you can spend the same money for better sushi - and where they respect their customers.
Be the first to ReplyAn intimate sushi restaurant that does it the right way
The sushi chefs are clearly skilled in their art and the quality of fish and the presentations are very good. The kitchen prepared food is also very good, particularly the house smoked salmon collar which is delicious. I canโt say its cheap, but I donโt mind paying for good quality food and service, both of which the restaurant delivers in abundance.
Be the first to Replylovely helpful staff, good fish, low key traditional Japanese decor
We ate great hot dishes - miso cod, halbut tempura with shiso leaf, eggplant, soft shell crab. All of it was good. Service was friendly, efficient. The room is traditional Japanese simple, casual, pleasant.
Parking is easy - inside the lot of the mall. They validate.
The staff are so nice they went to great length to explain parking to me over the phone, and when I left a very expensive leather jacket in the restaurant, they cam running all the way down into the parking garage to return it. Really impressed with their staff.
Que rico, Kiriko!!!
In Spanish "que rico" means "delicious" and Kiriko is a wonderful Sushi restaurant in West L.A. Small, cozy, friendly and clean, Kiriko offers a wide assortment of sushi and sashimi plates, as well as teriyaki and other cooked dishes. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the location. I strongly recommend Kiriko.
Be the first to ReplyHands down best sushi experience I've ever had
We chose to visit Kiriko on a getaway to LA. We didn't know much about it, except that it was ranked. The place is modeat and small. You wont find flashy anything here, just damn good food! We were feeling adventurous so we chose to do the "omakase" experience where the chef chooses the meals for you. We were not disappointed. Not only is the fish exquisite, but the array of variety and care put into each dish is a rare find. We have dined in Japan many times, and didn't think we could find something as good in the States. Definitely worth for a night out if you find yourself in LA!
Be the first to ReplyFairly good
This is a pretty good restaurant with a fairly large selection. It's a strange location in somewhat of a strip mall. The food is surprisingly good! I recommend the eel / avocado roll.
Be the first to ReplyManaged to impress the locals
I suggested this place to a group of 3 local friends while visiting LA. They were impressed. They asked me where I find these places. That's quite a compliment considering I'm from out of town. I was impressed too. It was my first time here but won't be the last. Kinda surprised that so many reviews are mediocre, because the food was creative and delicious, and it really wasn't that expensive. Maybe this is blasphemy, but I liked it even better than Shunji.
Be the first to Replyfresh sushi and sashimi that goes well beyond tuna and salmon
Fresh and diverse sushi and sashimi in a low key, yet nice environment.
The chef pays attention to detail. Great assortment of fish and very well prepared rice.
Given the quality, we were expecting a high bill but it was very reasonable.
