Terrible Customer Service from Sur La Table
If you’re going to be placing an order on the Sur La Table website, DON’T! My experience was dismal. I ordered an expensive espresso machine and it appeared that the order went through without a problem, I paid extra for same/next day delivery. I never received an e-mail confirmation so later in the day I checked the status and it was cancelled!! I called their customer service and they did nothing except to ask me to place the order again. This was a ridiculous notion because the charge had already gone through and all my personal information placed on the website was correct. I asked to speak to a Manager so they could reinstate the order to have it delivered. The order was verified as correct and the Manager offered no other solution but to reorder because the cancellation was due to a website glitch. This was unacceptable!. I know first hand that any company with up-to-date technology should be able to reinstate an order. I told him that I was unwilling to place another order on a website with no guarantee that it wouldn’t happen again while still having the original charge pending in my bank. I had to call my bank to make sure that the pending charge would be disputed if it doesn’t drop after 3-5 days. I also called the local store Manager who verified that I was within the allowed radius for same day delivery and this should have presented no problem but did nothing else except to say I’m sorry 10 times. Neither customer service nor the store Manager extended a courtesy of any kind. This is an example of a company not doing anything to regain a customer’s trust. The only thing I know for sure is that I will never shop there again.

my daughter bought this for her and her boyfriend's 1 year anniversary, because they are underage, I went along. They both love to cook and do so often at home. They were both very excited to learn some new skills and recipes. The class is billed as 2-2.5 hours long. Unfortunately, 90% of the prep and cooking was done prior or by the instructor. the sauce for the pad Thai and desert were 100% done by the instructor while we were out of the room during a 10 min break. our class was about an hour and 20 min including the 10 min break. The instructor promised to send the recipes via email which we never received. This was $300 flushed down the toilet!!! Needless to say, we were greatly disappointed.

The class is an instruction class not cooking class. They only provide setup for one person to prepare and the others may or may not take a turn. I signed up for a baking class. Arrived and the first item being prepared was mostly prepared before we arrived. The second item was prepared in class, but again only one person does the work. The main item a hand pie was made and they took it out of the oven and it was not completely cooked.. The class was suppose to be 2 1/2 hours and it was 1 1/2 hours. The first item was suppose to be frozen but since the class was rushed through it was not frozen and just yogurt and fruit.. I asked about the other classes and was told they were the same..so these should be listed as "instruction classes" not cooking classes. I emailed the company and complained and they never got back with me.

Great sales and quality merchandise throughout. Sur La Table offers cooking classes as well. This is dining heaven. Never pass an opportunity to browse sur la table. Never leave without a purchase. Find items you wanted and forgot you needed. It's that kind of place. Exciting! Staff is knowledgeable and eager to help.

My wife purchased us a cooking class for my birthday that we were very excited about. We live in Ft. Lauderdale and should take about 20 min to get to the Boca location but we left 35 min before just to be sure to get there in time. While on the way there was a crash on I95 that closed all the northbound lanes of travel which left us stuck on I95 at a standstill for over an hour. Approximately 20 min before the class was about to start we called Sur La Table and informed them of our status and the fact that we would not be able to make the class due to the accident and the fact that I95 was a parking lot. The first employee my wife spoke to immediately stated that they do offer refunds under any circumstance within 48 hours. My wife did not even ask for or mention a refund at that point so it was off putting. My wife then requested to speak with a manager to discus the issue. The manager who answered rudely stated, as the employee did, that they do not offer refunds. My wife again has yet to even ask for a refund (we really just wanted to reschedule for another class) so this again was off putting. When my wife stated that we just wished to reschedule the manager said that they would not reschedule but they now could offer a 50% refund which is outrageous because we had zero control over the circumstance we were in. When my wife said that 50% was not acceptable the manager said that “that was their policy” and it was “the best she could do” but for some reason gave the National customer service number for Sur La Table. Obviously confused by what was going on we called the customer service number and spoke with a very nice employee. After we told her about our situation she immediately offered a 100% refund and apologized. Unfortunately the very helpful employee who actually knows customer service will not be saving my family or I from ever doing business at any Sur La Tables again in my lifetime. I will also express my opinions to anyone in my social group and colleagues. In a day and age when customer service should be excellent, it does not make sense to try and scam a first time client out of money. I just wish I had more hands to give this more than two thumbs down.

Received this as a gift and will definitely take another class. Nicole, our instructor and the 4 teaching assistants were outstanding and very personable. It was a hands on class in groups of 4 people so as long as you are with others that are willing to share the experience (we were fortunate) it is a great date night out. Bring a bottle of wine to enjoy - they have glasses available. Great night!

We went for a business get together. When we got there, they were still setting up the place, we didn’t mind waiting but, it was unexpected. We set up the drinks and got our places, about 5 or 6 people per table, put on the red aprons and the chef welcomed our group and read the menu. We prepared dessert first, which was easy and delicious!!! Then pasta, homemade pasta, it was fun but, it took very long time to get it ready... and we started the sauce but didn’t finish it, it was getting late and were starving, so, the chef asked us to leave for 15 min break... when we came back, dinner was all done and ready to be served. We eat rather late and I did not like to eat standing up, and with pasta, some bread would’ve been a great idea. Even though we got the recipes, I would liked to make the sausage/tomato and the pesto sauces instead of messing with the pasta which after all it was way under cooked. Still lots of fun... book it early enough so you get to eat at a reasonable time. I may do it again some other time.

Our instructor was Nicole. She was knowledgeable, I’ll give her that but as far as being cut out to teach, not her thing. She’s impatient and down right rude. At $85 a head, I expected to have my one and only question answered without a nasty snap back non-answer. I asked what signs we should look for with the caramel we were cooking. Color change, time, etc..? Her answer, (in a stern impatient aggravated tone) “I will get to that later” - she embarrassed me in front of the entire class. Even the student next to me noticed her rudeness. I never did get an answer to my question so. I guess I didn’t learn how to make caramel. The food was great. The kitchen was smoky with nobody addressing it so, the rest of the staff was lacking as well but not as bad as obvious as Nicole. Probably wouldn’t do this again. Surely not with Nicole.

This store has everything a cook would ever want, plus nice knowledgeable and helpful staff. They also offer cooking classes that are fun and educational. I just took the Pizza on the Grill Class with my wife yesterday morning and we had a blast!

Today I attended a cooking class at this location. My Parisian Kitchen the instructor was Nicole M. I was lead to believe that it was going to be an individual instruction class hands on. WRONG There were about 9 students in the class. The students nearest the instructor received all the attention and questions asked. Because we worked in groups of three, the women with me shared the same opinion as I did. Waste of time and money!! $75.00 for apparently 2 hours, but out of that time they take a break of about 30 minutes, so we can shop in their store. Give us a 10%coupon.Everything is so expensive!! Save your money try utube. That will be individual attention!! FREE
