Delicious Food
The restaurant looks attractive. It's a new style of Chinese restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. They have many delicious dishes. If you love spicy food, you will enjoy this restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyOne of the best.....
I live very close to Chinatown in downtown Boston. This is better than all of them hands down. Most the menus in Chinatown cater their menu to Cantonese diners. Sumiao caters to a different demographic of Chinese. Most of her clients are drawn from the close by universities and the dense biopharma companies In Kendall Square.. Her menu items are very unique, Hunan style cooking. None of the items I had tonight would be found in any of the Chinatown restaurants. There were five of us. I was the only Caucasian. We'll be back and soon,

Hands down one of the best sit at the bar and have a great meal/cocktails experience in Cambridge. Excellent service. Excellent food. Ask for Johnny. He will provide the best recommendations if you’re a little unsure. Went two nights in a row and we were blown away.

The “sizzling beef with chili and onion” was excellent as were the scallion cakes. We got everything “regular hot” (as opposed to “authenticity hot”) but we didn’t really think it was all that spicy. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat us at the bar.

After we complemented our waiter Laura on the excellent food, we had a chance to meet with the founder, Ms Chen Su Miao, She shared her extraordinary story, migrating from Changsha in Hunan province, to pursue a highly successful career. She created this restaurant to provide a link to authentic Hunan food for a Boston community with roots in Changsha. Authentic is the key word: if you ask for your dishes prepared this way, you’ll enjoy rich taste and lots of spice. Our favourites: the spicy calamari starter and the lava fish. Rare to find such good and original Chinese food. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
We used Uber Eats to order food. The House Crispy duck was rubbery and cut into unappetizing chunks. It was totally inedible. The pork buns were bland and tasteless. Although we ordered black rice (which was on the order), we received brown rice. When we contact the restaurant, we were informed that sometimes this happens with crispy duck but we have had it from other restaurants and the duck skin remained crispy even the next day. Very disappointing meal.

I would not call this a Classic Chinese restaurant but I would happily visit again. And did. On our very next trip to Boston. This time the food was even better. There are some very inventive dishes on the menu which seems to change regularly. We had sautéed peppers in a delectable tangy black bean sauce. Tastiest pepper dish I've ever had. And the peppers were a bit spicy to boot. The mini shiu mai was very good as were the hot dry noodles. Very flavourful and obviously prepared with care not mass produced. The mains were a dry fried crispy fish fillets and sizzling beef with chilli and onion. The fish was very fresh, very light and well spiced needing nothing besides the diced relish it came with. The beef was similarly tasty if somewhat chewy. Quantities were huge and we could have easily done with a main less and still have been satiated. We will be back every trip.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food and extremely overpriced
I see a lot of new Hunan restaurant openings in Boston area these years. As a native Chinese, I would not consider the food at this place authentic at all. In fact, the food would rank bottom among all other Hunan cuisines in the area. During my visit, I ordered a few signature Hunan dishes, but all of them were mere disappointment. Dishes that are supposed to be spicy were mild, and fresh aromatic dishes were bland. I would give 3 stars with the food, since it is better than most American-Chinese restaurants. However, the price just killed this place and moved itself to my permanent blacklist. Everything is so expensive! Price almost tripled some other places. If you love authentic Hunan cuisine, avoid this and save yourself some money.

The good: Wait staff was very friendly. Average: Food. It was ok... nothing special. Bad: Very expensive. And the drinks weren’t great.
