Coworker and I tried this place because we were craving sushi and this place has great reviews. And oh my, we were not disappointed! We got there earliesh, it was packed and we snagged 2 chairs at the bar. Which is prob the best spot to be in if you're hungry. The service was EXCELLENT. For a jam packed place with people literally waiting for an hour in line, it was refreshing and surprising to see smiling, happy waitstaff they seemed even friendlier to each other. The food tho...perfect. We had one of their unbelievably affordable omakase sets (hence the hour wait!). Every piece was thoughtful and melted in your mouth. I can't say enough good things about this experience.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely a must try .
Once u had their sushi you'll be looking for it and will not try other places. Been to many sushi places but this one raves from the food, to service and ambience Planning to visit NYC soon just to get back here
Be the first to ReplySushi chefs desperately need to be retrained.
Sushi rice kept crumbling apart. Should they know what a nigiri sushi should be liked?
Be the first to ReplyDelicious omakase loved it.
Loved the toro rolls and supplemental add ins. Will return
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite sushi spots in the city.
Always fresh and beyond flavorful. Our server tonight, Kat, was wonderful and we really appreciated Kat's beautiful spirit and personality. The food is delicious and the service is just a treat on top.

BEST MANAGER EVER! I don't know her nor does she know me but she was so helpful today. This location recently opened and their customer service is excellent. I have been here a few times and their fish quality is fantastic too. Consistent with the flatiron location! The wait/line moves pretty quickly as well
Be the first to ReplyMy new favorite restaurant for sushi takeout.
Among the best, most fresh sushi I've had, beautifully packaged and presented like a gift. I Googled best sushi for delivery, and SUGARFISH appeared. They have a simple menu with a La carte and a few combination options that were perfect for me, since I tend to over-order too much sushi to get a combination of items.I ordered the "To Go Trust Me," which includes Edamame, Tuna Sashimi, Albacore Sushi (2-Pc), Salmon Sushi (2-Pc), Japanese Yellowtail* Sushi (2-Pc), New Zealand Sea Bream* Sushi (1-Pc) , Sea Bass Sushi (1-Pc) , Toro Hand Roll, Blue and Dungeness Crab Hand Roll. Everything was mouthwatering delicious and fresh. The sushi was delivered quickly via Postmates/ Uber Eats, in a nicely presented bag. Inside the bag was an equally nicely presented box with the SUGARFISH logo on it, which opened to a beautifully presented, compartmentalized box of sushi. On the inside of the box cover is a guide of various sushi and what sauces and condiments to pair with each, all which are provided labeled in the box, along with chopsticks and a sealed wet napkin. Loved all of this this! Sugarfish made takeout feel like an experience. I will absolutely order takeout sushi from SUGARFISH again.
Be the first to ReplyReservations are recommended since the restaurant isn't
Reservations are recommended since the restaurant isn't super big. Tables are close together, even the center booths. There is a bar counter area that has limited seating as well. Tip is included in the bill - so that was awesome.Popped in and waited for about 30 minutes for a table to grab lunch towards what I thought was the end of the lunch rush. They have some set menus that give you some edamame before nigiri and handrolls. Over all the sushi is solid but not amazing. They do have some limited menu items for some more interesting pieces of nigiri or sashimi. We wanted to order some ikura but they only had enough for half a serving so they were kind enough to discount for that. Service was fast and once we were seated we got fed and out.

Previously had only been to the Flatiron location and this location was a consistent, excellent experience. The sushi was impeccable and executed perfectly. I enjoyed the efficiency of the wait staff that was attentive but not interruptive. Tip is baked into your bill already FYI. Great service. Awesome sushi. Would go back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place was awesome.
My friends and I are still talking about it. The food was amazing and service was top notch. Them allowing us to bring our own bottles put it over the top ($25 corkage fee per bottle is fair).

I had a great experience and brought a group to show them a good time in New York. Our server was inattentive and rude. We got our third course before our drinks and she never came back. Our corporate team is here for two weeks and was looking forward to hosting clients each night but I was so embarrassed tonight I can never return. am so disappointed.

TOP NOTCH sushi spot for whenever i want bomb sushi and an experience. i feel really special whenever i dine here. i snag a spot at their counter by myself. i rarely dine alone, but for SUGARFISH? anything for you! if it isn't the amazing service, it's the quality of foods. i feel boujie and high class like Jack Harlow taking me out for date night. i recommend any SUGARFISH location and happy to have one in NYC for ME.
Be the first to ReplyI got the don't think just eat meal.
A part of me wishes the meals were more individualized or there was something in it that is special that day. The tuna sashimi first course was nothing spectacular but my other sushi pieces were delicious and fresh!
Be the first to ReplyCame out to have a guys dinner.
..since one was running late, those present decided to start the night with something light, so we can eat more when the other person shows up. It was suggested that Sugarfish was across the street and according to fellow reviewers, the food is good and priced right. Across the street we go and into the establishment. We were seated and shortly after, introduced to the menu. The menu provided many options for the eyes, especially a starving one. After being introduced the options for the night, we unanimously chose the Nozawa Trust Me ($55.00), which included: Edamame; Tuna Sashimi - ponzu and chives; Albacore Sushi - ponzu and chives, 2-pc; Salmon Sushi - toasted sesame, 2-pc; New Zealand Sea Bream* Sushi - citrus salt, 2-pc;Toro Hand Roll; Japanese Yellowtail* Sushi - lemon, 2-pc; Sea Bass Sushi - yuzu ponzu, 2-pc; "Daily Special"-Otoro, 2-pc; and finishing the experience with a Blue & Dungeness Crab Hand Roll. Each piece was explained thoroughly when served. The service was superb and the food was amazing. For $55.00 tax included...this meal is well worth the try.

This is my go to spot for a casual hangout with friends or a date with my partner. Service here is exceptional and attentive, and I love that the quality of the sushi and portion sizes are well worth the price. The fish is fresh! I highly recommend going for lunch, as they have lunch special combos for any size of appetite and the prices are great. My server told me that although they serve the exact same combos for dinner, they are around $6-10 more. Keep in mind that they don't take reservations and that there is a no tipping policy. I have never really had trouble getting a spot right away, albeit I did come once on a Monday night for dinner with a friend and had to wait around 30-40 minutes for a table. Nonetheless, they have a nice patio outside where people can sit and wait, so my friend and I just sat outside talking while waiting for our names to be called. My partner and I once got the Nigori Unfiltered Sake, and I was surprised that it actually tasted pretty good (smooth and a bit sweet, as most nigorizakes are). Definitely give it a try!
Be the first to ReplyThis is an intimate setting.
It's dark inside and classy decor. It looks like a scene of a movie where it's a blend of a lounge and a room of someone's home. I have to say that I had a pleasant experience. The restaurant caters to those who are working in-person and the waitstaff does not waste any time. They are providing you sushi at a premium, and it is truly tantalizingly good.I find the fish fresh and melts all the way down. I had ordered the Trust Me, since it was my first time, and it was very good. I was just wondering how they keep track of everyone's individual plates of sushi...there must be an internal signal protocol that I'm unaware of. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and I would return especially now that I know I can get a meal on my birthday for free. Wow!It's great, but the capacity fills up quickly so I recommend you arrive early. The lunch rush is real!
Be the first to ReplyMy coworkers and I waited about an hour for to be seated
My coworkers and I waited about an hour for to be seated and it was so worth it. We all got the "Don't Think. Just Eat." option, which is a lot more filling than you would think! My only critique is that the tuna was a little too fishy for me, but tuna was never my thing to begin with. My favorite were the Toro sushi and Pink Lobster because I loved the soft and rich mouthfeel. There's a good reason why this place was packed from the moment we stepped in and the moment we left - I would definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyAre you kidding me? I had dinner here tonight with a friend.
We both ordered the trust me, and the server would take the plates away the second we finished the course. At one point she asked if I was finished and I still had rice in my mouth:( There was no line, and at least 6 empty tables in the place. The sushi was okay but I won't be back. I want to be able to enjoy my meal without being rushed out the door.

My first time at Sugarfish! I really wanted to like it but I think there's things to work on.First, the good:-Fish was fresh and delicious-The omakase set (Trust Me) was nicely portioned with a nice roster of fish and is a fantastic value.-The pace of the omakase was goodPoints to improve:-The rice is way too warm and crumbly- the nigiri fell apart and was difficult to eat. -I felt that there was too much ponzu on the nigiri- all you could tasted was the ponzu and not the fish-There was a scale in one of my nigiri (!) I raised it to the service staff and they addressed the issue by serving me a new nigiri but still, not a fun discovery.
Be the first to ReplyThe midtown east branch of SugarFish is the most recent
The midtown east branch of SugarFish is the most recent addition to their chain . The food is as good as those in flatiron and midtown west with the perks that you don't have to wait that long for your seat to become available . Like any other SugarFish my to go is Don't think - just eat - trust me combination: sashimi nigiri and role - this is as good as it can get
Be the first to ReplyThe place is packed but the food is good.
I am just not convince by using warm rice for sushis but it seems that is their signature.
