Trust me, order the Trust Me menu! Everything was delicious and the vibes inside the restaurant were so moody and cool. The food came out quickly with one course after the other, our favorites were the Tuna sashimi and the crab hand roll. The service was quick, there was a bit of a wait when we got there but it went quickly and we were seated in no time. I would highly recommend, it was delicious and fun!
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience.
Quick and efficient service, delicious and very fresh fish & pleasant surprise of a restaurant that pays their staff a living wage

Huge fan of Sugarfish- consistently delicious and fresh offerings, fast service and cool, casual vibes! Always busy, so be prepared to wait, but well worth the wait! I don't make a trip to the South Bay without stopping in for lunch! My go to is the Nozawa Trust Me...trust me and try it---it does not disappoint and for $39 is a great deal to leave you satisfied with many courses of tasty offerings!
Be the first to ReplyBest sushi ever.
It melts in your mouth. A litty pricey, but the food is excellent.
Be the first to ReplyAhhh Sugarfish.
My go to sushi spot when I'm eating with my family. There was a bit of a wait so they had me leave my name and my phone number. It said they will text me when I'm near the top of the line. The phone number didn't text me but I assume they knew I was waiting in the lobby. While my family and I waited, we ordered a bottle of nigori. You have to pay up front instead of putting it on your future bill. My family and I got the Nozawa Trust Me. We are pretty sure they added more fish to the menu! As always, I replaced the crab hand roll with another toro hand roll. Overall fresh sushi and great service as always! Can't wait to come back
Be the first to ReplyMy friend brought me here because it's her favorite sushi
My friend brought me here because it's her favorite sushi spot in LA. Great location in Manhattan beach. Very walkable neighborhood with tons of cute shops, and you can spot the beach a couple blocks down on the side streets. We came on a sunny Sunday evening early dinner time, around 5. The place was already popping, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a spot for 2 at the bar. Very minimalist, traditional yet sleek decor. We went with the trust me menu, which is what my friend says she usually gets. This was a great way to try a variety of delicious things without decision fatigue or FOMO. Edamame kicked things off, a plate piled high with the pods perfectly salted, expertly steamed. Next course was sashimi in a soy/ginger sauce. Then, a few rounds of sushi. Salmon and albacore, I believe. The standout for me was a blue crab hand roll. The crab was so fresh, delicately meaty and briny. Phenomenal taste. Loved the way the coolness with the crab meshed with the warmth of the fresh rice. Really comforting and satisfying. I actually ordered one extra of these. I'd for sure get this again. Each course came out quickly, but I didn't feel rushed. Service was impeccable. The waitstaff functions like a team, everyone willing to help wherever needed. A note- they are t a tipping restaurant, but opt for a standard service fee on the bill (ours was 16%, two people- not sure if bigger groups are more.) The basic trust me was $35 apiece and including the extra roll, tax, and service, our total for 2 people was around $95. All things considered, not bad for excellent quality, hyper fresh sushi in LA. Honestly, I can easily spend $50 for one person on a couple of specialty rolls of lower quality in smaller cities, so the price seemed beyond reasonable for quality. My friend also ordered another trust me to go for her girlfriend (lol- request to bring home from 2 hours away). Told me they put what everything is on the package and separate into diff sections -super fast, ready a few minutes after we finished.

This is my go-to spot for Sushi as it's very fresh and tasty. I also love the rice here as it has a good balance of rice vinegar. Prices are on the expensive end but for the amount of food you get I am full by the end of it and it's well worth the $50-60 per person with tip included. I also like how you get a hand roll or two included in the set. Inside has a minimal appeal with bar and table seating. The service is always great here refilling any ginger/wasabi you may need and drinks.
Be the first to ReplyMy partner and I recently went to Sugarfish in Manhattan
My partner and I recently went to Sugarfish in Manhattan Beach, and once again, this renowned sushi spot lived up to its exceptional reputation. We both opted for the chef's special trust-me combinations - my partner went with the "Don't Think. Just Eat. Trust Me." while I got "The Nozawa Trust Me." Both selections were a testament to the chef's mastery in curating delectable combinations of flavors that left us utterly satisfied. The standout feature of our meal was undoubtedly the freshness of the fish. Each piece was a succulent symphony of flavors, showcasing the high quality and meticulous attention to detail that Sugarfish is renowned for. The service was commendable, with attentive staff ensuring our dining experience was seamless. The ambiance was cozy, and fortunately it wasn't that busy when we went which was a Saturday afternoon around 3pm. However, one dish fell short of our expectations - the Pink Lobster. Unfortunately, its slimy texture and unexpected flavor were not to our liking. It's definitely an acquired taste so here's your warning. In conclusion, Sugarfish in Manhattan Beach continues to be our go-to destination for exceptional sushi. The consistency in quality and the ability to deliver an unforgettable dining experience reaffirm why we keep coming back.
Be the first to ReplyThe sushi reminds of me of the ones I ate in Japan.
I love love their sushi rice. It really makes a difference when you're eating nigiri. Definitely will go here again for lunch.

I've tried so many other sushi restaurants all over the country and I ALWAYS come back to sugarfish! Restaurant is always clean, the fish is always so buttery and fresh, and I've never had problems with the service! I've been to multiple locations and it's always been a wonderful experience. I only wish they would offer sides of the ponzu sauce that comes with the tuna sashimi! Hopefully one day!

This is hands down my favorite sushi place! The service and ambiance is great, they make sure to take care of you without it being annoying lol incredibly lucky to be at a walking distance. :)
Be the first to ReplyI can't believe the rave about this place.
The worst sushi I have ever eaten. Do your sled a favor try a new sushi place everything gets better from here.

I'm a sushi snob, but I thought this place was a really great value for what you get. The fish is fresher than and 2 steps up from like an Asaka or Fusion place, and the pricing is better. I took a star off because it's prefix style so it's not very much variation but that is why the pricing is such a good value, I suppose. There are better Sushi places locally. Izakaya and Flyin Finn are both way tastier but also way more expensive. So, I was VERY impressed with the quality to price ratio. Will come back for that. Their rice is also mixed with some sugar I think cause it was sweet and I liked what it added to the sushi flavor. I'm assuming that's where the name comes from. Overall I would recommend the experience and will be back!
Be the first to ReplyI was taken back when I walked into the restaurant.
It was so clean and I loved the woodwork on the ceiling. Our server was amazing. He explained how we could order our food. The food was so good. It was so fresh and I loved the combinations of fish. I would love to come again.
Be the first to ReplyNot kid friendly at all.
But Can't ever go wrong with sugar fish. Great food. Pricey but bomb.

This was good for a nice little road trip! It was perfect to share with my girlfriend!
Be the first to ReplyHad such a great experience here last night with my wife.
The food was amazing! We both ordered the chefs special "Don't think just eat" and loved all of the items served. Highly recommend.

My husband and I always come here after we fly back from lax. The only other sugarfish location I've been to is the one in Beverly Hills and the wait here is typically longer. I'd say it's around 30min to an hour If you go during dinner time during the week. The quality of sushi is def better than that of a basic sushi restaurant. BUT, If you're looking for something authentic, I'd def go else ware. Overall, I'd say you get what you eat for.

My friends love this sushi place and have been a handful of times already! You can't make a reservation but you can add your name to the waitlist once you arrive. They won't seat you until your whole party is there. We waited 30 minutes. You can easily walk around and find seating in the outdoor areas. They'll text when the table is ready and you can check your place in line.Once we got seated, we all got green tea. It hit the spot! Most of us did a deal called Trust Me. They have deals where you get a certain number of plates. It's better than ordering a la carte. We got to eat edamame, sashimi, nigiri, and hand rolls. So fresh! I was not quite stuffed by the end, but getting there. Two friends got other deals that were slightly more expensive and came with a bit more food. I'd say pick the deal that best suits your appetite. It's a dimly lit place. Cozy vibes and a bit too loud to be romantic imo.Service was great! The staff all pitch in, as the host also helped take plates or refill hot water for the tea. They were all really nice and personable. It's not a big restaurant so it makes sense that there's a wait.Overall, it's a good deal for what you get! Trust Me was $35. Not bad!The signs say not to bring food or drinks, but my friend was able to bring a bday cake in that they stored in the kitchen until we were ready to eat it.Parking is alright. There's a parking garage next door with cheap parking. Otherwise, I'm not familiar with other parking areas. I'm sure there's parallel around somewhere.
