We came as a group of four for dinner with reservations made a few months in advance. This location is hidden within a public greenspace park (Stadtpark) in its own gorgeous building with panoramic glass windows and curvilinear walls and wooden ceilings that look like a 3D-printed topographical map. The dining area itself is one large room with significantly brighter lighting than most upscale restaurants. The big highlight for us was the bread cart. This bread cart is absolutely massive - more like a rolling mechanic's toolbox - with probably two dozen types of artisanal bread. The bread sommelier Andreas told us that he procures the bread fresh daily from a variety of bakeries in Vienna plus a few secret vendors and a handful made in-house. We asked him what was his favorite bread was. His response, "Oh, I don't eat it anymore." We were dying laughing. For our meal, we went with ordering dishes a la carte instead of the tasting menu. I went with the beeswax cooked char, which is quite a sight to see prepared tableside. There were countless other fabulous dishes I tried. Instead of going through each one, I'll let you peruse the photo gallery. I love that Steirereck gives you a little informational card with each dish since they are complicated and a long-winded explanation of each would probably grow old. Leaving the restaurant, we even got a Steirereck magazine, which has dozen of recipes and makes for an epic coffee table book. Overall, this was one of if not the best dining experiences I've ever had in my life. Absolutely incredible.
