Nice atmosphere but really bad service
Went to Spago with high expectations- the restaurant and ambience was lovely, food was good but what absolutely killed the experience was the service- it took 20 mons after we were say down for one of the waiters to finally come over and acknowledge us. We had to wait ages between each course. Even after we were given dessert menus we had to wait 25 mins for our order to be taken. Quite a shame

Delicious, super service, the chef stopped by to say hello (Wolfgang Puck) really recommended, everything was very comfortable, we will return

Truly had a wonderful experience at Spago again. From the hostess to the bartender to the waitstaff, everybody was welcoming, professional, polite, efficient, helpful and accommodating. We had a lovely roomy booth. It is great when a restaurant is thoughtful of their customers comfort and doe not pack tables in like sardines. The noise level was not (thankfully!) too loud. Had the best mocktail ever with these little juicy seeds in them - a "Falooda" - O.M.G. think i had 4 of them, it was so good! Salmon Pizza was perfectly baked. My friend had an excellent and tender pasta. Apple strudel was flawless and so delicious! Love Spago. So glad they continue to uphold very high standards. Looking forward to returning!

I dont usually write bad reviews but felt the need on this one. My husband and I had friends visiting from Germany and decided on Spago. Food was average at best but we were having a nice time with friends. At the same time the check came, a server walked behind my husband and dumped a her trey of drinks including beer and water all over his back, getting his coat and shirt soaked. Manager came over to apologize and offered to have the coat dry cleaned. I explained that we live about 45 min away and would need the coat delivered back to us, to which he returned the coat back to my husband and gave us the GMs card, Steve Scott Springer. Said best to contact him and resolve the situation. Nothing was taken off the bill as a good gesture. Just the GMs business card. I emailed Scott on 10/16, 10/24 and 11/3, and have left him 2 voicemails and have yet to hear back. Its not the cost for the dry cleaning or the fact that they didnt comp anything (not even 1 drink) or that they wanted us to drive back to pick up the coat....its that Spagos prides themselves on great service and each time I have been there, I have had a terrible experience with their service.

Seated 45 minutes after the reservation time and was shuffled off to the bar with no explanation why the wait was so long. The hostess didn’t care we had to wait. The waitress barley talked to us and was so absent she had to ask us if we had received our appetizers or not. The drinks came out after we finished our apps. Generally felt like we were not wanted. The food was fine but nothing special. In-N-Our burger is a more enjoyable meal and experience. Wolfgang get your house in order here. All your other restaurants are great.

Always love coming here. Great food great service. The tuna cones are always a must. Had the duck breast and it was cooked perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyLively atmosphere. Awesome food. Fast service.
What an experience! Seated on time, center dining room. Energetic, caring and articulate server. The place was abuzz. The usual dinner lines up in four courses. Among the starters includes a very good warm bread selection, and “tuna cones“ which are an unique, tasty, sesame cracker baked into a cone and stuffed with wonderful Ahi tuna. (Reportedly served each year at the Oscars.) Highly recommended. Course 2 included soup, and the peach/burrata/prosciutto, and aged hamachi, all of which were great. Here is where they lost the star. Our first two courses were brought simultaneously, essentially burying us in food, that was served, for the atmosphere and reputation, far too quickly. A rushed feeling. Sub par considering we were informed ahead of time that our “experience” will exceed 2 hours. After we finished the doublefood experience, pace did improve. While we were enjoying our time together, and starting to enjoy our shared gnocchi (course 3), we noticed that part of the reason the place was abuzz, just so you are aware, was the 6 tables (of the 20 or so) that had children under ten, including an infant and several under 5. (Do kids eat free before 7?). The atmosphere was situated comfortably between Chuck-E-Cheese and a Costco food court on Saturday afternoon. (There were several cheese pizzas and some french fries…). There were some graduations this week, such as UCLA, but I was unaware Hawthorne elementary was having a 4th grade commencement. (The kids were all very well-behaved.) Entrees (course 4) were amazing. Branzino, duck and wagyu steak. 10/10. Desserts of Soufflés and the like, also perfect. Share the soufflé, the cookies, the strawberry thing. Our server served wine without offering a taste, but the wines were fine. Food quality is top shelf. Delivery and atmosphere were… unexpected. Only the rush is actually being criticized. Wait staff otherwise was attentive and friendly. Between the company and the food it was really pretty good.

As was on my own had a reservation at the bar. The waiter, Angel, was superb. He told me he works for more than 20 years there, which says a lot about what great workplace this must be. The entire experience was a proof of that. The tasting menu was brilliant. And as the highlight the owner, Wolfgang Puck, spoke with me for quite a while. Not a cheap place, but worth it !
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Experience and Service
Had a disappointing experience here - both entrees needed to be sent back because they were undercooked. When a main course isn’t done right it ruins the whole meal. They offered to remake the dishes but the service is so slow that we were there for nearly 3 hours and didn’t receive much service attention. Still managed to be over $200 meal - didn’t even comp both returned mains. Too bad bc it started off nicely. It has an upscale ambiance with a stuffy crowd. Food Run down: tuna cones - solid Caesar salad - lackluster wouldn’t order again Mushroom pizza - best part of meal Veal - tremendous disappointment- didn’t turn out well at all, had potential with the tasty sauce. Duck - asked for medium came rare - again could’ve been fantastic Dessert to go - kaiserschmarnn is revolting after two bites and tastes very sugary. At the end of the day if you’re charging high prices for excellence then you need to deliver excellence. If you don’t then you should invite someone back to show them how well you can really do it.

We had a great experience. Arrived 20 minutes before reservation but they seated us early. I'd heard about the smoked samon pizza but wasn't sure about it but was convinced to try it. Totally the right choice, it was amazing.

Amazing food and service! We had a great time celebrating our wedding anniversary at Spago. Pricey but one of our best food experiences.

Still some of the best dining in LA - service team went above and beyond and every dish we tried was incredible. Be sure to save room for dessert!

Fantastic show, amazing dinner, outstanding service and lovely atmosphere! You managed to fix us a nice table near the stage although it was fully booked. We’ll be back! 👏
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and outstanding service.
This is how you look after people and serve great food. From the starter to the mains it was outstanding. Friendly waiting staff on point and not a forced emotion in them. All of them were outstanding. The food was great - the tuna cones and the cerviche were tasty. As was the branzino and the lobster pasta. To top it off they did an off menu Mickey Mouse pizza for our kids. Excellent on all fronts. In the fairness of honesty, the only slight was on the way in and the way out the four valets all let my wife walk in and out in the pouring rain while they kept dry under a tent and they had umbrellas there too. Bad manners on their behalf. But we had a great night regardless. Kudos again to the staff inside.
Be the first to ReplyDinner for One
I so wanted to give this place a five star review as it is number two on my restaurant bucket list, but I had some minor complaints. First, I was having dinner for one and wanted to make a reservation as soon as possible because of the popularity. I tried to do it online and it wouldn’t complete my request. So I submitted an online inquiry and heard nothing back. Finally I called and spoke to a very nice lady that got it all booked, but then when I got a text asking to confirm my reservation, which I did, I heard nothing back. I had my hotel call and confirm my confirmation. I arrived early and went to the host stand. The two people manning it barely smiled or looked at me, however the young lady who took me to my table was all smiles. My table for one was in a service area behind a tree. I was disappointed. I understand a single diner is not as big a revenue source as parties of two or more, but I’m a paying customer. Then one of the servers, William, came to my table with a menu and to welcome me and I commented about where I was. He moved my table so I had a better view, brought over some nicer chairs and made sure I was well taken care of. He introduced me to the sommelier who helped me pick a wine to have with my dinner and my actual server, James, was very attentive. I got the pink moscato to drink and it was perfect. For dinner I had the wiener schnitzel. It came out piping hot and crispy, but could have used a touch more salt when they finished frying it. Also it was a little greasy. The warm potato salad was superb and the cucumber salad was good, just a little heavy on the caraway seeds. Then to finish off my meal, I got the Apple strudel. They gave me three piece instead of the normal two. I couldn’t eat it all, but it was so delicious. It was a good meal, but could have been great if the customer service before I arrived and right when I arrived had been a little better. The prices are high for what you get, so great service should be part and parcel. Thankfully William and James made up for the rough start I had.

Nice place when we enter, passing the bar. But our table in the room where we feel as if too many tables in the room. I asked if we could have outdoor table and she said no you can not. And the other staff said it was closed. We order oyster, pizza, black ink pasta and fish and rose. The rose is good. But the food was oke. Theres nothing special about it

Excellent, attentive service that felt genuine and caring. Superb food. The atmosphere is lively, not for those looking for quiet. We’ve been before and didn’t expect a tranquil space, just excellent food and service, both of which we found.
Be the first to ReplyAnniversary Visit
With a two day stop-over in LA on our way out of the country, we decided to hit Spago, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great, the cocktails and drinks were as expected. Between the two of us, we had the Jidori chicken and the duck, both of which were excellent. I personally was torn between the duck and the veal, and on a return trip I plan to try the veal. Almost all the entrees were between $50-75, which I thought was extremely well priced for the Beverly Hills area. For dessert we split the Warren pears. The staff top to bottom was the real star of the show, as I would expect the food at a Wolfgang Puck restaurant to be top notch. While taking our drink order, the server asked if we were celebrating any sort of occasion to which we mentioned we were on a trip celebrating our anniversary. This led to a well wishes message on our dessert plate, which was a nice touch we thought considering the server remembered that it was our 8th anniversary specifically. Would highly recommend!

A beautiful sunny Friday in Beverly Hills
Lunch at Spago, on the terrace, The Best.
Started with the smoked salmon pizza which was a total delight,Ko in perfect for 3.
We then had an delicious agnolotti stuffed with squash and finished lunch with the special sorbet, melted perfect fruit. Enjoyed delicate house bubbles. Never miss Spago it's sublime, and has the ultimate service and menu.
Special Treat for Date Night. Elegant and Delicious
Spago is that restaurant you go to to celebrate something special or if you just want to feel special.
In the days of a pandemic, you’re likely to be seated in a tent, instead of a restaurant, but you will still receive red carpet treatment.
We were seated in a cozy room near a fireplace on a very cold January night, perfect for a romantic evening. We started with champagne and caviar, because we were celebrating. The staff goes out of its way to make you feel important here. Our server brought us a delightful amuse bouche of tuna tartare to begin. And he kept our champagne flutes filled all night.
We both were in the mood for chef’s famous Wiener schnitzel, which was not on the menu that night. No worries. Spago’s rule is if they have the ingredients, they will make it for you.
It was an amazing night capped off by a visit to our table by chef and owner Wolfgang Puck.
Hint: When you make a reservation, ask for a table in the fireplace room.
Disappointing Experience at what was once a GREAT restaurant
Had been looking forward to taking my family to Spago Beverly Hills as I had outstanding experiences there previously. When we arrived, found that the restaurant that we loved so much had a dramatically different setup. The restaurant was closed for seating other than groups. We were seated outside in a outdoor fixture built on the street. Not the experience we were looking for as we were now eating in a “Bubble” but we stayed. When we made the reservation, we were not told about this change. Had we known, we would have selected a different restaurant. Our server Carlos tried to do his best but seemed to be rushing us. Very quick interactions with the table. Not what I had been accustomed to previously. 3 at our table had ordered the gnocchi only to find out 10 minutes after ordering that they were out. My son then ordered the Cavatelli Pasta and instead of mushrooms he wanted to add chicken. Instead, Carlos recommended angel hair pasta and chicken so we agreed. When I received the bill, they charged $22 for the pasta and $65 for the chicken. $87 for pasta with chicken. I ordered the wienerschnitzel. I had been looking forward to this as I have had it before and was the best that I have had outside of Germany. This one was undercooked and simply not good. I do not mind paying for a great meal, but this was anything but great. At no point did anyone come by to check on us as one would expect from a top restaurant. Just a poor experience overall. Sadly, my favorite restaurant in LA will not be seeing me or my family again.
Be the first to ReplyOk, not as great as it was hyped
Food was ok, service was less so. Nothing bad to say, I guess I was just unimpressed. The place is so hyped, I expected something memorable. Portions are small, I left hungry.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing for New Year’s Eve
Fantastic way to celebrate start of New Year. Four of us went from 10 pm to about 1 am. Live music was fantastic with dancing. Warning: a bit loud so dinner conversation was a bit challenging, but there were good pauses for conversation throughout night. Food and service was superb, with great menu and best waiter ever. Lots of champagne and other extras, including take-home gift bag with full breakfast for next day and even a gift scarf from Banana Republic. Delicious four-course meal with lots of great choices for two main courses. Our seating was semi-outside in an enclosed pavillion - felt very safe, given Covid, with excellent social distancing, but also, quite comfortable. Inside dining also was an option, but more expensive. Our cost fir this fantastic evening was $350 per person - not as cheap as eating here on a regular night, but very much wirth the splurge for a complete New Year’s Eve extravaganza. We loved it! Go, Spago!
Be the first to ReplyThey cancelled NYE reservation!!!
Unbelievable! New Year Dinner got cancelled!
We booked two months ahead and one day prior NYE I called to check the menu and I was told that reservation got cancelled because they emailed us but did not receive an answer.
Checking email inbox the message was sent 45 minutes ago.
I cannot believe that we book a table so early and now end up without a reservation for NYE.
Memorable bday dinner!
Our family enjoyed the most brilliant evening at Spago celebrating our daughter’s 15th bday…co-founder Barbara Lazaroff stopped by our table during the dinner…she was an excellent conversationalist. So charming and fun. Latter, she sent out several deserts to the table….fantastic, opulent presentations of desert! WOW! Thank you for making our dinner so special and memorable!
