Sorelle Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
This has to be my favorite place in Charleston.
The food is incredible and its a little pricey, but so worth it. The portions are large and the tasting menu was some of the best bites of food I've had. Our favorite was the pasta course, it was tough to pick a favorite. The sorelle spaghetti is so good and I crave it often. The swordfish Piccata was also a favorite, and the appetizer plate is so good. All the drinks are so good and they also have a large wine selection. The service is always fantastic and they have many people working together to make it an experience. This is my favorite place to take people to when in downtown Charleston!
I really wanted to love this place, but the experience was
I really wanted to love this place, but the experience was just OK. Food: Our group shared 4 starters: Arancini, Ostriche Crude (oysters), Burrata, Tuna Crudo. The arancici was excellent, and the burrata was very good. We had most of the pasta dishes: Parpadelle w/ rabbit, spaghetti, pillows of gold, a chef's special seafood pasta with shrimp, crab and lobster, and my entree was the Ciciones. I tried a nite or two of each and the chef's special pasta was the best of the bunch! Otherwise, the consensus was that the pasta dishes were bland and unremarkable. Service: The service was acceptable. It's evident the staff strives to deliver a high end experience but it fell a bit short. 3 of the 4 entrees came together, but the 4th (chefs special) was 6-7 minutes behind. As we started to finish, completely empty plates sat on the table for 20-30 minutes without being bussed as we watched managers, bussers and servers all pass the table with empty hands. All 4 of us noticed the dirty look the server gave us when we declined dessert. Ambiance: Incredible all the way around. This was the most memorable aspect of the Sorelle experience. Beyond the ambiance and aesthetic everything else was supremely average. This meal doesn't crack my top 10 best italian meals in Charleston and there wasn't anything that would bring me back.

Along with the chefs experience menu, we were treated with great respect and care throughout the entire meal. Everything is fresh and well paired, giving you a unique experience that is truly memorable. The way they laid out the restaurant is so beautiful and welcoming, we really cannot say enough about this establishment.
One of the best Italian meals we have had in Charleston!
As native New Yorkers, we are picky about our Italian food. We had a wonderful experience with dinner at Sorelle Restaurant while visiting Charleston, SC. Our server, Darus was amazing and worked around our dietary restrictions to conjure up a feast both my husband and I savored. Darus's attention to every detail and mission to give us an amazing dining experience was very special. The food was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The ambiance was intimate and romantic. We cant say enough about our experience, and look forward to our next meal there when we return to Charleston!

Everything was exceptional! The ambiance was great, full house and very aesthetic. From the moment we got there the hosts were so kind, waiting for our table we had a drink at the bar and everyone came to make sure we were being taken care of. We were celebrating our anniversary and when seated at our table there was a card signed by all the staff. Managers checked on us multiple times. Our sever was also so kind, even took us out to their balcony for a picture to commemorate the night. So thoughtful. The food was delicious from the arancini to fresh pasta. We absolutely loved it here and can't wait to go back!

We had dinner last night at Sorelle! It was aaaaamazing and our first time there. Rick and Lucy were our servers and they made many recommendations for food and wine parings...they NAILED EVERY ONE! Everything they recommended was delightful and we can't wait to come back and do it again when the seasonal menu items change. HIGHLY recommend!
This place totally met its standards.
It is so elegant and beautiful on the inside! Definitely fancy. The food was absolutely delicious and all of the plates looked so perfectly put together. fast service and very friendly wait staff as well as the manager came and brought over a complimentary appetizer just because! We will be back.

Not happy after going to this restaurant tonight and being charged for refills on ice tea. completely unnecessary with the prices they charge. Food was delicious and service was attentive but our server should have informed us that ice tea refills cost. I know of no other restaurant of this caliber that charges. Ridiculous!!!

Super cool interior, everything we had on the menu was phenomenal. swordfish piccata was and pasta was amazing. would certainly come back here also service was 10/10
Best Italian place I've ever been.
From time Crab and pasta it was so delicious!! The bartenders and drinks were on point.
What another great experience, I joined 5 others for dinner
What another great experience, I joined 5 others for dinner Saturday and was not disappointed. This has to be the best Italian restaurant I have been to in years. The restaurant is so beautiful, from the fresh flowers that you see once you walk in and throughout the restaurant to the dining room which is painted in this wonderful grey that layers the room in sophistication, style and romance. It is truly a treat. The bread service with garlic oil was amazing to start along with the meat and cheeses! The caviar bites, my goodness I could have eaten 10! The best way to eat it, is one bite. I LOVED the arugula salad with green strawberry. The pumpkin lasagna was such a treat and beautiful to look at. We also tried the 2 pasta specials, the pork on one of them really topped the meal!!! All of the flavors with such a fun pasta was amazing, I could have eaten it all if I were not sharing

My coworker and I love coming here for an afternoon pick me up! Best hot chocolate in all of Charleston!!
Beautiful restaurant with a few flaws
Beautiful restaurant and kind staff. I sat at the bar downstairs. A few things: broccoli Caesar needs to be served with a good sharp knife, as the dull dinner knife is useless in cutting the broccoli and tiny plate makes it tough to maneuver. Dessert of chocolate boudin is delicious but 4 people could share one order, it’s that large and it’s too sweet. I should have consulted with staff about menu suggestions. I don’t think a Napolitano or Sicilian would recognize this as an Italian restaurant, but never mind as it’s really lovely and you just have to suspend your disbelief and go with it.
Overpriced for the service and quality of food.
Four of us splurged on my 50th bday the tasting menu w/ in the private vault/wine room. The room is gorgeous, as is the restaurant. Our server, Rowan, was genuinely kind, but the overall meal was terribly disappointing and NOT what you'd expect from a James Beard award winning chef + accolades from various magazines etc. The sommelier, Angel, was rather young and a few times arrived w/ the paired wine AFTER our course had arrived and we'd begun eating. He didn't own up to the mistake, which was disappointing and lacking class. Fresh bread did not accompany our first course (but the gluten free cracker did), A change of silverware/plates were not always changed between courses. Our main course food did NOT arrive all at the same time, and the meat wasn't properly seasoned. (note: we had much better meat the following day at Lewis bbq) Basically, the C team was working on our Monday night visit but the prices were reflective of an A team dining experience. Definitely not the way I expected to spend my special 50th birthday dinner. I highly recommend going to FIG for dinner! We had an incredible and impeccably executed meal two nights prior to Sorelle - and for slightly less money.

I've been to many fine restaurants around the world with Michelin Stars. This ranks with the best! It deserves a Michelin Star or two!
Food , service and ambience were all exceptional.
The main dining room is beautiful. The somelier was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Not only was the food amazing (Sorelle spaghetti (!!!), pillows of gold ravioli, zeppole e cafe for dessert(!!!)) - but our waiters Brooklyn and Jason were amazing! Great meal recommendations and service. They had a full house but made us feel like we were their only table. We are just here for the weekend but ordered two takeout dishes so we could enjoy more at home tomorrow. The ambiance was fantastic. 10/10 recommend.
3/10. Server was great. Management wasn’t. Food decent.
We went for a birthday dinner & put that in our res request. The table next to me got bday celebration. I didn’t… Nothing special. The managers also acknowledged every table but ours & had their butt in my boyfriend’s face 3 times. Seems like they take care of regulars to a tee & disregard their tourists visitors. Pasta was homemade & outstanding get the tortillini. Pork chop is overrated. Arranchi was over cooked. If our waiter wasn’t amazing i’d have much more to say.
We recently went to Sorelle for our anniversary dinner.
Every single part of the meal was divine. The food selections were amazing, the cocktails were craft and delicious and the atmosphere was special. In my opinion, there is no other place similar in Charleston. Definitely a must visit when you are in town. the staff from the hostess to the waiter to the manager were all very helpful and knowledgeable.
Exceptional!!!
With the hype about this place a bit down, some of the more snobby than professional staff out, this is now a really great place to go. Exceptional food creations (especially the fish dishes), excellent wine list and very professional staff that really take care of their customers. A great experience. Now one of our top favorites in Charleston.
Dinner the other evening at Sorelle was memorable.
The service was very attentive from Nate, one of Sorelle's newest servers. The food was amazing from the pumpkin lasagna to the rabbit pasta to the sea bass and diver scallops. The wine pairing and Champagne selection were spot on. The Sommelier was also helpful as we were making our dinner selections. Everyone who we encountered that evening was professional but extremely pleasant. Love the restaurant's ambiance, as well. Can't wait to return!
Off the charts amazing!!
Amazing dining experience! We had a large group of 10 and they accommodated us at the most perfect table! Darius was our waiter, who was friendly and very helpful with food and wine. He was excellent! The food was really off the charts delicious! The menu has some very different items and we tried many, family style, and the entire experience left us all amazed!! We will definitely be returning and recommending Sorelle to other!
Ravioli goes hard son.
I’m going to need an intervention after eating at Sorelle Charleston. I would street fight 6 dudes twice my size for another bite of the pillows of gold ravioli. I may go on a hunger strike to be honest… there is not another thing I’ll ever want to eat again after that ravioli. It is not pillows of gold, it is pillows from god. Praise em.
Worth it
Amazingly creative Sicilian and Italian food. You can't make this food yourself at home. Definitely worth it for a special occasion.
Amazing Establishment. Almost Perfect Culinary Experience
Food: Majority of the dishes exceeded our expectation, one did not. - Appetizers: The octopus was backed with amazing sauce and chickpeas, not the usual grilled octopus that we usually get. The fresh baked bread is a Must to order, you won’t regret it even if you are on low carb diet like us, this is the sin that can be forgiven. - Entrée/main dishes: Two main dishes were Impressive and Out of this word: The impressive dish of all are the swordfish, we expected a dry/tough, steak like meaty fish, but the way they prepare it, it was just perfect…. Juicy, tender and unique. I highly recommend it for fish lovers. The Out of this word dish is the “Gnochetti”’ the pasta with the black truffle. It was truly heaven on earth, made with perfection. The truffle was of the highest quality and fresh. You just have to pay for the price. I will go back to this restaurant during the truffle season just to have this dish. The only dish that did not meet our expectation was the pork chop, although it was of the highest quality, and seasoned very well, but it was dry. We asked our waitress three times before we ordered it (as we were disappointed many times before at other places) if it is juicy and will be prepare medium and not tough, she affirmed that it will be as we order…. But unfortunately, it was not. We took only one bite and the whole dish went back with us for left over lunch. The patatas side dish was too fried and just OK, (skip it for sure) - Desserts: The “Budino Di Cioccolato” was just amazing. Drinks: Amazing cocktails drinks; the one we tried ad in order of favorites: #1 the Negroni #2 The Old fashioned #3 the Sorrento. BTW, it try old fashioned at almost every place I dine at and this one is one of the best. Wine list is extensive, but our cellar at home has top collection and the ones on the list are way over prices (more than 4 times for mid range and more than 2 times for high range). So we skipped it. Although, if you are ordering the tasting menu that day and want to pair it with wine, I highly predict that they will serve you at least higher quality (higher rated wine, than just a table wine)… the price of wine pairing is not cheap. Service: All staff working as a “Team”… This is a rarity these days, but “Sorelle” is taking the lead on this and most probably will establish the Gold Standard in Hospitality Service. They all are very attentive, helpful, and courteous. As an example, the seating hostess did not read my note on the reservation requesting a quiet corner table to celebrate a special occasion, so she seated us in the worst table in the house. Kevin came to the rescue, and he said I saw your note and I would like to accommodate you… He moved us to the best table in the restaurant per our request. The good thing, we were the first seating of the day at 5pm. (the only time we found during the reservation), still good that the waiter Kevin noticed it. Ambience/atmosphere: Nicely decorated, modern, but small dinning room. Value: Not cheap, yet the price matches the experience. I did not expect less. Overall rating! I will give it 4.9 out of 5 Recommendations: Absolutely and definitely highly recommended. Make a reservation way in advance. (The table that we liked, more of private, was #34. Small table for two.)
Excellent in every way and looking forward to returning.
Had read a number of positive reviews of this restaurant and decided to book a table for ourselves and another couple on a visit to Charleston from Savannah. We opted to go with the Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner and it was just marvelous. Every course, served family style, was superb. The service was excellent as well. We look forward to going back on our next visit and trying the regular menu. Highly recommend this restaurant, not inexpensive but IMHO worth the price.
Sorelle was superb!
Sorelle was a dynamite meal, the pastas are perfection, the swordfish was exquisite and the spaghetti squash was a splendid surprise to everyone.
Outstanding!
Four of us enjoyed the Feast of the Seven Fishes. What a treat. Creative & delicious. The restaurant also did an excellent job of serving gluten free alternatives for one in our group.
