Seoul Soulongtang Allston Reviews from The Last Year
Great restaurant for a very comforting soulongtang (beef
Great restaurant for a very comforting soulongtang (beef bone broth)! I had the soulongtang + L.A. Kalbi combo. I really enjoyed the soulongtang and you can add salt/pepper to it to your taste. The L.A. Kalbi was chewy and below average, so I wouldn't recommend getting it. The combination comes with rice and the meal comes with banchan.
This is my go-to place whenever I am craving cold noodles.
They only start serving this closer to summer, and it is great to battle the heat. It was hot over the weekend, and the refreshing cold soup definitely helped cool me down. I ordered the combo, so I got kalbi side with it. The kalbi is so flavorful, and the onion it comes with is so sweet. I also like to order the jokbal with bai top salad. There is so much flavor but also pretty spicy for me, but the cold noodles help cool down the spice, so it is a perfect combo. Did take out, but the place looked clean and was pretty full on a Sunday afternoon. The staff was nice and took my order promptly and waited about 20 mins for it to be ready.
I have been meaning to try Seoul Soulongtang for years but
I have been meaning to try Seoul Soulongtang for years but I am glad I was able to finally try their food last night. We ordered their kimchi pajun, which is their seafood with kimchi pancake, to start and it was amazing. It had a nice crunch to it, which was a nice change to how many other places execute their pancakes... usually not crunchy and somewhat soggy, however, it was nothing but delightful here! A great portion size too. For entree, we did the Kalbi Tang combo with Je-yook bokkum. Kalbi Tang is short ribs in a bone broth with glass noodles, which I believe you can order spicy, as well. Je-yook bokkum is a spicy pork dish with mushrooms and onions that also comes with a bowl of rice. The combo dishes come in slightly smaller dishes than the normal order size of each but nevertheless, still filled two adults just fine. I really enjoyed the broth of the Kalbi tang noodle soup. I added some kimchi into it and it was perfect. No complaints here, it is a great spot to hit up for Korean comfort food!
A delicious busy Korean restaurant for when you want some
A delicious busy Korean restaurant for when you want some hearty stew! Loved the spicy galbitang in particular - meaty, tons of vermicelli noodles, well seasoned, very filling. Wasn't as big of a fan of their traditional soulongtang - the point is to be seasoned at the table with S&P, but I still felt the base broth was not meaty or hearty enough to truly taste rich even after seasoning. We also got the bossam plate which was delicious, loved the ssamjang it came with but it was pretty salty. The banchan was also nice with refills when asked, but not the most generous or varied. Service was generally pleasant although a few appeared less friendly and somewhat annoyed. Overall a lovely spot for some comfort K stews.
One of my favorite Korean restaurants in Boston! The food
One of my favorite Korean restaurants in Boston! The food tastes authentic and incredibly hearty. The only downside is that the rice tends to be served slightly cold.
The best spot in Boston for comforting Korean classics.
From the moment you step inside, the aroma of sizzling meats and savory broths envelops you. We ordered the (S9) bossam, (A1) seafood pancake, (E1) soulongtang, and (E8) ugeoji kalbitang. The bossam came with tender and juicy slices of pork belly. The seafood pancake was golden, crispy, and packed with seafood. The soulongtang is filled with tender slices of beef brisket and warms you from the inside out. The ugeoji kalbitang has a fragrant and robust broth and is filled a generous portion of Napa cabbage. The restaurant fills up quickly, especially on weekends, but the service is fast and efficient.
Good Soulongtang.
It was super hot in the stone pot. But good flavor as long as you add enough salt and pepper yourself. The banchan was also decent. Server was very friendly. I saw Korean people chat and eat there, so I would assume it is authentic food:p Good experience, friendly server, and not very noisy ambient with decent space to enjoy our food.
delectable.
delicious. spectacular. a true taste of home. the soup always hits every single time- have tried soulongtang, kalbi tang, ugoji kalbitang and all are fantastic. bossam here is a good portion and comes with ample napa cabbage to wrap pork. service is fast and side dishes are simple but good. true comfort food. broth is good and feels clean. just a little expensive but this is boston.
Hearty food however service left something to be desired.
When we called ahead, we were told on the phone that the line was out of the door and that they cannot guarantee when we will be seated. We arrived and we were seated immediately with no line (which was a nice surprise). The staff all proceeded to rush us throughout the entire meal and it came off unpleasantly. Anyways, yes, remember to season your broth!
Arrived late afternoon to have a Korean warm soup dish.
A perfect rainy day for a warm dish of beef broth soup. The place is simple nothing fancy. Just same as most of the restaurants around here. I had a combination order of Galbitang with Samgyupsal; a bone broth rib soup with grilled pork belly on the side; it was a delicious combination. The amount of food was more than enough for an adult and taste was excellent, meaning it had the traditional flavor of the soup same as in Korea. The service was also very attentive. Checking often for your comfort. Had a pleasant late lunch in time in here.
