A Meal to Remember
This is one of 10 fine dining restaurants in the upmarket Tokyo Station Hotel. We could only get 3 of the 5 seats we wanted for dinner at this 18 seater restaurant which we had tried booking weeks before we came, testimony to its popularity. It was an exquisite meal of different bite-sized parts of chicken grilled on skewers, from the neck to the tail, including internal organs. Not for the faint hearted, but every piece was done to perfection. There were 3 choices of main course to finish off the meal - rice or udon in chicken broth, or ochazuke (green tea over rice), each delicately flavoured with the umami soup. Perhaps the only gripe we had was that it was meat heavy, and light on vegetables. Even then, this was the standout meal of our 3 day stay in Tokyo.
Be the first to ReplyLovely yakitori in an intimate atmosphere
We are there while we stayed at the Tokyo Station Hotel. The Yakitori is all chicken based and of high quality made from organic chicken. We took a set menu and I think they tested us Westerners with the first course of chicken neck. Since my wife is not as adventurous as I am in terms of food, I suspect they decided to give us the “Western” version with leaner meat and no intestines. I had to order liver and heart separately and the liver was some of the best yakitori I ever had.
