You wonโt regret the food and the experience :-)
Hands down the best Indian food !! Starting from the entry , to the chef - everyone was amazing. We had the onion pakora , potato chat and the chicken tandoori for appetizers, each one of them Came with their own dipping sauces. Each of them tasted different and unique - a sign of a great experience. For the entrees , we had the gulf fish , eggplant Hyderabadi , corn kurma and the naans. The truffle naan is literally to die for ! The curd rice on top of the fish is so authentic !! In addition to food , Landon our host was amazing with wonderful recommendations and wonderful service ! He made our day and was very kind All through. All in all an evening well spent!
Be the first to ReplyAbysmal vegetarian options
Excited to see an upscale Indian restaurant in NOLA with outstanding cocktails and ambience. However very disappointed at the lack of any decent vegetarian options on the menu. This is pretty appalling for an Indian restaurant. The few options that were vegetarian were lackluster and lacked any sort of imagination or creativity.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner for 6 of us including a vegetarian
6 of us came for dinner including a vegetarian who was born in India. The food was very good with great balance of spice...a upscale indian food experience when you don't want to eat at that great hole in the wall place
Be the first to ReplyIndian Creole Fusion!
Indian/Creole fusion? Sign me up! This was a great meal all around, and I can see why the chef is a James Beard finalist. The dining room and ambience is wonderful, very modern and with a cool modern playlist in the background. Service was on point at every juncture with a friendly staff, and we even had an appearance from the chef to present and serve the Biryani dish. The cocktail list is large, diverse and very interesting, not to mention delicious. The sommelier was great and helped explain our beverage options. Our waitress was friendly and professional. How about the food you ask? An explosion of flavors! Do not pass up on the "oyster bed roast". Fantastic flavors, perhaps not really Indian flavors, but wow did this plate surprise me with delicious tasting oysters. The onion Pakoda was another big hit at our table. Somewhat like a blooming onion but oh so much better. I could have eaten the entire dish on my own, but grudgingly shared with the other diners at our table. We were a party of four, and all were happy with our food. Entrees were reasonably sized and shareable if you have some appetizers. The biryani was really delicious and a large portion. Our waitress suggested the side order of Raita, which was a pretty sophisticated rendition, and so glad we ordered it. We enjoyed the food so much that we were just simply too full to explore the dessert menu. We will absolutely need to visit again on our next trip to New Orleans. In a city of great dining, this is a real gem
Be the first to ReplyAmazing!!!!
This place is absolutely amazing!!!!! Group of colleagues went there and ordered different dishes. Biryani, Curry Shrimp, Lamb Chops. Curry Gumbo for shared app. OMG!!!!! Heaven to the palate...: everything was absolutely delicious!!! Service was incredible and Chef is OUTSTANDING!!!! Gabriel, our server couldnโt have been more attentive!!! A MUST try!
Be the first to ReplyWould definitely go back
It was recommended by a tour guide. I thought it was going to be creole-Indian fusion but it was not. The server recommended against the curry gumbo which she said was simply curry powder in traditional gumbo. I got the banging banging dish which was the traditional eggplant dish but a purรฉe with truffle naan. Both absolutely delightful. My friend got the pork vindaloo which she thought was too spicy but she is a spice wimp. Drinks were decent. Iโd return just to try the gumbo.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic meal, great seevice
Absolutely fantastic meal. The flavors were bold but balanced, truly excellent food. The service was spot on. Environment was very nice but also casual enough for walk ins and travelers. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Experience
Loved everything about our dinner. Food was flavorful with some interesting twists on Indian cuisine. Cocktail menu also very unique with some excellent tasting drinks. Service was excellent as well. Would come back next time in New Orleans.
Be the first to ReplyLoved it!
So, so yummy. Nicely spiced, balanced small plates and mains. My only critique was the naan was a little too much butter. Highly recommend and super creative cocktails in a city known for cocktails!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing experience
We went for Dinner with a group of 6 friends. The place looks nice but the experience was simply awful. Firstly the service was the worst anyone of us had experienced through all our international travel. We had ordered some Naans bread with our meal, these however were served with our appetiserโs. Traditional the Naan bread is served with the main course, when we told the waitress serving us that we really wanted these with our main course, her comment was โ well you eat them and you could have retuned them back to the kitchenโ we were all shocked with her rude comments and we all felt insulted . We ordered some more Naanโs again and these came well after our main course, when we asked we were still waiting for these, her comment was โ well we have only one tandoor. In addition to the very poor service, the food was average in taste and portions were really small. For a restaurant that presents itself us something special, itโs far from that!
Be the first to ReplyThought I had been to all the best Nola restaurants.....
What an amazing restaurant. The wait staff are all gorgeous, friendly and smart. The cuisine is other worldly. I questioned whether a fusion restaurant could actually do a good job of Indian and this was the best Indian food I have had. Everything from the lamb to the chicken biriyani to the oysters to the naan bread was so refined and delicious. Also the atmosphere is both fun and chic. Come here for a great meal in a cool location.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and drinks but overpriced
We had lots of different dishes and everything was good. The chicken biryani and the oyster dish stood out. Wait staff was excellent. However this place is priced like a fine dining place and itโs really not on that level. The bill can easily get to 70 per person.
Be the first to ReplyNice surprise
I was pleasantly surprised by this Indian southern restaurant. The appetizer, cauliflower fritters were delicious. My main dish the baigan bharta was DELICIOUS! I ordered it spicy, I was not disappointed. I will be coming back to the spot.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and food
We enjoyed a incredible dinner last night at Saffron. The service was phenomenal with great thanks and appreciation to Laurence (Lou) and Rachel. We ordered the cauliflower fritters, spring salad, oyster roast, lamb, scallops, grilled shrimp and beef tenderloin kabobs. All were awesome.
Be the first to ReplyA trip to paradise
Had a birthday celebration here at one of New Orleans best restaurants, in my opinion. One feels welcome from the moment you make reservations (recommended) until you gather your things and sadly depart. The atmosphere, mood and general vibe of the establishment is pleasant and most satisfying. The staff are extremely accommodating to their patrons needs without being intrusive. The fare, well again in my opinion, is the finest in the land. Each offering transforms you to the exotic homeland where you can almost smell the jasmine. You will not regret visiting Saffron NOLA, believe me you would regret not experiencing such a delightful event.
Be the first to ReplyUpscale Indian offerings in an elegant setting
Need to show proof of vaccine on entry, and they have rules in place for mask-wearing. Good thing, as it gets crowded on a Saturday night. Cocktails were enjoyable. Don't know what wine would pair with the food, and didn't want to experiment. Menu is simple with few offerings, but all are done well. Don's be shy of the pork vindaloo as it is not all that spicy. The goat masala may pleasantly surprise you. All 4 main dishes were tried, shared, and enjoyed. Plenty of quality basmati rice offered to soak up the delicious sauces, so go easy on the naan. Three birthdays, but disappointed no birthday dessert was offered. A bit on the pricy side, but it is fine dining.
