I have been to 2 different locations within the past 2 weeks. The first in Reno. I was there in business and took a client. High level criticism...both steaks overcooked. Ordered med-rare and got medium. No check back by the server. Skimpy veggie sides and served cold. I have feedback to the manager when we were leaving. Manager apologies and offers a gift card to return. Visit 2 was in Pasadena, CA. My wife's birthday so yeah, I used the gift card I was given. Made the reservation. All was great! Decorated table, personalized menu for my wife, etc. Server greeted us. Toook a while for bread and water. Places our order. Salads came and were tasty. Then a food runner delivered our entrees. Our ribeyes were served in small plates. They were not. Sides for an entree. They were more like the plate under the dish of Mac & cheese. Plates so small you literally could not put any sides on the plate. The sweet potato casserole is AMAZING! Unfortunately, the asparagus was cold. Also, I was served and did not have a steak knife. The waiter asst had taken it with the plate he cleared from my wedge salad. I had to ask for one. The server then came by when we had each taken one bit of the steak and then we never saw him again until we were done eating. Ten minutes had passed and our dirty dishes were still sitting there and nobody came by. I got up to tell the manager about my experience so far. She apologized and said she would make it right. She took a couple of complimentary items(not entrees) off the bill and a small gift card. (Not enough for an entree for 1 ). They brought a nice dessert for my wife's birthday. Then the bill came. The waiter in a snarky way says "I hope that bill looks ok". I give feedback because I like a great dining experience when I go to a nice restaurant. I am happy to pay for that great food and service! My experiences at Ruth Chris is that they are a "nice steakhouse". They are expensive and their pricing is that of a PRIME STEAKHOUSE. Unfortunately, their food and service is not prime. I am sure the steaks are labeled as such, but if the chef overcooks it, what's the point of going out for that perfect steak. I was also surprised that on both visits, not only was my table never visited by a manager just touching tables, the managers were not visible "on the floor". Maybe I will give Mastros or Flemmings a try for that perfect steakhouse dining experience. You won't get it at Ruth Chris.
