Sunday Brunch
We went to Brunch at the Rusty Pelican and had a lovely meal in the most Beautiful setting! Our waiter, Justin, was friendly, attentive and made sure that we were happily enjoying Brunch. The food was good, the service was perfect and the location and view were amazing! Will be back!

What a spot for dinner (or any meal!) in Miami! And the food was fabulous. I got the burrata salad (yum!) and my daughter and husband had the calamari and said it was the best they ever had! The steak was great as were the 50/50 potatoes ( which are a la carte but worth it! Otherwise you just have steak alone. We ate outside , on the water , it was a fabulous evening!

Magnificent location, very nice restaurant, excellent food, elegant and refined atmosphere, truly attentive and knowledgeable staff. The view is spectacular

Book to celebrate my dear friend's 60th birthday. The right online process. We arrived and no one gave us a reason, they didn't attend to us, they left us sitting at the reception. The place is beautiful for the view, it is quite large and a little bustling and overcrowded. It was full of very casually dressed staff behaving as if they were in a bar and not an upscale restaurant. I had not been, I had references from many years ago of it being a restaurant with an elegant long tablecloth and I found a restaurant with tourists in shorts and flip flops. What a disappointment. The service, very limited on the menu, we ordered the seafood tower and everything was frozen, nothing fresh. The burrata was barely ok, the best was the Ribeye steak and the roasted street with and the empanadas. The drinks ok. They offered us to sing happy birthday or bring dessert with a weather vane and it never happened. I don't recommend it, go have a drink for the view, period.

Overrated from any angle. Location is great, looking at the Miami sky line, but that is literally all that is good. Difficult parking, needed valet at 10$ because of an event. Staff below average, everything took forever although it was not busy in the restaurant. Asked for a table in the shade, not possible, though a number of guests that arrived after us, got one, or got a table with umbrella. Food below average too. My advise, go somewhere else.

Our waitress, Lala, was the only truly enjoyable part of our evening. The view would have been great had the window been clean. It was was very, very loud, and we had to shout to hear each other. The food was not hot and had to be sent back, twice, and even then was still not much warmer. Unfortunate attempt at a “Miami vibe”. Could be a great place. Will not be back.

After superb first visit a few years ago we were looking forward to our visit this week but unfortunately we left disappointed. The views and staff service were still great, but the food wasn't. Starters were OK but the main courses were really poor, one tasted terrible and the the scallops in the other were badly overcooked - the table next to us had the same issue and also left one of their main courses uneaten, so it wasn't just us. With the high prices being charged for very average food the value is poor. We are so sorry to be leaving this bad review but it's an honest one.

This place was a great place to get quality food. The food last night was average at its best. We went with a group of ten people of different ages. Our waitress was spread thin and the poor woman had too many tables to tend. Several people complained their drinks came without alcohol. The place had become a tourist only destination.

"I'm so sorry to have bothered you." That's what I wanted to say to the valet, the hostess, and the waitress. My kind wife reminded me to be polite and to go high, so I smiled and said, "Thank You" way too often in return for the snarky disregard we got. 1) Valet: "Do you want to be parked in the premier lot or the back lot (costs less)?" "Regular lot is fine, if self-park isn't available." "It's not." "Okay - regular. Thanks." 2) Walking up to the hostess: "Hi, we have a reservation for supper - we're 20 minutes early - can we wait in the bar?" "Your table isn't ready." [*It was 4:40pm on a Saturday. The bar seats were full - no other options. We waited, awkwardly, in the front lobby - no welcome, no accommodation, no apology or hurry, no "Can we bring you a drink while you wait?". One would have thought we were interrupting or not dressed right or something. Flat disregard and complete disinterest from the front desk. 3) Waitress: She was the nicest by far, but we had to flag her down 2-3 times mid-meal when we were clearly ready for fresh drinks, the plates were clearly done, it was time for dessert offers. Really felt like we were bothering everybody. SIX expensive drinks, two pricey main courses, one 'okay' dessert: $250. A smile would have been nice. Or, "thanks so much for coming in." Or even, "Gosh, we're under-staffed / extra-busy, thanks so much for your patience." - Again, waitress was the nicest of the bunch. She had several tables. Finally got out of there. Valet charge for the regular lot = $9(!). I've eaten here since the mid-1970's when I was a kid -- had my 9th birthday celebration there - great memories. Why the attitude now? The view of Biscayne Bay is truly amazing, the food is impressive-looking and okay-tasting. I just wanted to apologize for bothering them. The place is a cool Miami standard, but I won't be racing back to bother them any time soon.

Fantastic views of Biscayne Bay, Miami, and Miami Beach. So much fun watching the yachts go by. We had crab cake appetizers, very light and tasty, Ceaser salad and the fried chicken on a waffle, which was fantastic.
Be the first to ReplyGreat view but kitchen needs improvement.
The view of Miami from the restaurant’s terrace is beautiful on a cloudless sunny February afternoon. The cocktails are delicious but overpriced (double). Bottomless mimosas to El Mariachi cocktail made with Mezcal and other ingredients. Really good. My son’s mini burgers tasted good, but the fries were not hot. The grilled octopus also was good with potatoes, pesto and octopus ink. The main dish for two people was a board of salad, one lobster tail, steak, 2 pieces fried chicken, 2 poached eggs, 2 waffles, 2 watermelon wedges. The lobster tail was a bit rubbery, the steak not as tender as expected, the eggs were good as well as ¼ fried chicken. The server was good but service is slow going. Luckily the atmosphere compensated for the delayed kitchen. It was at least a 2 hours dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and view.
Service by Marcell was exceptional. Courteous, helpful and attentive. Food choices were extensive and from appetizers throughout the meal , all were beautifully presented and delicious. Wine and drinks were another delight, view of Biscayne Bay was peaceful and as the sun was setting the Miami skyline lit up! Gorgeous. We were not rushed. Would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyDo not recommend, terrible service!!
We sat for 15 mins with multiple staff serving all of the surrounding tables. I asked the host to check in with our server. Waitress serving table to left and right of us never spoke to us. After 10 more mins I noticed the same waitress serving drinks to a table that just came in 3 or 4 mins ago. Of course we left and do not recommend. The upside is we had a nice free view of the water for 25 minutes.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it
The food is mediocre at best. The prices are completely out of line with the quality. The valet fee after spending $250 for dinner for 2 is insulting. Do better
Be the first to ReplyGood food, nice space, and incredible views of downtown Miami
So the main thing about this restaurant is the panoramic view across the bay to downtown Miami, it's absolutely beautiful. We went for lunch on a weekday, and there were a lot of people sitting at outside tables and taking selfies of the view. We ate indoors, which shares the same view. You can also watch countless boats and jet-skiers go by, so it's very pleasant. The restaurant is located at the back of a marina, so you drive across the causeway to Key Biscayne, then through a crowded and maze-like marina parking lot. The restaurant has tons of free parking though, so no issues. Inside, it's modern decor, large windows featuring the view. The menu is good, wine list is good. Service is usually good, but this time it was slow for some odd reason. I think our waitress had other duties. We were in no hurry, so it didn't matter, and she comped our dessert without us even mentioning it, which was super nice. The price is a little high, but not outrageous. If you're looking for a beautiful venue with good food, I'd definitely recommend this place, and I would return for sure.

It has been a while and so happy we went. Beautiful place and great service from Isabel. The food all of it was so good. The drinks beautiful and very tasty. The view gorgeous. Great atmosphere. The prettiest drink I have ever had was there El Mariachi. We were 7 and all we had was spectacular.

One of my first times going to Rusty Pelican was in 1986. Last night I went back after many times but for the first time in a long time. The place was packed and I was not looking forward to dealing with the crows (Boat Show was in town). Our waitress, Valentina, was great as she made the experience wonderful. We were there nearly 3 hours and she never rushed us and was always availble to explain, offer advice and take care of all our needs. Great experience after all these years. Pleaseant, comfortable, easy in and out even though it was full. Thank you to management and Valentina.

We really enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant, my husband and I where celebrating our anniversary and Leandro made sure we have a wonderful time, he delivered a very good service. Also everything was on time and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyAll about the view
More about the view and not about the food. Everything was tasty but probably a better place to have a drink with a view instead of a full meal. Kind of overpriced.
Be the first to ReplyNot consistent
Not what it used to be I was there recently with a friend. We got stuck sitting at a table near the bar. First mistake. The noise was deafening and very noisy on top of the very loud music. Food is totally hit or miss and its expensive if the food was consistent. It has all happened the last 4 years before that we often went for the Sunday Brunch which was always great for many years. Yes the view of the sunset is consistently beautiful but if you want to have a nice dinner when you can actually hear your party forget it. In addtioan again the quality and taste of the food is inconsitent. Not what it used to be.

My new favorite place. Great food, drinks, staff and if you get to snag a table outside the view is amazing
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money
Service was good … hostess was less than average … food was good but not worth the money. 648$ Not worth that kind of money. Sad to say because we’ve been going there for over 20 years and we always loved it but now it’s just not worth it ….we were disappointed. ☹️
Be the first to ReplyRusty pelican a traditional gem in front of the city of Miami.
We arrived at the Rusty Pelican and were greeted by charming valets at the famous entrance of this very renowned restaurant. And yes, there is to greet us, a real rusty pelican at the entrance.
We had a little problem when entering the dining room, since we had to be at least half of the group to be assigned a table, something that Caesar-the assistant manager-resolved in the snap of a finger. He was very warm and attentive to us: a pearl, this man.
We were a group of six and took many plates as appetisers, including the shrimp cocktail, served on fuming dry ice, an unforgettable detail. We had for main course, mainly Surf and Turf (lobster tail and filet mignon steak) and an assortment of delicious and fancy side dishes, including salads, marsh potatoes, and fresh vegetables.
We were surprised to be waited in French, (our native language) in English, and in Spanish.
The deserts were delicious elaborate concoctions, if not a little heavy.
Half of the experience is the fantastic view from the giant windows unto the beautiful Miami at night, unparalleled and touristic. If you can ask for the exterior terrasse, a must. (We were inside and it was also ok.)
The bill was astronomical but, worth every penny. Perfect to show new comers to Florida, the very essence of the state, and particularly the Miami area.
Note: When we arrived, one of us had fell in the parking lot, slipping on the angled concrete cutter, and hurt his knee. Caesar, the assistant manager, provided first aid to us with bandages, disinfectant spray and moral support. Needless to say, the service was awesome.
On a scale of one to 10, I gave them 9,3.
(US$724,00 for six-€655,86) including the wine.
Come for the brunch DJ, stay for the bottomless mimosas. And you *know* you want the fruity pebbles pancakes.
The food was all excellent - The crabcakes Benedict were really good and much lighter than expected, the chicken and waffles scrummy [chef’s kiss]. The mimosas were outstanding - I think we finally gave up at four rounds? The service was attentive and friendly - Raysel did a great job taking care of us. And the Sunday morning DJ Ray Costa was a fun surprise, lending great vibes to the whole thing. We were really glad we made a reservation because that place was packed.
Be the first to ReplyFood, Ambience was Great! BUT…..
It was our moms 85+ birthday ( she hates to tell her age) but you get it- it was special. So, we selected a special place for lunch. We selected Rusty Pelican because it’s right on the water and you see the beautiful Miami skyline…
We called to inquire if reservations were needed but never got to speak to a “person” because the phone system is very automated. The website showed the peak hours so we stayed away from those , you can make reservations but it is not required.
When we got there for brunch, the young lady at the front was speaking to another staff member behind the desk there and we waited for “ them” to finish speaking to acknowledge us, 😳…. we asked for a table outside, she told us “ the outside is closed” so we reluctantly sat on the inside😩 ( I’ll tell you, I almost wanted to leave, I was that disappointed.).
As we ate, we saw new diners being led to the outside patio. 🤔🤔. Wait, I thought she said it was closed? Not wanting to make a fuss on our moms special day, we continued to eat. Maybe “ closed” meant something else.
The food was GREAT! The service -ok, the waiter did his usual order and check on us but I’ve been to many restaurants and I KNOW what great service looks and feels like. THIS wasn’t it folks….
The take away from this….
1. YES, absolutely go to this restaurant and experience the ambiance , the food and its presentation!!!
2. DO make reservations and plan to sit outside, after all, this IS THE MAIN reason to choose this location!!
And to the managers and staff at the Rusty Pelican, a place of business is only as great as the people who work there. Remember this. ❤️
