ROVI London Reviews from The Last Year
Bursting with flavour
Excellent food and service. Lovely lively atmosphere. Different flavours and textures. Highly recommend this restaurant
Good but ...
An enjoyable evening. Food looked great, staff were excellent and the general vibe was comfortable/relaxed. We felt some of the Ottolenghi-style dishes (esp celeriac and the wild river salad) had a little too much salt, others a little too much oil, and there could have had been greater consideration of the wonderful textures that the ingredients offered. Being a little critical ... some dishes were amazing but I think they could have done better with others.
The best Ottolenghi restaurant of all
Best Ottolenghi restaurant!!! Following a visit to Liverpool Street and Soho Nopi, we all agreed, that this one is the best. It's so cosy and welcoming, plus delicious food and drinks. Don't hesitate between the choices, as we wish we had known it earlier and would have had 2 meals here instead.
Great place
Delicious food and fantastic service. The waiters were friendly and helpful when it came to understanding things on the menu that I wasn’t quite sure of.
Fantastic flavours
Very beautiful and very tasty dishes in a modern but cozy interior. The staff is also very professional. We will definitely return next time we are in London
What a desappointment !
A fan of Ottolenghi's cuisine, having often tested it with friends, it's a big disappointment, 4 uncreative dishes, far from the dishes offered by SIMPLE. Certainly too much success pushes us to multiply the number of restaurants and therefore not really take care of them... Business is business but above all we must preserve the quality of the plate👎
Best in London
I think it's the best restaurant I've dined in for the past couple of years, and I do it often. I also love Ottolenghi's recipes. We thought their Soho restaurant Nopi was better, given all these publications, but they have proven us wrong. Not worth the hype, I'm telling you! This Ottolenghi restaurant is worth all the attention, and you can rely on well-sourced ingredients that reflect Yotam's cooking style. I was also impressed with the excellent pricing considering how much restaurants in London charge nowadays.
Great food with little atmosphere
Making a reservation in advance was relatively complicated and if you don't show up you have to pay £75 per person. There were three of us there and we were seated at a table for two. The coat rack was not removed and was placed above the bench. The table was very sparsely set and there was a constant draft. Overall the room is very bright and full. Many seats are at a bar or at high tables. The selection is rather limited. The main courses include one fish, one beef, one chicken, one duck and two vegetarian dishes. The price of the food is quite high for small portions that were quite tasty. Wine was also very expensive in 125 ml portions. We expected more and will not be coming back.
Best dining experience ever
After seeing ROVI in ‘Somebody feed Phil’ and their variety of vegetarian options, we chose here for my wife’s birthday. The staff were by far the best I have experienced in a long time, really knowledgeable about the food and took the time to make us feel comfortable at every interaction. We ordered and shared a selection of small plates. Everything was phenomenal. They have taken simple ingredients and with skill and panache created wonderful dishes. The celeriac shawarma, buratta, artichokes and leeks were brilliant all mopped up with the most wonderful pitta and sourdough. Everything was beautifully balanced and no flavour was overpowering. The cocktails and desert was just great, the branded ice in the negroni was a nice touch. What was really surprising was that given the quality of food, the ambiance and the service, it was really good value for money.
Great Dinner
We thouroughly enjoyed this dinner. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed the evening. It was a bit cramped in the restaurant though, many people and little space. We had the white beans, charged cabbage, celeriac taco, mixed veg grill and the whitefish with hummus. We will come back.
Interesting menu.
For me, overly self-conscious combinations. Personally, I'd rather have good, straightforward executions of good, straightforward dishes.

One of our favorite meals during this trip to London! We ordered quite a few of the dishes on the menu and loved all of them - the radicchio salad with the partridge was especially excellent and the pairing of kimchi with gruyère in the fritters was super tasty. Service was fantastic and we were surprised at the end of our meal with the fudge; we had not planned to order a dessert as we were quite full from the meal but we had to find a bit more room for the fudge which was delightful. Will definitely plan to visit Rovi again!

The kitchen burned down halfway through our dinner service, and we were all made to go to the sidewalk after sitting in the smoke for 30 minutes and my clothes smelling like a chimney. The staff did what they could, but very poor decision making by management to make everyone pay for all of their items, even if they were only half eaten/drunk. Do better Ottolenghi, you can afford to take care of your customers and treat them better than that. Very disappointed by the customer service and general lack of regard by management.
I must while visiting London.
The kimchi Gruyère fritters, celeriac shawarma, crispy pink fir potatoes and wolves lane tomatoes are a must. Great service and delicious food - every dish had "wow" and "mmm" factor. We had a late dinner so didn't get to try all the items. When I'm in town next, I want to the other items! Oh, the deconstructed mint chocolate ice cream sandwich was delicious too!
Really disappointed with this experience unfortunately.
Service issues from start to finish, and then sitting 20+ minutes between courses and no one checks on you. We were "comp'd " an appetizer and then it showed on our bill anyway. Food was also unfortunately pretty mediocre so I can't say that made up for it. If you happen to be visiting and have few precious meals to spend- I would skip this one.

Rovi, one of Yotam Ottolenghi's London restaurants, is a short walk from Oxford street. Though you'll have to brave the crowds to get there, the restaurant is well worth the trip (especially if you are on a plant based diet or if you're simply looking for a delicious meal without feeling awful after.) If you're a fan, the restaurant offers signed cookbooks and other merchandise. If you're just looking for a nice dinner, the room is dimly lit, beautiful, and far quieter than the chaos a few blocks away. The drinks were amazing, the service was great, but the highlight should be on the food. Yotam Ottolenghi's recipes are famous around the world for a reason. We got three plant based dishes and one meat dish. Simply put, I don't understand how they managed to make vegetables taste so darn good. Each onion, pepper, spice and garnish felt intentional. Rovi was exceptional.

I got the celeriac shawarma sandwich, which wins its prize for being one of the best things I ever put in my mouth - really. It was phenomenal, amazingly soft, and just gave a huge amount great amount of flavor. I wouldn't be able to put it into words. If you're coming to ROVI, please do yourself a favor and order the shawarma!
