Almost perfect
Wish I could give more than 4 stars - cannot based on my experience. The good - great front of the house on an extremely busy Wednesday 8 PM, got seated promptly. The quality of the food was AMAZING. The bread - sourdough and focaccia - excellent. The tequila cocktail was Ok - wish it was less sweet. The park skewers, carpaccio and the salad were excellent. The main - Wagyu ribeye needs to be served anything but near raw. The quality of Wagyu was better than the other Michelin star in Tampa when it's on their menu. The service was lacking at the kitchen level - long pause/s. Our server was great, somehow don't remember being asked on the cook on the Wagyu - would not have mattered, I go with chef's recommendation. When I visit again, I will be proactive, This was my third visit - other two were prior to them having the star. Solid place. Would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyMisleading with Michelin quality
Misleading people with Michellin quality . Feels like at grandma dinnerly. Bread ($6) was to salty and buttery. Carpaccio was so-so, nothing especially . When you order meal remember they share it with all people on the table . We ordered veal ravioli ( no meat inside at all , just spinach and cheese) and veal shank ( they share it also), sauce is bad , everything SOUR, no good taste . There are much better restaurants in Tampa . We won’t go back and don’t recommend to our friends .

Rocca absolutely merits its Michelin star rating. Started off with the mozzarella cart, where they make the cheese fresh at your tableside - aside from the entertaining show of this process, the end result is an absolutely delicious caprese salad. The agnolotti with spicy pork and ricotta filling was the best pasta dish I've had in decades, no exaggeration. The spaghetti with blue crab and lemon sauce was light and refreshing, with a very generous amount of crab. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I can wholeheartedly recommend Rocca without hesitation!
Be the first to ReplySalty food ruins the experience
The whole experience at Rocca was underwhelming and disappointing. Still, the quality of food was superior than most local restaurants. We ordered one pasta dish, the tortello, and it was excellent. The branzino was very salty but the spices and seasoning were very good. Too much salt ruined the experience. Ambience was pretty average. It felt crowded and noisy. Staff and service were also very average.
Be the first to ReplyMaybe the most pleasant fine dining experience we have had.
A colleague from Tampa recommended Rocca and I plan to email her a big Thank You! The entire experience was delightful (other than getting a parking ticket). The food was spectacular and our waiter (Taylor) was top notch, as were all the serving staff. We love the atmosphere/ambience. Taylor was a sommelier in training and helped us select a lovely wine to enjoy with dinner. He also recommended various dishes on the menu and explained how they were made from the bread to the shiitake mushroom wraps. Parking is a challenge, however. The ParkMobile app is required unless you pay at the machine on the curb (which wasn't working). We couldn't get the app to work for us either so we risked it and lost - $30. I'm going to appeal it). A wonderful evening overall!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience
Spectacular service and dishes. The table side mozzarella is a treat but best for a group of 3 or more. We had a family of 5 and all the dishes were all well prepared. We normally do not order desserts but made an exception here and really glad we did. Few desserts top the pistachio gelato. Highly recommend giving Rocco a try, but make sure you have a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, smaller portions but enough
Overall great food. The table side Mozarella is not to be missed. Smaller servings but equally tasty. We tried everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. The wine list was stellar and the sommelier was a great help.
Be the first to ReplyRocca continues to get it right!
Rocca continues to deliver, we booked the Oficina (table in the kitchen) for my husbands birthday and it’s always such a great and unique experience. We had 7 people in our party, but the table seats up to 8. Love the new appetizers on the menu right now, the fancy prosciutto and melon is a current favorite (it has an Italian name that IDR but choose the one with melon in the description haha). The little gem salad was a crowd favorite of course. Agnolotti is our personal favorite pasta, we also love the Ragu and the Tortello. The duck is the best duck we have ever had, and you’d be better off never ordering it because it will ruin all other duck for you - JK - order it, it’s worth never having duck anywhere else. The bombolini dessert was our fav but it’s not on the menu right now, hoping they bring that back. The basil custard is a light and lovely option!
Be the first to ReplySuperb start to finish
Rocca is superb. From start to finish, there were no disappointments in any of the dishes we tried. There were some major surprises - in a good way. The mozzarella is a must and hits like no other. We tried the new eggplant and cucumber appetizer and I wasn’t super excited. Holy cow! It was incredible. From old faves to new items, every bite was awesome. Had to end with the burnt cheesecake which is so so good. Service was great, it’s friendly and warm which I enjoy. Another great meal there.

Had dinner here twice, and both times were wow experiences, The food and service are both done perfectly. the atmosphere is also fun and energetic. make reservations several weeks in advance. will have to keep going back so we have everything on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyBuzzy Bliss
My husband & I have decided to eat our way through all the Michelin-recognized restaurants in Tampa. In the process we've learned to tolerate a high-noise level universally described as "buzzy". Many times the volume of "buzz" has overshadowed our ability to enjoy our food. So SO not the case here where the "buzz" only enhances the over-all experience. Many have written about the perfection of the pasta - it was. And the desserts - ah yes so good. Wine list has an interesting selection of "by the glass" Italian wines. But what completely hit it out of the park for us was the knowledgeable service. On a busy night, where he was also balancing a VIP table, David was attentive without being intrusive, informative without pandering, and genuinely interested in our reactions to our meal. Completely satisfying experience and well worth the hype.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t Bother, Tampa has Better Food and Service
We tried to celebrate our 32nd Anniversary at Rocca after so many people recommended it to my husband. But this is definitely not a place for a celebration or personalized service. I am gluten free for health reasons and my husband confirmed ahead of time it would not be an issue for the restaurant. After arriving we quickly learned that Rocca cannot accommodate gluten free diners. They do not have a GF menu, any notations (or even descriptions) on the menu, or any kind of allergy listing. They claimed on the phone they have GF options, but not really. As we were being seated, the hostess told me "we definitely have options for you, your server can let you know what's gluten free - but avoid the GF pasta since it is all cooked in the same water." The server was awful, he was flustered and agitated, asked me personal questions, made me feel unwelcome and high-maintenance, and kept saying they could not accommodate me and nothing was gluten free. I really wanted to just leave, and should have. We finally determined the mozzarella cart was safe (it was good) and the fish was GF (huge, very expensive $70+ and meant to share.) The entire experience was awful and even though they had been told we were celebrating our 32nd anniversary, not one person acknowledged the event. We won’t be going back.
Be the first to ReplyCome hungry, leave happy!
INCREDIBLE. This scratch made Italian kitchen means all of the breads and pastas are made in house. From the cocktails and service, to the pastas, breads and perfectly cooked steak, we loved our anniversary dinner @ Rocca. Highly recommend the mozzarella cart, literally any of the pasta but we loved the tortello and the ragu the most, the duck (call ahead to reserve the duck if you want it! Limited qty available!), the steak, and if you like fois gras even a little bit be sure to get the pate - it was maybe my favorite, most unexpected part of the meal.

So my friend lives in Tampa and he told me we had to try their homemade Mozzarella. Well...it was delicious, but so was everything else. I think this meal took me 5 days to digest! The verdict is still out if it was worth it. I enjoyed the spaghetti with shrimp as well, the bread basket, and the duck! We ended with the Burnt Cheesecake, my friend loved it but I prefer a creamy NY style. Either way, this place was great. Impossible to get a reservation, but you can go and eat at the bar, and that's just what we did!
Be the first to ReplyMissing the Mark
We found the atmosphere very nice with a great vibe - energetic and it felt good. The sommelier was knowledgeable and suggested a really good Ripasso for our meal. The food - We found the selection to be far too limited in both the number and diversity of the dishes offered. It definitely affected our party negatively. The appetizers were ok, the Veal Arosticini (little veal meatballs on a skewer with a marsala glaze) was good, but the homemade mozzarella cart that we heard so much about was just ok. The heirloom tomatoes on the dish were great, but the cheese was really bland and a bit rubbery. This makes a good show, with someone preparing it tableside, however, we prefer a nice burrata over this preparation. I had the Mezze Rigatoni all' Amatriciana, and it was just ok. The pasta (in fact the pasta on all our dishes) was cooked far too al dente for all of our tastes. This is a Roman dish, and I've had it at The Hassler the year theirs was voted number one in Roma, and this didn't even come close. In Rome, they cook all their pasta al dente, but this was more al dente than that. When we asked our server if, upon a return visit, we requested our pasta be cooked up a bit more, he laughed and said that would never happen as the chef would not change anything about this dish. Very sad to hear this as, after all, I feel that the role of a chef is to prepare food that his guests enjoy eating. A chef that won't make minor changes to a dish (not the flavor or seasoning - just the way the pasta was cooked) is certainly not what we're used to. Another person in our party had the Tagliolini al Ragu, and it was good, but nothing great. Lastly, another person had the Agnolotti and it was really just a one-note dish. There were no discernable layers of flavors in this dish and frankly, the presentation was very lackluster and unimaginative. They had three types of meat on the entire menu, and they were priced higher than almost any fine steakhouse or seafood restaurant in Tampa. They had a Branzino that was $72, a prime NY Strip for $82, and get this, a duck for $111. I'll pay for good food, but a piece of Mediterranean Sea Bass for $72 - really? Overall I give it a 3.5 on a scale of 5 and a 7 on a scale of 10. Good atmosphere, nice staff, selection, poor, food, just ok.
Be the first to ReplyAlways Amazing!
We keep coming back to Rocca! The service is professional and friendly. The food is flavourful and rich, yet light enough to not make you feel weighed down. Beautifully presented dishes, and cocktails are lovely. The chefs here definitely know how to prepare foie gras perfectly. We always order the duck and the mozzarella and tomato salad. You can’t go there without ordering this salad. It’s made right at your table, it’s one of the highlights of dining there. Our sommelier has a vast knowledge of wine. We had a gentleman named Justin to took care of us this evening, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great donning experience, he is outstanding. Always such a treat coming here!

Be the first to ReplyA taste of Italy in Tampa
What a wonderful experience. The best Italian food I have had since growing up an Italian neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
I visited with my Wife yesterday; It was not busy at all; it was early(around 6 pm), which can not justify the poor results. The food was well presented, and the service was very acceptable, but in the end, a good restaurant is measured by the spoon. We ordered pasta; both came either tasteless or way out of point.
Good place for tourists since the mozzarella show was fun, the bread was excellent, and Lamb Arrosticinni. We returned the plates almost untouched. Regarding desserts, well, we did not dare to try them.
High quality. High service. High prices.
Rocca is very high priced, by Tampa standards. Think $32.00 appetizers and $46.00 pasta.
However, the exquisite service and delicious food make you forget what the hot will be on your wallet.
From the moment we walked in, we were treated to the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. Water glasses were always filled. Silverware was replaced between each course. The table side mozzarella preparation was both food and a show!
That mozzarella is Rocca’s signature dish, even though it is an appetizer ($32). It was served with fresh tomatoes and basalmic vinegar. It was big enough to provide appetizers for six of us and was absolutely superb.
Truffle topped pasta and steak were also amazing dishes.
Rocca also has a comprehensive wine list with a sommelier to help offer pairing suggestions.
This was a very expensive restaurant. $700, for six people, including three bottles of wine.
However, we had a wonderful time. Rocca is a perfect spot for celebrations.
Good Food and Service
Service was very good. Flavors of food was very good. Major problem for me, was the lack of compliance with CDC health recommendations. Management, staff & servers did not wear facial mask/cover. Due to noise level in restaurant, the server consistently was getting in our faces to take our orders and chat. One young worker was asked if he had been vaccinated. His response was that he was not allowed to say and if we had any additional questions we needed to speak to management. I personally would have left, but took a chance and stayed since we were part of a small group and didn't want to ruin the evening for everyone. Won't be back anytime soon. It's unfortunate.
Be the first to Replynuovo italiano
Rocca is a prime example of a hidden gem that could easily be overlooked if not careful, but if you're in the know, rewards you with some of the best contemporary Italian on offer that I've come across, anywhere. Chef Bryce Bonsack's focused attention to delivering elevated Italian in a slightly non-traditional construct, yet immediately familiar and approachable, strikes the perfect chord. The menu, changing monthly, has kept me anxiously awaiting news of new releases, poised to make the 1.5 hour drive from Orlando simply for a dinner reservation. Equally comforting as the cuisine has been the ongoing and warm reception at each visit by General Manager and acting Sommelier, Andrew Harris. It's evident that he and his team share the passion and vision set forth by the restaurant's humble (read: talented, but lets the food do the talking) chef. The service delivered echos that of the food on offer; consistent and old-school in that the occasion feels special and "high-end", yet informally relaxed and trend-setting. There's a reason a reservation can be tough to come by, here. Do yourself a favor; be patient and don't sleep on this gem... book now, and perhaps a visit into the following month (new menu!), just to be safe. Trust me, you'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy Atmosphere and Scratch Style Italian Kitchen
Located literally directly across from Armature Works and below the apartments. As you enter, you are greeted with high ceilings (it can get a bit noisy when crowded) and an open dining experience with the bar seating located toward the rear of the dinning area.
The concept is a fresh scratch kitchen so the menu items may change from time to time but all fresh daily. Portions are in line with "European" size. The entre of TAGLIOLINI al RAGU (beef ragu, basil, parmigiano) was rich tasting and savory. The fresh pasta was delicious and cooked perfectly (slight al dente) . Another patron ordered the TORTELLO all’ UOVO egg yolk center, ricotta filling, roasted and shaved mushrooms and it was also very rich with abundant flyovers.
They have an expansive wine list and craft artesian style cocktails.
This place gets crowded and is popular so reservations are highly recommended even on "off" nights..
Unpretentious Deliciousness!
You will order food. And you will devour it. You will leave and say that it was one of the best Italian restaurants you ever visited in your life.
I am not exaggerating. Tampa has something special. Don't miss it.
