When I lived in Kansas City many years back, there were a number of places that "felt" like this and had that same sort, of "secret" feel to them. Take a break from the energetic frenzy of Broadway, make a reservation at the Red Phone Booth, and experience something unique and different. We grabbed the number from the concierge at our hotel and made our way here early one night before heading out to the 'scene' of Broadway. It was a perfect way to start the evening. The food was excellent, just like all the reviews told us they would be and we both enjoyed our drinks. I'm not a huge fan of cigars, so we went early before it got "too stinky" for my liking and I'm glad we did. Initially when we walked in, we were seated at a small table by the door because we did not have a reservation. It was SUPER dark and the server saw us "struggling" to read the drink menu. He kindly moved us to the back area which had much better lighting and more cozy seating. So, my first important tip, MAKE A RESERVATION and request seating in a better lit area or in a cozy booth. Order a pizza. They are fantastic. We also had the meatball sliders with it - outstanding. I saw a few reviews where they felt like it was pricey. Drinking at the bars on Broadway are pricey ($7 for a Bud Light). Everything in Nashville is pricey. I honestly felt like the quality of the drink far outweighed the cost and it wasn't that pricey at all - I think $13 for a cocktail. I'd go back for sure.
