What distinguishes a place as one of my favorite restaurants vs a really good meal is when I think back on the experience often, and with joy. During the height of the pandemic, we were ordering takeout from a new spot once a week, and I just couldn't stop thinking about the meal we got from Queen's English. It took me almost a year to come back for dine in, but I can now confirm... Queens English is such a special place! It has the cozy, joyful energy of your best neighborhood spot and the food is creative and delicious! We ordered just about the entire menu for our party of 5! I've got a run down of everything below, for those who want it. I also really loved my hidden dragon cocktail (think negroni meets sazerac!).Beyond the food, everyone there is so delightful. It seems like they truly love the place and the community, and you can feel it. We'll definitely be back, I only wish this were in my neighborhood!-Jelly fish & beef tongue: How could I resist! Very spicy and definitely unique. A must for the most adventurous eater.- Rice roasts with uni and salmon roe (an off menu special) - favorite thing I ate all night!-Oyster: Fine, but would probably pass next time,-House made tofu: Yum. More like a soup (and a very delicious one!)-Mushroom egg noodles: Honestly, I liked their shrimp pin noodles better... but these were good! Note: You can order a vegetarian version.-Daikon fritters: Very yummy. Note: You can order a vegetarian version without the pork.-Duck drumlettes: Good, not a standout - go for the squab.-Foie gras dumplings: Not my thing (too all spicy for me) but others liked them-Nasturtiam cress, snow pea leaves - loved both of these, and having lots of greens to balance out the heavier dishes-Whole crispy fish: Bomb.com - some how they debone it, and still present it fully in tact. Unlike some of the dry crispy fishes I've had, this one is moist and incredibly well seasoned, served atop a bed of bok choy and with a side of rice. -Squab: We didn't order this, but they brought it (and charged us for it) - I wasn't mad, because it was one of the highlights of the meal for me. Very, very tasty.
