15-20 mins between dish.
I almost feel asleep waiting. The food was alright though. But I won't recommend this place.

What an absolutely fantastic dinner! Made reservations for a Friday night. We were seated promptly and the service was amazing from the get go. We started with a round of cocktails and decided to order from the a la carte menu instead of the tasting menu this time. We just liked the options better. The drinks were creative and flavorful. The presentation was mediocre though. The mix of flavors and textures in all the dishes was an art form. Not usually a fan of beets, but the dip was surprisingly tasty. The tempura elotes were crunchy, crispy and presented beautifully. The sweet potato chaat was my least favorite item. For a tapa that has sweet potato in the name, we could barely taste the sweet potato. The dish also might have sat in the kitchen for a few because the puffed rice was a little soggy under the yogurt. The seared scallops were arguably the best item. The broth was flavorful but subtle and I'll be craving it forever. The scallops were perfectly cooked as well and the green mango salsa on top added the perfect tartness. The steak was unfortunately pretty standard. It lacked the flavors described in the menu but it was cooked as requested. Probably wouldn't order this one again only because of the other choices. The paneer tikka was exquisite! The flavors in the marination mixed with the sauce underneath made it one of our top favorite dishes. It was also grilled perfectly so the edges were charred and the inside was still soft and creamy. We ended the meal with the mandarin mochi chocolate cake. This was a miss for me. The cake was a bit dry and very dense and the mandarin black sesame mocha was mainly orange sherbet with a whipped topping. Now normally we love black sesame flavor but it was too overpowering even with the mandarin flavor. Just didn't balance out. Overall; between the service and the food it was such a fantastic experience and I cannot wait to go back!

Restaurant & Service: this is a beautiful, modern restaurant with a welcoming staff and vibe. Gorgeous ambience without being stuffy. The host and server were very helpful and attentive, offering great advice on plates to try. Food:There are two menu options: a la carte (what we did- small plates to share) or a chefs menu (4 course meal). We ordered 6 dishes:All food was beautifully presented - Tempura Elotes - so so good. Crispy dish with great flavors in each bite. - Banh Khot - this was good but probably my least favorite of the great items we had. Still good, but a little trickier to eat with the cups. - Coal Roasted Sea Scallops - good sized scallops in a flavorful sauce- Steamed Coconut Curry Custard - was surprised with the healthy amount of crab in this dish! Delightful!- Waygu Beef Cheek - very tender beef, loved the presentation of the rice in a leaf to the side, has a spicy kick!- Adobo Grilled Octopus- this was a great medley of flavors and tastes.
Be the first to ReplyCame in for a work dinner, and it was such a nice ambiance.
It wasn't too loud, so you could hear at least your side of the table, and the service was very attentive without being overbearing. We ordered 2 of each dish, and each side of the table finished nearly everything. Prepared well and flavorful. I believe the menu changes, but nothing we had was disappointing, so I can't wait to go back and try a new menu!
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed the tasting menu here.
It was great to be able to share many dishes, increasing the number of tastes. A great experience, a beautiful restaurant and impressive service.

Loved how extensive this menu was! Had great vegetarian options as well and the Indian dishes tasted very authentic. Absolutely loved the paneer kofta and the elote tempura!

I teetered back and forth a bit deciding between a 3 or 4 star review for Proxi. Ultimately, the flavors and dishes called for the lower choice. I think it's fair to state we had a true 3.5/5 star experience. I will start by stating that the service was excellent and the cocktails were delicious throughout the night. However, Proxi did not shine through where we expecting-the food was just ok.We love our Chicago cuisine and if we're going to spend $150 a person, we expect flavors that wow and dishes that leave us craving more. Unfortunately, we really did not get that Proxi. Let me break it down for you...There were some dishes we enjoyed. The tempura elotes did live up to the hype and the roasted potatoes were my favorite bite of the night. We also enjoyed the crab noodles and skirt steak. If I had to come back, this would be my order. We felt the other appetizers we started with were a bit of a letdown. The hawaiian bread was far too dry, the banh khot was not served warm enough, and the sweet potato chaat was just fine. The main dishes we ordered felt like they lacked seasoning. The lentil dumplings were dry and the crab coconut custard was not doing it for me. We did enjoy the green marshmallow that came in the s'mores order. However, you only got one of those per person so we had to savor it. The s'mores was great, but a bit of a stretch for $40 ($10 per person).

Came here for Restaurant Week with a few coworkers and was blown away! Every dish was delectable. A few things we ordered:- Sweet potato chaat- a must!!! - Grilled Thai sour sausage- I normally don't like sausage, but this one was so tasty and grilled to perfection-Salmon- yum- Tres leches cake- a cloud-like, light and airy dream!! Such a great sampling of dishes from around the world, and perfectly well done.

Went back for restaurant week this year, and was still incredible! The food is always changing, even on the main menu, so I love experiencing the new flavors each time! We did the wine pairing, which was also really great for the price point (4 almost full pours of wine for $39). The service was overall good and the ambiance is always on point!

We were here for restaurant week, which was great to enjoy so many small plates. Would certainly come back and try popular dishes off the regular menu. The server was new, so he wasn't great at recommendations or describing the food (bc he hadn't sampled any - which is unfortunate for customers).
Be the first to ReplyThis was just an odd experience.
The food was fine, the poached salmon especially was a hit. Everything else, yes, good, but...Weird service. We ordered our cocktails at the same time but one came about 10 minutes after the other. (And the one we waited on was whiskey neat, literally just pouring whiskey into a glass and still it took way too long.)We ordered the chef's menu so plates and silverware were pulled after each course. But one course came with no silverware and the server just walked away. We had to flag down a bus person. Then during dessert, while we're still eating, the server dropped the check on our table. Same kind of move you get at a busy diner on a weekend morning. But the restaurant wasn't crowded and there wasn't a wait. The server didn't ask if we wanted coffee, after-dinner drink, or anything like that.Like I said, the food was fine but nothing truly exceptional. Considering the location and the service we received, I don't see a reason to go back.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely great restaurant.
Food was creative, interesting and great, all at the same time. Pricing was inexpensive for what you get.

I've been to Proxi twice this year and have had a great experience both times. My introduction to Proxi was their restaurant week menu (a good deal!) in April. I'm a sucker for any type of menu that allows you to try multiple items, so I loved the variety on the restaurant week menu, even though, as a vegetarian, there were several items I couldn't eat. My favorite dish was a Salt & Pepper Tofu that didn't look like anything special -- but tasted amazing and had a perfect consistency. I also appreciated that the restaurant was able to bring out a vegetarian version of the dumplings for me once I notified them about my diet! The main, Spiced Lentil Dumplings, was a tad too salty for me, but overall I was impressed with the food I tried. Drinks were fantastic (nearly everyone at the table ordered two because we were all so impressed) and desserts were incredible. On my second visit, I continued to be impressed with Proxi. In April, our party of 5 sat in a curved booth, which felt very private and conducive to a conversation. On our return visit, with another party of 5, we were seated in the main dining area at a table that was just a little bit too large that, combined with the ambient noise, made it hard to have a conversation across the table. Again, we were impressed with drinks. As the tasting menu at the time did not seem very veggie friendly, we opted to order off the regular menu, and I ended up ordering two dishes for myself so the meat eaters could split everything else. Both of my dishes were good, though not the best food I've ever had. The Tater Tot Chaat was interesting and flavorful, and I was happy with the Wood Grilled Paneer Tikka. Two dishes was about the right amount of food for me, and I still had room for dessert. We ordered one of each of the desserts and enjoyed all of them; the Horchata Flan was my favorite.

Can I leave ten stars?! This was a culinary experienceeee! Sit at the chefs table overlooking the kitchen so you can watch all the magic happen. I ordered the chefs tasting menu which just meant I got to try 7-8 different. Check out the photos! I would absolutely go back!

Really enjoyed doing the $65/p chef's menu course here! You can expect to come out feeling pretty full because you get 3 courses and a dessert included. I would recommend coming w/ a friend and ordering different things so you can try a variety of dishes. It's also pretty fun trying to guess the regions of the dishes together! We really enjoyed the king salmon salad, crab, yellow curry, and pork tenderloin. I didn't like the desserts as much, but I loved that they were included in the meal cost. Definitely not the cheapest meal but was a very cool experience!
Be the first to ReplyEverything we tried was delicious.
My personal favs were: Bahn Khot-good balance between flavors (meaty pork belly and sweet sour pickle juice) and texture (crispy base and chewiness from shrimps). They are small bites of pure delight. Black cod-broth and rice base was rich and tasty-great complement to the tender fish. and Lamb kofta-I simply love lamb. Only regret for me was ordering all 4 desserts instead of another main dish. Although some dessert flavors were creative (for example, CURRY flavor sundae), they were overall a bit too sweet for me.
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed dinner here on a Saturday evening.
We decided to order a la carte and ended up ordering 7 plates for the two of us because there we a lot of things we wanted to try. We probably only needed about 5 dishes to feel satiated but I'm glad we ordered all 7 because they were all phenomenal. Some of our favorites were the roasted carrot dip (yes, surprising, I know), the scallop ceviche and the pork belly. Some plates are smaller than others (octopus and scallops for example). The meat plates were a pretty good size. Service was great, attentive, they changed plates and flatware when necessary. The cocktails were eh, nothing special, so maybe just stick with wine. Overall great experience and would for sure come again.
Be the first to ReplyHands down the most delicious + best deal for RW 2022.
The salt & pepper tofu was perfectly crispy, and the braised lamb dumplings were flavorful + not too game-y. The shrimp toast was definitely an interesting concept but still good. The 'seafood hot pot' was essentially soondubu, and quite on point, considering Proxi is not a Korean-specific restaurant. Pork tenderloins were cooked just right. The mango kulfi was exceptional as well.Only thing was the servers were a little too eager/quick to take away our plates, but overall a wonderful experience!

I enjoyed Sepia, and love Andrew Zimmerman cooking at a couple other pre-pandamic events, so I guess I have high expectation of Proxi. But it's underwhelming honestly. The beverage selection was great, except I don't understand why the tea comes in such small cup that the tea bag filled more than half of the capacity. The food is pricey for the portion (e.g 1 short tentacle for the octopus dish). I guess it's the inflation. LOL. I wouldn't mind it if the execution is something out of ordinary and unexpected, but they are not. Everything was just in line with how they supposed to taste (rendang tasted like rendang while the coconut rice was on the drier side somehow. That made me think that it wasn't made/steamed in the leaves it was wrapped in). Perhaps I am familiar with asian food so there is really no surprise, except the Green Curry Icecream which I thought was exceptional. There are some good asian restaurants nearby, I don't see reasons of going back.

Wow, this place surprised me! I normally am apprehensive about fusion food, especially in trendy restaurants. However, the dishes we ordered were a lot more flavorful and enjoyable than I expected! Portions are small for the price. We tried the duck egg rolls, paneer tikka, cod, octopus, Indonesian chili chicken, and pork belly. I would skip the egg rolls and the paneer - decent, but nothing too notable and expensive. The cod and chili chicken were our favorites. I'd be interested in coming back to try more of their dishes!

As a person with dietary restrictions due religious reasons, all I can say is DO NOT COME HERE. I have never felt as unwelcome as I have here. I was very upfront about my restrictions, however, the way the chef handled the situation was quite inappropriate - "what else..." is the response I received when asked a question about a dish. The food was amazing up until the moment where I deviated from the menu. I would never recommend anyone with any dietary restriction to go to Proxi because they are condescending and outright disrespectful towards religious views. This is the second time I have felt this way at this restaurant.

Went here for restaurant week! The salad dressing of the Thai salad was AMAZING, loved the crispy tofu, coal roasted mussels, and dessert, esp the complementary purple sorbet (unsure what it was exactly). The steak for the ssambap wasn't warm which kinda threw us off and the shrimp toast was a little too salty and not crispy as "toast" suggests... otherwise I'd given it a higher rating!Ambiance was cozy yet sophisticated and they played great music!

The ambiance is beautiful and so was every employee that I came in contact with. Their demeanor was excellent and complimented the entire dining experience. The items below are from the restaurant week menu. The other courses were just as delicious as the main entree and dessert. Dessert was absolutely divine. FYI mango is life (IYKYK)!

Went for restaurant week and it was alright! I enjoyed the appetizer courses more than the main. The one thing I will say was that the service was quite slow, but that was probably due to the RW rush. I'd probably go again for drinks as the vibe was quite nice!
Be the first to ReplyAll I can say is, yikes.
Not one staff member knew what they were talking about re: dietary restrictions and the menu. We were there for 3+ hours because the food service was so slow. No one came around to refill our water nor did they leave a bottle of water at the table for us to refill for ourselves, and after every course they left the dirty dishes on our table to pile up.
