PRESS Restaurant St. Helena Reviews from The Last Year
Great food and atmosphere! Love the high ceilings and the
Great food and atmosphere! Love the high ceilings and the giant fireplace. Did not love the fact that we were seated closest to the front door. So every time the door opened and closed, cold air would blow onto our table. It definitely detracted from the experience substantially. We asked to be moved and the restaurant was not able to accommodate. We did the 5 course tasting menu for $160 pp. My first 3 courses were amazing - absolutely loved the abalone with flowering wasabi and spring pea panna cotta. Was disappointed in the 21 day aged rib eye with $25 supplement. It didn't come out very hot, so I could already see the fat marbling cooling. It was a bit chewier than I would have preferred for medium rare.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at PRESS, and it was one of the most exceptional meals we've ever had. We ordered the tasting menu with the beverage pairing, and each and every course was thoughtful, delicious, and perfectly paired. Our waiter was not only attentive, but hilarious, and we also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, JC, who cared deeply about our experience. Knowing that we had just completed a wine certification course we'd been studying for for about six months, JC surprised us with a complimentary champagne for me and a cocktail for my husband so we could take a moment to celebrate before beginning our meal. The meal itself was exceptional. 9 courses, with so many standouts. To name a few, we loved the canapés, the salmon skin with caviar, the celery root soup, and the most delicious ricotta gnudi with white truffles, and of course, the scallop / lobster course. (The lobster is the optional add-on to the scallop course, so I ordered that so we could each try both.) We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting Christopher, our Sommelier, who walked us through each pairing and indulged even the nerdiest of our wine questions. One of our great delights in this pairing was the sake course, and we were also very pleasantly surprised with a beer pairing. This pairing is a refreshing and creative take on a traditional wine pairing, and it absolutely elevated our meal. PRESS is a beautiful space, and turned out to be the perfect place for us to celebrate a milestone in our ongoing wine education journey. Gorgeous meal. Incredible staff. Heartfelt thank you to JC, to our waiter, to Christopher the talented Somm and to the entire staff for a meal we won't forget. We'll be back as soon as we can get up to Napa again soon.
Beautiful inside and out, the ambiance was amazing.
Came in without reservation was welcomed with a smile and seat by the bar. Had the tasting menu food was spectacular. Made reservations to come back can't wait!

Came with a group of wine enthusiats and we were really looking forward to a good experience. The best part was the place - beautifully set and ambiance was great especially for a Wednesday night. The worst was the service- far from a Michelin experience and outright unprofessional. Took them a while to take our wine order and our bottles arrived completely out of sync with food. We didn't have our first glass of white until our second course. Food was rushed and courses came out too quickly one following the other. We didn't even finish half our wine when dessert was served. Two of us have ciliac disease and our waiter wrote that down in his notebook when we ordered. But when my beef tartar dish came it had wheat puffs with it that I'm glad I questioned because I'd have been very sick if I ate them. The food itself was underwhelming. Wine was way overpriced and it was difficult to find bottles below $1000. I've dined at many Michelin starred restaurants and this is as disappointed as I've ever been.
This meal was impeccable.
Service was perfect. Great Somm. Food was very delicately prepared and it was all about the flavors. My fave was the beef tartare. The others at the table loved the gnudi with truffles. We preferred the 4 course tasting because it gave you time to experience the dishes.
I've been wanting to stop here for sometime now anytime I'm
I've been wanting to stop here for sometime now anytime I'm in town, and I've finally managed to do just that with a little time to spare before my reservations at a nearby winery. I walked in with no reservations but they happily offered me a seat at the bar. I was able to try a few drinks recommended by the bartender but the Up River was by far my favorite, perfectly sweet and Smokey. Before stopping by I would say that I was very eager to try the pig ears that everyone raves about but I felt like it was cold and very underwhelming. Not a complete fan of the food I tried, maybe I came in with super high expectations as we sometimes do when dinning at a Michelin-Starred restaurant or my choices tonight just weren't the best but I did enjoy the ambiance and the drinks. Can't wait to come back and fall in love with a food item. Oh and let's not forget the playlist this night...*chefs kiss* I did not want to leave.
Would not recommend.
Restaurant was lovely, food was okay, but our server was very intrusive for some reason. Master sommelier was very helpful. Surprised to know it’s a one star Michelin restaurant. Would not recommend.
An absolute gem in Napa Valley.
PRESS offers fantastic service, incredible food, and delicious cocktails. Their bartender Jared went above and beyond to curate special cocktails to pair with our dinner, and their manager JC was embodied hospitality and made sure our evening went perfectly. With a town full of Michelin restaurants and fine dining establishments, this location is unparalleled in its experience. Thank you for a fantastic night, and I truly look forward to coming back again soon.
My first time to dine at Press last night, and everything
My first time to dine at Press last night, and everything was superb! And by everything, I mean the atmosphere, the knowledgeable staff, and the divine food. My favorite dish of the night was the duck, it was cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth with the best red wine reduction I've ever had in my life. Thank you for hosting us Chef Philip and Press staff. You truly are an example of the best Napa Valley has to offer!!!
Absolutely amazing worth the hype every review and it's
Absolutely amazing worth the hype every review and it's Michelin Star rating! Every bite full of flavor. The pre fix 4 course share plates is the way to go. This is a must visit!
This is a solid fine-dining spot that hits all the right
This is a solid fine-dining spot that hits all the right notes you'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant in Northern California wine country. I had the tasting menu, which had some outstanding dishes (the fruits de mer and the cod). Yet I left feeling indifferent. Nothing was wrong - it's a really good restaurant. But nothing felt memorable. I enjoyed the meal, but it wasn't a destination. It all feels great in the moment, but it just doesn't last. Service is actually very good, and the building itself is beautiful. And I wish I'd ordered from the regular menu - too much of the tasting menu was just fine.
Press Review
While our dinner was nice and the food was good, there wasn't a specific memorable dish. We had a nice evening and enjoyed our meal but the vibe was similar to other restaurants in Napa/Bay Area and did not seem to compare to other 1 star Michelin restaurants we have eaten at in other countries (Spain, France, Croatia).
Service staff great but food nowhere near Michelin quality
Can’t fault the service and staff, very professional. However, for a one starred Michelin restaurant the food was significantly below par. Some of the dishes were okay (eg the chips and dip and pigs ears) but the main courses and deserts were a disappointment. The steak was way too salty, chewy and burnt around the edges. Plus the beef tartare portion was too big and chicken was too soft, felt like a marathon trying to finish it. The deserts did not have much flavour and were forgettable, so much so I can’t remember what we even had. This was absolutely not worth the price and we’d recommend looking elsewhere for fine dining in Napa.
Underwhelmed
Would have been underwhelmed if this was not a Michelin Star restaurant. Service was mediocre (wine spilled on table, plates removed at different times for table of four, check taken before we left table, dishes not explained as served, etc). Food was mediocre (except for pig’s ears which was the only memorable dish, 100 dollar upcharge steak was tough and served cold and had obviously sat waiting to be delivered from their chaotic kitchen, flavors in general were uninspired). Wine recommendations were 1 out of 2 in terms of meeting the profile described - a $120 dollar Rose that tasted like box wine followed by a very good Cab that was worth the money and met the flavor profile we described very well. The gist of the the evening was promising my guests that next time we would all go to Auro.
Not at all worth the price
Yowzers. This place is a rip off. The food was good, but not $150 per person for a set menu selection good. My group all agreed on this. The drinks were great, but also outrageously expensive. For four of us we spent $975 - that's four meals at $150 each, plus two drinks each, plus tip. Our service was good. Overall, unless you just want to flush money down the drain for a decent (not superb) meal I would suggest other places for less OR for an exceptional meal worth that price. We all agreed we wouldn't go back or suggest it for that price point.
Anniversary Dinner at Press
We had visited Press to celebrate our 10th anniversary , from the moment we had entered the place to till the end experience was truly amazing..Food was truly amazing, delicious, hospitality was incredible. They had done everything to make our dinner special.I will recommend this place.
Standards are high at Press
This was our second time dining at Press. We enjoyed a celebratory dinner at PRESS in St. Helena shortly after they received their first Michelin ⭐️ in November 2022. The food was excellent as was the wine - they have the most extensive wine list in the Napa Valley so if you want to try different wines by the glass, this is a good place to do it. At the time of our visit, we noticed the wait staff needs to rise to the level of service expected at a Michelin-star restaurant. The meal was so delicious and we were in celebration mode, I forgot to take photos of the food! Want to learn more about wineries and restaurants in Napa Valley and beyond? Disappointed
We were visiting from Las Vegas. I've been to Napa several times but this was my girlfriends first time. My sommelier friend from Vegas highly recommended this restaurant. We were really excited and went there on Sunday with a high expectation as we learned that Press recently got a 1 star Michelin. Location is easy to find. Inside of the restaurant is nice and has a good ambiance. Host was welcoming and very sweet. Unfortunately not our server. It wasn't a good experience for us. Our server, Simon, wasn't professional and rude with attitude. I used to work in hospitality and restaurant and I understand some nights are just difficult, but his service was lower than standard. We went there for just a tasting menu but were interested to try the chef tasting .. so we asked him about it but he told us we could just have a regular menu and had no interest to talk to us much. He was focusing more on talking to a table next to us which were 2 women who I believe he must have been aquatinted with. Well that's not a problem, we were there to experience the food so we don't mind that. We selected Chef tasting menu at the end. We were going to order champagne to start with but he was no where to be found so we decided to just go with a wine that we bought from winery that we visited earlier. And I should mentioned that we've been pouring our own wine almost the whole night. Personally I think flavors were ok but nothing special. And yes I've been to numerous Michelin restaurants. I gave the point to creativity though. Some of my girlfriends liked a few dishes. Honestly I would give a chance one more time to try the food, but I probably won't because of the service. Overall experience was ok. Most staff were nice but our server really needs to go back and get more training and be more professional. I usually don't like to give negative reviews unless I feel like something really needs to be addressed. This is just my opinion.
Tremendous!!
I turn 60 today, so we chose Press, went last night with my darling wife, Sarah, and it was outstanding. The four course meal was delicious with a ton of variety from which to pick in each course. While the service was, in a word, stunning. Now "tourist" restaurants should and really do not care about people, for when will they come back? But not at Press. I felt like the owner of the place, the way they treated Sarah and me!!! The very sincere and delightful waitress to the Som to the manager - they were so kind and caring the whole night. Go!!! You will not regret it!!!
Used to be great
I wanted to love this- this restaurant got very precious and the food is not that good. Overpriced and we were both starving when we got home!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
