Great service
Excellent service and fun vibe. Lamb shoulder was good although slightly too much bone and not enough meet. Wine on the other hand was well chosen and tasty. Bring warm clothes if you are sitting outside!

Great Outdoor Patio
This is an unassuming place in RedHook. It's intimate inside, but weather permitting, sit outside where there are a half dozen picnic-style tables and a mini bocce ball court. It was a busy Saturday night and I accompanied my daughter and her boyfriend, a wine and food aficionado. He was right on this restaurant. The menu is limited but covers all the Italian bases: meat, seafood, chicken, pasta. The appetizer offering was eclectic-burrata, anchovies, gem lettuce salad, olives as were the mains: soft shell crab, pici pecorino, spicy chicken, fish of the day, a beef dish, and more. The table can order 3 courses for $49; a la carte, the dishes are $6-$20. I was a bit surprised to see sour dough sold as an appetizer with foo foo butter for $7. Hope that's not a trend. The wine list is out of the world for such a small place. Relatively unknown varietals are featured, most in the mid price range. I had a salad, the soft shell, bread, and the pici. All were very good and temperature appropriate. In spite of a full house the service was well above average. Several times the owner came to check on us. Our bill was $250 for the three of us with ample wine. In retrospect, I think this place is best treated as a tapas bar-shring the interesting, but not large, plates would be a good strategy.

Dishes were a bit on the small side but over all good experience.
Other little quirk they serve desserts but no coffee.
Exceptional
Five of us went to celebrate a birthday. We ordered most everything on the small menu and shared it all. I think thatโs the way to go here. You donโt want to miss tasting anything. Service was excellent. Arancini and Brussels sprouts to start weโre great. We had all of the pastas! The anchovy one was so special we actually ordered another just before dessert ! Hot chicken and cod big plates were delicious. Wine list is full of unusual choices. Needed help with that and the suggestions were perfect.
The place is tiny, and out of the way but so worth it. Weโll definitely go back.
Out on the edge of Carroll Gardens, and worth the trip
Tight, smart Italian menu with a fine wine selection and superior, attentive service. Our large group split a series of pastas and starters--they were all very good. This is not the place for you if you want the giant menu, music, and TV screens. However, it is casual. Seems to draw the locals, and they have spotted a good thing. It can appear crowded, but know that they have a sizeable outdoor dining area in the back.

Had a wonderful dining experience at this local Brooklyn restaurant. We were probably the only non locals there. Our daughter (a local) took us for a casual meal.
Anything but casual. We were greeted by James, the co owner, and had to decide between the intimate setting indoors or the beautiful garden outside. Opted for intimacy. We started with arancini (rice balls) that were out of this world. We would have had a second portion but our daughter said not to fill up. Next we had the Octopus-fresh and juicy- not rubbery. Also the Beef tenderloin app was delicious. It was rare to perfection with delicious toppings. The pasta dishes were outstanding.
Don't miss them. They offer a hot chicken Milanese. The hot means with a kick. Not too hot but it caught your attention. The wine list was fine. The desserts sounded great but we were too full. The service was excellent. When we left the view of Manhattan was beautiful. Chef Chris came out to greet us during the meal. He is definitely a chef on the rise. Restaurant should be on your list when visiting New York.
Delicious but Odd
Not the easiest place to get to so you would think there was value to be had here; no dice. Everything is pricey here. That doesn't mean the food is not exceptionally well prepared and flavorful, it is. Every dish had a spot on quality to it, but why after spending $100/person do they put nothing extra on the plate and do not even give you a bread basket. Bread is not even available if you ask for it! No side dishes either, just take it as it is. There is an odd coldness to it all and the coup de grace is the aggressive photo of the homeless man attacking you in the single bathroom, totally offensive. I guess it comes down to what you want from a restaurant experience. Odd mix on the winelist between very commercial and interesting.
