Customers rip off
Be carful about the wine that you order , they charged me £55 , for a bottle of the wine which cost £8 , I can understand restaurant need to have corkage fee and profit to survive, but what they did is customers rip off

I have been going to Francesco for twenty years. Roman cuisine and informal atmosphere. Once. Now mediocre quality prices at Gambero Rosso, a place for small-time tourists. Hello.
Be the first to ReplyGood
Good food and quality wines. The prices may be a little inflated (or the portions a little small for the price). But it's a change from pasta and pizza.

This restaurant was highly recommended but starting with a Pouilly fume that was slightly corked we were served the eggplant melanzane luke warm and cold in the center —this was corrected eventually but the bread was at least a day old and even the olive oil couldn’t save it —the carciofi fritti ( artichokes) were fine but needed seasoning with balsamic vinegar to rescue them —the saltimbocca was passable but the veal tough and the sauce heavily salted —additional pasta dish that involved pasta shells were way too thick with a chicken stuffing that was, overly complex needless to say we skipped desert —I’m sure this was not their best performance but the indifference of the wait staff ( owners doing the books ? @ an adjacent table ) left us with feelings of mediocre cuisine and a staff that needs a wake up a call

Very good and excellent service. You have to wait a bit for your table because it's always full but it's worth it and it's a good sign.
Be the first to ReplyOne of top 2 dinners of our trip!
Excellent dinner and service. Had pizza, pasta wonderfully prepared. Service was courteous and efficient. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing
Service brilliant. Friendly, cheerful and helpful. Food divine. We both had mains involving truffles (the figs being out of season, sadly) and they were great. Roman artichoke and melanzane parmigiana to start with were also brilliant.

Once upon a time it was Francesco Now forget it, everything has changed for the worse, skyrocketing prices, mediocre quality, a place for tourists who don't know how to eat well
Be the first to ReplyGreedy and dishonest ! Tourist trap !!!!!
First of all, I wanna say that I go quite often to this restaurant as I travel to Rome several times a year for work trips. I usually go there with a group of colleagues but last Saturday It was the first time that I went there with my husband. Rome for Easter weekend and brought him to eat at my favorite restaurant ( used to be, before they became greedy and vicious). This weekend was the first time they pulled a bad tourist trick on me. I didn’t have a regular waiter that would serve me usually. Let’s start with the food: I ordered carbonara pasta and my husband had a margarita pizza ( real basic). Well I got my pasta 15 minutes before my husband could have his pizza. We understood it was a busy Saturday night, but I had time to finish eating before my husband could get his plate. I would have waited but the carbonara sauce was getting stiffed. Like they couldn’t synchronize my pasta delivery with his pizza 😒. Anyway we didn’t make a big deal out of it. The big joke was coming… we asked for 2 glasses of red wine, as we were tired and jet lagged we didn’t wanna do a whole bottle. So 2 glasses of a dry not too sweet red wine. Wine was good. LOL Than we got the bill and the glasses were 22Euro a glass. A total of 44Euro for 2 glasses of wine!!!!!!!!! A glass of wine cost between 8 to 12Euro max at this restaurant. The waiter really took us for regular stupid tourists if you want my honest opinion! I couldn’t believe he poured us a 22Euro a glass wine without even mentioning it before!!!! By the way a pizza and a pasta are 24Euro total! The bill also had an extra 8Euro for an other beverage we haven’t took. This one got removed for the total charges. But it looks like if you aren’t paying any attention they just over charge you !!!!!! This was dishonest and laughing at touristic people!!!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible Experience
Without a doubt the worst dining experience I’ve had not only in Rome but possibly in my life. We dined here ten years ago and remembered how good the pizza was, so was excited to book a reservation at least a month in advance. Arrived early, 5 minutes before opening they didn’t have us on the reservation list. Showed the confirmation email and they reluctantly sat us.. by the door. I requested to move two tables over and it spiraled downhill after that. The waiter in my 50 plus years of dining was by far the rudest I have ever experienced. Being Holy Friday we wanted to abstain from meat and asked for a dish of pasta with just sauce no meat…no exceptions to the menu. Wanted just a simple Italian glass of wine all the offerings were French. Settled on a mushroom pizza, a salad and grilled asparagus, which were very tasty. Never asked how our food was and rushed us out without even any kind of thank you.

Just wanted to say this was a fantastic visit. The food was great, the wine list was as big as a book( with great wines at all prices) and great customer service, from dedicated wait staff to great chefs. Highly recommend a visit.
Be the first to ReplyFamily Run Pasta & Pizza Restaurant
Da Francesco has the casual, friendly, noisy atmosphere of a family run pasta and pizza restaurant. It is located in Piazza del Fico, a small charming cobbled piazza near Piazza Navona but removed from the heaving mass of tourists. We have eaten here several times. The times we have enjoyed the most were when we went for the large wood-fired pizzas and carafes of house wine. Most of the seating is inside but in summer, the tables also spill out onto the pavement.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant family run restaurant
Typical family run pasta and pizza restaurant located in a small piazza. Basic menu with limited selection of wines by the glass. Good service, prompt food delivery. Average quality.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurant in Rome!
When planning our Rome trip, we made sure to reserve a table at Osteria Da Francesco. It is a hidden gem place that exists for over 60 years. The food is delicious . Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyBest food in Italy
This place is nothing like the tourist traps. The food is absolutely amazing. I got the margarita pizza with the buffalo mozzarella and it was the best pizza I have ever had. The caprese salad was amazing . We got the caprese salad in every restaurant in Rome, and they for-sure had the best one. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and clams, which was fresh and delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Be the first to ReplyMealworm found in food
Was all going so well until my other half found mealworm in her pasta. We pointed it out to the waiter who said “that’s from the fresh mushroom”….she was offered another dish which surprisingly she accepted. But to be quite honest it ruined the meal. We asked to pay the bill and the owner brought over the card machine and didn’t even acknowledge what had happened. This review wouldn’t have happened if he had made the effort. Sometimes things happen, just own it and recover it with the customer rather than ignoring it.

Fabulous food & service! Authentic Roman food. So much flavor. Great service and atmosphere. Great for groups or couples. Very welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyHidden local gem- Best pizza in Rome
This little neighborhood gem was recommended to us by the bartender at our hotel as one of his local favorites. It was an excellent recommendation. The pizzas were the best we’ve had in Rome (I don’t say that without tasting a lot of them!!) and it was filled with locals. We loved our meal and highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyWonderful and fantastic!
The food was great. Family freindly but plenty of adult only groups. Has nice outdoor seating, Has fresh truffle on some of the pasta’s. Recommend this restaurant to any one who is in Rome and loves great food.
