Typical European style restaurant/bar where everyone is touching and breathing on each other. Everything's expensive, but it's L.A. I don't drink, but a $20 cocktail from a jigger is inappropriate. The other reviewer's pictures are inaccurate from the experience. All of the food was way too salty/way too rich. Once seated, we weren't acknowledged for 20 minutes. Server finally arrived and took our order, then 3 more before entering them into the system. Look, I've been a server, but that is an excessive amount for timely service. When the food finally arrived, 1 hour later with no warning nor explanation, the medium rare filet I ordered took 3 minutes to chew one of the already sliced pieces. My boyfriend, 2 minutes, but he has a larger set of chompers. Still too much time for what should be a melt-in-your-mouth-filet for $40 with a side of fries. It was not 6 oz either, as advertized. When I brought it to Jake the server's attention, he had the audacity to tell me that I should have ordered it medium well-well done because it's a filet. "Filet's need extra time to cook." Ummm...what? The Béarnaise sauce was not your typical Béarnaise sauce. It was their take on it, which I appreciate the creativity, but the butter wasn't clarified, it was broken, it was alllll wrong and holy moly! Hello Tarragon. Yowza. I also brought this to Jake the server's attention and he looked at me like a deer in headlights and said this is how Béarnaise sauce is. Clearly not knowledgeable in the classic mother sauces and how other sauces are created from them. I assume the chef is a smoker and can't taste. Listen, I'm not a food snob at all, as I love all food and experiences, but I'm also a classically trained chef. I was very disappointed. This was not on par with expectations. My fault for having them, but eww. Just not good is all I'm going to say. There are so many amazing spots in L.A. for half the price, better service, and overall better food/ingredients. There's simply something off about this vibe. I hope they up the game because it's really hard to survive in such a competitive market. Make your own decision, but buyer beware. This place has been around for a long time so maybe they were having an off-night. I got this recommendation from Timeout LA as a foodie. I guess that's why we are also given the opportunity to review. My recommendation, try The Airliner instead. Great food. Great service. Reasonably priced. Most importantly, the servers know what they're talking about. Best wishes fellow foodies!! Xo
